Panchiko: The Internet Mystery of a Long-Lost CD

- Today I uncover the band Panchiko and the EP Deathmetal, and the truly extraordinary tale behind it. Possibly one of the greatest mysteries of the internet about an album from the 2000s that never saw the light of day until 2016, when it gained a cult following, unbeknownst to its band members.

Just wild how some bloke donating their old stuff to a chairty shop and some nerd finding it changed the band creators lives forever
Wow, what a story. I stumbled upon this EP when Spotify recommended it to me,
and had no idea about its history!
Same here! I was making a shoegaze playlist and found Kicking Cars, I was blown away by both the song and the story behind the band
same here bro. such a sick sound, and i fricking awesome story
Me too but I looked at the creators description and thought nothing of it
my friends got to see panchiko live in mass, brought me back a failed at maths t-shirt. i had listened before but never knew the history, this is so fucking sick.
Must have been so cool seeing them live! Glad u enjoyed the video man
kicking cars is so beautiful this is why marketing is important
ive been a fan of this EP for about a year or two now, and on every relisten it gets even better
Same here! The longevity of that project is unreal, especially for being made 23 years ago 😮
One of my favorite bands! Seen em live 3 times by now and talked to some members and even got my setlist and cd signed
That's sick! Thanks for watching man
The singer is my college teacher 😭
huhhh??
@joffnatic yeah he taught me games design lvl 3 in college right before he got found out I guess. Kinda crazy to think no one knew him and he was teaching me in class 🤣
@@s_dundee_s5260 That’s trippyyyy hahah, small world
@@s_dundee_s5260wasn't he a teacher in the UK?
@@bruah4364 yeah in Nottingham
YOU USED ALL I NEED BY RADIOHEAD IN THE BACKGROUND!! OMGGGGG
Favorite track off In Rainbows for me :D
This is incredible! No idea such amazing songs wouldve been lost to hisotry if not for a random person in a corner shop
When I stumbled across this album, I was in shock at how amazing and emotional it was. To this day it might be my favourite record, easily a 10/10
idk i only really cared for deathmetal and kicking cars
Im seeing them live with a group of friends in less than a month, can't wait
Dude have fun!
Aw, that ended up being a really heartwarming story. Their music has this sort of timeless quality to it, very nice.
Absolutely
i hope to find an old bands cd that has been forgotten and bring it back to life, just like the dude did with panchikos
i had always meant to go and fully listen to the whole EP when i first learnt about it, and this video actually got me to listen to it and i gotta say, really good EP. also a really good video, if you're just one guy who makes these videos, this is fantastic and very impressive
Thanks a lot man! I am just one guy running this channel, yes, so that really means a lot :D
i just started listening to panchiko a few months ago from an online friend, and holy shit their music is addicting. i've heard of the 4chan story before but i thought that panchiko just used that pic of the lost album and used it in their ep deathmetal (hard 2 explain lol), i didn't know panchiko was the lost cd, very cool stuff
Deffo something different, love it man !!
awe
Spotify randomly recommended d>e>a>t>h>m>e>t>a>l one day and I’ve been in love ever since
i love this video ahhh!! i've liked panchiko for so long and i'm happy they're finally getting the recognition they deserve:))
it always could easily be fake and its easy to tell it could just be a marketing, but at the same time its also believable.
I can’t wait to see them this spring 💙
Luckyy, have fun!
Esse álbum havia sido recomendado para mim no RUclips Music, na época apenas ignorei, nesses últimos dias fui pesquisar sobre por curiosidade e gostei muito das musicas. Ótimo vídeo, alias
went from being a mystery to me and my friend possibly going to see them in may!!! im super excited
They're so amazing
im a big boy and panchiko is my stabiliser
this band was amazing live
Wow I came across them because it was randomly recommended to me on Spotify a while back
Saw them live in NYC last year!
this is so fucking sick. first song i heard was CUT and now im a die hard fan
I am going to see them in 2 days!
Have fun!
i love panchiko so much
Damn, 40 millions streams!

I love this album so god damn much

omg ive loved this album forever i never knew this
same
really cool!
Name 5 Obituary songs
underrated asf
Shit like this is enough to make a man believe in god
Don't play the track
Me and my handsomest boy aka my Husband aka my boyfriend aka the love of my life went to panchiko concert
why are they making panchiko video essays in 2023
Cause they’re timeless
@@DiffensiveE they dont need a weekly video essay to explain why they are good ppl should just listen to them and make their own conclusions.
js to gain more exposure on the band, not everyone knows the history lol
no
WTF WATAIN??/
stop dragging your voice🙏😔
i was ill for about half of the time making this 😭
❤️
people really believe this?
I never knew this band had this much lore
I need to know what the fuck happened to John now though 😭
Poor guy could be on tour with his old mates but is probably working a dead-end job 😭
I got to see them live at a tiny venue on their first uk tour since disbanding, it was incredible as I had been there when their stuff was first being thrown around on /mu/.
back then they said in the future there will be flying cars, we may not have flying cars but we have the glorious panchiko.
Exactly bro
Reminds me of a Radiohead Album (I think a redditor on a thread talking about stuff they downloaded on filesharing site back in the day said they were on WinMX and he stumbled on a fake radiohead album that said it was pretty good in his opinion, he mention this was the album he probably downloaded but couldn't remember the name of it my guess this was the album he was talking about ).
it’s crazy to think we could’ve went on living without knowing of panchiko’s existence 😭
Spotify recomended it to me a couple of months ago i love it glad that i got it recomended
same hereee
I remade that old thrift shop cd with the price tags and everything. I got it signed by the panchiko guys at the show and they loved it.. even took a picture of it. I was So happy haha
Imagine having such amazing music and a promising career but it all goes unnoticed because you haven’t received recognition yet. ☹️
i still cant believe i went to the concert it was so beautiful
I looooove this album, like lovelovelove, changed my life in so many ways lol.
could you give me more unique albums lol or maybe your Spotify
