Yep, I have not yet met any fiberglass or similar handle that's as good as wood for vibration absorption. Wood is king, by far. I've had hammers, framing hammers, etc from basically every brand...regardless, wood is still top choice for a handle on something you plan on swinging repeatedly.
Mr. Charles, the old-school Carpenter (capital C because he was a real professional) who built our house, insisted on wood handles not only for shock absorption but also because they slip in and out of his hammer loop so much easier. He's passed on now but his legacy of professionalism is still with me.
Just went and got five of the little tool boxes. They're very cool and heavy duty. Three black and two blues. There are harbor freights everywhere around me in the Metro Detroit area, which is quite large. Only one store has them out of like 20+. Drove 30 miles to get them. And it was worth the ride.
I am building a chicken coop and went out and got one. It drives nails just as well as my 28oz California. It has less shock and does not flare up my carpal tunnel. Amazing buy.
Ha! I just bought the Braun Magnetic Slim Bar Folding Light that you were commenting on a week or so ago... got it 30% off. And now ICON has one (and it's better). It never ends... 🤣
I have all of them and I always grab the Braun one cuz of the swivel feature helps me in tight areas when I have to adjust it and I don't have to completely take it off the magnetic piece to move the light
I absolutely love titanium tools but not for a framing hammer. Wish it didn’t have that waffle head then you could use it for finished carpentry. I personally prefer a heavier 20 oz. hammer for framing. The weight helps drive nails much better than a light hammer. Less fatigue imo.
Menards has the 2 drawer mini tool box on clearance for $7.99 after rebate (black only) I saw on another channel that the icon light isn’t real chemical resistant. Brake clean melts it.
Before moving to Montana, he lived in Vegas or maybe it was next door Henderson, NV. Jeff is more of a local than a gambling tourist. One of his kids I believe now has the Nevada house.
The Den of Tools... Well I have the other folding Icon light and now I want that one too. Thanks Jeff. 😂I also want the Icon T8 and T10 scan tools and the Hercules band saw with the stand. It's just money, right?
Manager at my local store just told me they haven't seen any of the small tool boxes yet. They don't expect any until the second week of November for black friday.
SOOOO glad they FINALLY are releasing the Bauer Dust collector! It was leaked I think, last year but the price was unknowned. Kind of bummed it's so much, considering what a good deal the central machinery one is. But, after you buy the fine filter, it'd probably end up costing the same. Hopefully the Bauer will go on sale... Oh and I've been wondering if they were going to release a jointer too, i'll be darn! I was totally right!!! Really stoked on this one! That price is KILLER!
I have a Stiletto from back in the day. Best thing in the world for driving nails, but there’s no mass. Can’t move a wall into place with it, and it doesn’t hold up to use with a catspaw. I ended up switching back to the old faithful Stanley Fat Max.
I forgot to ask what happened to the ICON mini ratchet and bit set that was going to include small sockets. I've been waiting since the last SEMA show when you showed it. Thanks for anything you can find out.
I have the old central machine dust collection rig about 7 years ago and still works great and it’s 2 hp but for a roll around dust collection rig the new Bauer looks pretty nice with a coupon. I paid $169 for my original central machine rig so definitely got my money’s worth. I looked into adding a canister filter and that was way to much so I made up a cyclone set up before the dust collector and it eliminates almost all dust before it even gets to the dust collector. So it gets the job done of eliminating the small particles of dust.
I was planning to do a hands-on review when I got down here, but I haven’t told everyone I twisted my ankle. I’m gonna do a review of it, but it might be a bit.
That new Icon light has already been pulled off shelf. It isn't chemical resistant. They pulled for now. For the money it's a nice light. But it has been pulled like I said.
Saw your show where you talked about the new Bauer jointer so I was in the market for a small bench top jointer 6” size , my local store had one in stock. I had the clerk open it up for me to check out . First thing that impressed me was me was the fit and finish and the fact you can rotate the cutter head 4 times and although they are straight position cutters but not spiral I pulled the trigger with this weekends 20% off coupon and tried it out as soon as I got it home. It works great and i ran maple, oak , cherry and some figured maple and I’m super happy with the results. So my opinion on this is it’s a buy at normal price even better with coupon. I’ve got a 10” spiral cutter jointer but wanted something small for little craft market items and this little jointer does a really nice job and I highly recommend it for the diy woodworker and even serious woodworking guys with a small shop that need the room. I also added the new Bauer lathe with stand and it’s an absolute winner for a midi lathe, also super fit and finish. This is also the same lathe sold by others and it had better specs like 1hp vs 3/4 hp I have two other larger lathes and this became my small craft items lathe like pens , bottle stoppers etc… and it’s 1/2 the price for the lathe and 1/2 the price for the stand . The stand is $99 everyday and $200 + anywhere else. And it’s exactly the same stand. Have coupon and it’s even better. I’m giving both of these tools a huge 2 thumbs up. Love your show thanks for bringing both of these to my attention they are a great add to my shop.
I’m curious about the titanium hammers. I started with a 16oz. Years ago, then to a 22oz. That I used for decades. It was feeling pretty heavy when I broke the handle and went to a 20oz. Dewalt. I would appreciate the lighter weight on my tool belt but I feel like it would take several more swings to sink a nail.
Bruh, the reason you want a 22oz framing hammer vs a 14oz hammer is because it drives nails in 1 hit. People swinging a hammer all day don't want to swing at the same nail multiple times.
You actually made me curious when you talked about this great big 14 oz hammer. I had to pause and walk out to the garage to check myself. My regular hammer is 16 oz, and my framing hammer is 20 oz. And neither one of them are especially big. What am I missing here?
Longer lighter for faster swing. Only works when you have room for good backswing. most folks don’t drive 16p all day anymore so lighter belt is nice. Head is sized more like most 22/24oz steel heads
@@boristhicas4687 Steel and titanium both "transfer the momentum" extremely well. Momentum equals mass times velocity. Lol my dad was a framer. He would break the wood handle on his estwing and return it to sears when the waffling would wear out out. Hf wood handles are awful. Id love to love them.
Why doesn't Harbor Freight set up their register to AUTOMATICALLY give Inside Track Members the correct discount? My HF store does NOT scan the code of the coupon I save on my phone! They have a piece of paper next to the register that they scan. I always tell the cashier which items have a sale coupon but most cashiers wait until they've scanned everything I'm buying before they scan the coupon codes. And about 1/2 the time, they miss at least 1 item!!!
It IS a nice hammer and yours looks pretty good but lots of cracks and checks in the hang on the top on a lot of them, ALL of them in my store had them... and on a good note the 25 OZ has dropped to $7.99 with a beautifully tight hang no cracks. So I got me one and did a grind on the waffle so now I have both a waffle and smooth.... I also sanded and burned the handle with a good wax oil finish.

As a guy who won the arthritis lottery at 29yo. The titanium stiletto has been the only hammer that let's me keep framing.
Wood absorbs the shock much better than fiberglass. Kudos to HF for using a wood handle.
And for making it in the axe handle. After using that shape for years its hard to go back to a straight handle.

Wood stays cooler in the sun and warmer in the winter compared to any synthetic handles

Probably a bad idea to check the room that you have to sleep in that night. Best not to know.

The atlas saw is a kit! Comes with 80V battery, 80V rapid charger, 9 inch metal cutoff wheel, 9 inch segmented rim diamond blade, and blade wrench.
Can't wait to see a review on it. Don't really have a "need" for it
“We stand behind it!” Well duh! Who’s going to stand in front of a hammer?😝
Victims
Who is going to stand in front of a guy with a hammer you ask . A guy with a gun ! I woundt want to take a hammer to a gun fight
I wish HF would start selling Icon hand tool sets with included EVA foam trays.

Maybe do what some people do with the Harbor Freight axes and scrape the lacquer off and then use linseed oil or something.
I like Harbor Freight for price and a good no questions asked return policy if item fails.
That ICON light has great timing, with winter there is less sun. Also... my snap on is dead and i almost bought a replacement, now i'll wait.

Haha love u trying to open the packaging on the light.
I was insane. Can’t believe I had to resort to a knife.
That light looks good. I would love it if it used replaceable 18650's or some other common size bat.
I like both the Doyle hammers & the US General mini tool box plus I'm gonna get that Icon folding light bar, Amazing tools HFT, keep them coming!
The best grip for that hammer are tennis racket grips. They're sticky, cheap, moisture resistant, and easy to use.
Thank you. I’m on their email list & get all what’s new from HF. I watch your videos on the products for your opinion if they’re good or not 🙂

Send that light to Torque test channel to verify the lum output...
Could send it to Project Farm since he just tested a bunch of headlamps, but he doesn't always test HF, no affiliate links from HF...
The mini box is around the size of an ipad, just 6'' higher. That's really small. 6''H x 11''L x 6'' W
