I got 10 of these tascos, they take good pics and last a long time on the batteries! I noticed that when you set it to take 3 pics the last 2 pics per trigger are darker than the first pic so I just set mine to take 1 pic every 15 or 30 seconds! For the money and for the amount of thieves around here this cameras the way to go!
I’ve used the “Walmart” tasco few times it’s good for a cheap camera. I did notice that feild of veiw was wider with the tasco. You are the trail cam man. 👍
One of very few you tubers I believe what they say. Thanks again Hunting Farmer, I like how you do your own things. Gods speed to ya and your family. 👍🇺🇸
Well I am certainly VERY happy the Tasco 8mp TC did so well as I found them on sale a few years ago for $20 each took a risk and bought a truck load then saw the 12mp version for $30 and bought a bunch more So far they have all worked better than I expect and IMO better than one can expect from a very cheap trail cam Other TC I have 6 of were Moultrie 6 or 8 mp TC I bought on sale in two packs 4-5 years ago work really well but were more expensive than the 12mp Tasco's
I’ve run many different brand and model trail cams over the years ranging from $28-$200. My go to cameras that actually hold up and last are the tasco cameras. All others have stopped working after 1-2 years. The tascos I’ve had for 3 years and 1 I leave up year round. I have 5-6 right now and plan to get at least 15.
Great videos, looking into investing in my first cameras to use on public land hunts. These are really helpful when making the decision, thanks for posting!
Great comparison, Dave! The Wosports definitely had the best trigger speed and it's compact and comes in camo but the Tasco may is a little better in picture and video quality. Thanks for sharing!
Clever testing scenarios, which really illustrated the differences of the trail cameras. I agree with your assessment that the Tasco was the overall winner. But I also think the real lesson was steer clear of the HIAO camera! "no farmer project is complete without baler twine" - True That!
i have a couple of the tasco cameras , i plan on using them at trap sets . had a few issues with the video draining the batteries fast but got great footage .
Thanks for watching! No doubt trail cams have many uses. You can learn a bunch when placing cams by your traps (I learn how poor of a trapper I really am 😂🤣😂)
I too noticed the wider aspect ratio on the Tasco. It is a 16:9 aspect. It also apears in your videos to display the time and date. That is a big plus. The Wosports is a 4:3 and seams to me to be distorted. I think it is a wider angle at 58 degrees. (Tasco is 45) Cameras are most sensitive to 850nm infra-red, delivering superior surveillance footage at night. But you are right, they are not totally invisible(low glow). Probably the best choice for a cheap camera. It looks like both are no longer available, but this was very informative video. I am just learnig. Thank you.
I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. There are so many options out there. I hope you find one that will suit your needs and you can enjoy trail caming 👍
I think I'd go for the wosports.. camo on public is just a little bit better.. throw some lithium batteries in there and it should last awhile.. very cool video with quality comparisons.
Thanks good video. I wish you would have tested the battery life. I also have the Tasco camera for over a year despite eight batteries the battery life is pretty horrible on that game camera. Last maybe a month or two, versus my Browning which last nine months to a year. With that said for $28 at Walmart I would probably buy another Tasco. Thanks for the review
Great review! Don't know about that Hi-HO camera! lol! Very interesting that the rope-a-dope buck didn't trigger the camera. Makes you wonder how well they would get a person wrapped up in multiple layers on a cold day! ( trespasser?) Maybe another test for ya.
Would like to SEE the model numbers and brand names of the youtube video of the 3 Trail Cameras under $35 which is best! Interested in the Wosport mini and Tasco on the video but no model numbers shown, that I see anyway! A lot of youtube videos talk about the cameras but don't show the model numbers at the end of the videos !Thanks for the video as I'm a new beginner using a trail camera and only hunt public land and possible camera being taken during the season! Nice job on the video overall though and thanks agian!
Found them thanks! Does wired and no in the connectivity technology mean not cellular? I want non cellular. I see some cameras say (not the ones you showed )wireless and guessing they are cellular!
Good side-by-side comparison, Dave. I guess the one good thing about the HIAO is that you could make some pretty wild videos with it. Let me think... "Polar Bear Spotted on PA Farm" Something like that should get lots of clicks, and although the viewers won't be able to see diddly squat due to the image quality, they won't be able to definitively say there WASN'T a polar bear. 💁♂️ Just trying to come up with something positive about that camera.
Now there is an idea! 😁 I was thinking about doing a giveaway of an almost new HIAO trail camera...stay tuned, you could win and join your friend as a trail camera owner 😂🤣😂
You've been my go-to tuber for trail camera reviews. Some questions I always have, but rarely get answers is - especially specific to individual models is: How high did you mount your camera to get the images you share? What is the REAL maximum distance at which a particular camera sensor will trigger from motion from your experience with said camera (advertised sensor distances aren't always true).? I won't be using my cameras for scouting but rather to catch my neighbor when he is vandalizing my fence lines and harassing my animals. I don't have many trees to use so unfortunately will have to resort to posts and poles. Suggested height and distance maximums would be a game changer. Regardless, really appreciate your thorough review videos and gallery of wildlife!
Thanks for watching and for the encouragement. I mount my cameras at different heights depending on the setup. As a rule of thumb for small to medium animals I recommend 36” high. For humans you’ll probably want to go higher than that (probably 48”). Trigger distance varies from camera to camera but many will work for what you’re describing (very small animals might not trigger a camera near as good as a person walking will). The biggest thing to consider is the night IR capabilities. While many cameras will trigger, you’ll want one that can really illuminate the area with infrared so you’ll be able to see what’s happening. Look at reviews that feature sample photos/videos and pick out one that has great lighting 👍
It's possible different identical cameras perform differently, so treat each as an individual. The top 6" has it field testing while the freindly neighbour is away would reduce the guessing. If surveillance is the objective, figuring out a mount site & configuration unlikely to be detected is something to work out. The background and orientation limitations need consideration. The limitations become apparent. If sufficient light exists surveillance camera might be more appropriate. Most trail cameras miss some triggers, continuous surveillance cams don't.
Good day eh!!! Wow Dave, this was a great review of these cameras and pretty helpful too for someone like me who is interested in trying a trail camera but not ready to spend a bunch of money on one just yet!!! I agree with you the Tasco seemed to be the better camera. The Hiao camera sure wasn't worth even the little amount that it cost!!! Thanks for sharing and take care!!
OK, I own 14 trailcams. Here are my trailcam criteria- -MUST use full SD card. Small micro cards get lost in the brush. -Have provision to use external power -use 1 single plastic door latch.Metal latches rust. I am surprised some trailcams do not use the lithium 18650 batteries.
Does wired and no in the connectivity technology mean not cellular? I want non cellular. I see some cameras say (not the ones you showed )wireless and guessing they are cellular! Tried to order the Tasco after seeing the video but can't find any available. Don't know if they are out of stock for now or don't offer them anymore! Good video and info though! Just trying to get educated on this before my new purchase of my first game camera! Thank you so much for these videos and answering questions to a beginner!
I wonder what heat has to do with the trigger mechanism of the cameras? They are movement activated. IR light is only used to highlight subjects in the dark. It might be that sensitivity settings need to be adjusted. You don't want your camera to be trigged due to wind moving grass or branches. But that HUGE deer that you had totally should be able to trigger them. I guess you get what you payed for. I think that your methodology is fine for the daytime comparison. But during the night if you have 2 cameras activated at the same time, I wonder if they will interfere with each other.
Great video Dave! I thought the Tasco was the best photo & video also. I personally used a few Tasco scopes when I use to hunt along with Redfields and the Tasco were just as reliable back then as the Redfields. Did the Tasco have a place for a security cable?
we also use tasco scopes and have had good luck with them. now, after watching this video we are gonna try the tasco trail cams ....... I personally used a few Tasco scopes when I use to hunt
Another great review, thanks. A budget camera is attractive but not if it is poor like the HIAO. When you did the walk test I was disappointed that you did not have the deer under your arm lol
I almost exclusively use 32GB cards. I often operate my cameras on video mode and can usually get a couple thousand videos on the card (varies some depending on camera model)
@@HuntingFarmerOfficial Thank you for your reply. I just picked up a camera for our local nature center to capture beavers that have been doing what beavers do. Lots of beaver sign, but very few sightings. Hopefully this will change with the new cam.
Just for reference in my area in Canada the tasco is $100 the hiao is $10 so it kinda makes sense how this test resulted, so the tasco isn't even close to as budget friendly but worth the extra $90 lol. Wosports is 8n the $70 range aswell
$100.00 for the tasco? Are you sure? I'm in Canada. He was testing the 8MP camera from a few years ago. I have the exact same one and I recall paying around $40.00 CDN for that one at canadian Tire.. Maybe you got a new wewer tasco model hence the price.
Just bought 3 open box Wo sports on eBay for total cost $68 because of your review. Bought 60-acre wooded property. Previous owner warned me about some neighbor's trespass. Want to stop right away so everyone knows not tolerated. Ask me first.
My son and I have 4 Wildgame Innovations Terra IR cameras. They are right around $40 a piece. My brother has 2 Cuddybacks that he paid around $180 a piece for. The pics off the Wildgame cameras are just as good and a lot of times better then the Cuddybacks.
Hey hunting farmer, im looking for a camera that i can use to catch a thief at night. What would you recommend? I need one that they cant see the light
Gm. I just got my 1st camera. Its called Game Trail Camera. Lol. I just have 1 quick question. After you set up your camera do you just go back and change out the sd cards after you set them up?
The first two cameras were definitely a step up from the third. I bet those deer were wondering what in the world is going on when you're pulling that decoy across the field in the wagon.
GREAT GREST video Dave.I was hoping u would do a Budget battle one day👍.I have 3 of the Tesco camera I love them great battery life videos & pictures. The Wosports I have o e of those too..lol It is very hard on battery's I get lots of False triggers with mine.U got one of those cameras that I was telling u about that takes those crazy battery's plus u have to program the SD card👎.Mine is not bad of a camera. Thanks for watching Pat! I had to think of you when the HIAO arrived. I remember you asking about setting up a camera that was similar and I had no idea how to help. Now I know...😂🤣😂
Well done bud ! I expected the tasco to be the best of the three but I was surprised at the wosports trigger speed . Excellent comparison thanks for sharing
Nothing better than the real thing! Those deer were convincing, Dave. Walmart now sells the Tasco 12MP cameras for $28.88. Same price as the 8MP a year ago.
Tasco is a good inexpensive camera, I been saying it for years. For the price, you cant beat it. and they are built like little tanks. The downside is they don't like the lighting at dusk and dawn. I think the camera cant make up its mind if it needs the IR to come on or not. Great review and comparison Dave, I enjoyed it.
i wish you would have went to a 100 feet distance, all cheap cameras will detect out past 10 yards. the best cheap chinese camera i tested will go to about 27 or 28 yards so i bought 2 of them.
I have several cheep tasco Cams and they work great for the price. Don't use the video. Not good. Battery's lasted 3 Months. Lot's of photos. I have had one out over two years with an external battery and solar. Still going strong. got mine when they were $25.
How can a camera (HIAO) that doesn't work win any category? Paying $25 for something that doesn't work isn't a win!!!!! Everything about the HIAO camera sounds & looks repulsive. Since it had audio, maybe the animals you can't see could announce who they are. I've owned 3 of 8MP & 1 of 10MP Tasco trail camerras. If they didn't stop working over time, I would have more of them. None of them currently work. Still searching for a dependable, affordable camera if anyone knows of one.
I got 10 of these tascos, they take good pics and last a long time on the batteries! Thanks for watching Joey. I know you have a ton of experience with the Tasco 👍
Can’t go wrong with Campark mini for $40. I have 5 off them been going for 4 years.
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience 👍
Lets discuss that hat! Bottomland flag? I need
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately I can’t even remember where I got the hat 😂
@@HuntingFarmerOfficial 😆
Thanks, good job..RT
I appreciate you watching 👍
i wish you would have went to a 100 feet distance, all cheap cameras will detect out past 10 yards. the best cheap chinese camera i tested will go to about 27 or 28 yards so i bought 2 of them.
Thanks for watching. I have found they will detect motion further than what their IR can effectively light up.
@@HuntingFarmerOfficial i have a few that do that too. Good for day pics...night not so much.
First one and second one are good, that last one I would be trying to get my money back.....
Yeah, I definitely would not recommend that one 😁
That would be under $44 up here, I'll stick with the cameras I have, nice test though.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it 👍
One thing deer do not walk that fast. They may if something spooks them.
I like the Tasco but all those budget camera made you look like you lost some weight. Lol. I like this review.
Haha! I think it’ll take more than a cheap camera for that!! (Like doing more hiking) 😁
Thanks for watching John. I appreciate it 👍
Which camera is more visible at night?
As far as I know all three cameras have 850 infared and will show a slight red glow at night
@@HuntingFarmerOfficial Super cool thank you so much for the information and the quick response 😄
I do agree the tasco is a nice camera for the price
Thanks for watching John. Have a great week 👍
Make mine a Wosports, please !
Thanks for watching 👍
I have several cheep tasco Cams and they work great for the price. Don't use the video. Not good. Battery's lasted 3 Months. Lot's of photos. I have had one out over two years with an external battery and solar. Still going strong. got mine when they were $25.
Thanks for watching! No doubt video mode uses lots more battery 👍
i agree that one camera was not good at all
Thanks for watching. Have a great week Dave 👍
I just uploaded a video with the tasco
Thank you hunting farmer. You're my first subscriber
Big like wow so beautiful wow 💖💖 so good lovely ❤️❤️ my best friend ❤️
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it 👍
How can a camera (HIAO) that doesn't work win any category? Paying $25 for something that doesn't work isn't a win!!!!! Everything about the HIAO camera sounds & looks repulsive. Since it had audio, maybe the animals you can't see could announce who they are. I've owned 3 of 8MP & 1 of 10MP Tasco trail camerras. If they didn't stop working over time, I would have more of them. None of them currently work. Still searching for a dependable, affordable camera if anyone knows of one.
Thanks for watching and for your insights. I appreciate it 👍
I bought three Tascos they all lasted a year then ceased to work…JUNK😊
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience 👍
Send the video and picture samples to the Chinese who made that HIAO camera. Completely unacceptable.
Haha. I agree. I could hardly see a thing at night. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it 👍
We can take turns pulling that target and get some practice shooting our bows ! Lol jk bub!
Haha! Great idea 😂
