The 'How Suzaku survived' question is easily answered when you notice that the back of the Lancelot is behind a pillar. Suzaku escapes off screen so it's just that more dramatic when he returns as Zero.
The sequence of Animation at 2:59 - 3:04 is insane. The movement the mechs make are absurdly fast. I like the steady camera and its angle, it shows all the meat of the fight. The movements are also pretty smooth. Also press 8 to restart the sequence and repeat it, I've done that for hours now...
I think he didn't meant to offend you or anything, is just there are many animes out there with fighting scenes just as good as (if not better) this one.
It's crazy that even after all their confrontations and attempts at killing each other, Kallen still believed in Suzaku. She never doubted that his motives were for Japan's benefit. It's only when she doubted him and Lelouch (both times) did she truly fail to understand that it was always bigger than just Japan, it was about the gentle world Nunally spoke to Lelouch and Suzaku about when they were kids. It's also sad that she doesn't consider Suzaku as Zero, but still nice that someone from his grade still treats him as Suzaku Kururugi.
Kallen's mission objectives : kill Suzaku and Lelouch, make the UFN win : all failed Suzaku's mission objectives : stop Kallen, survive, make sure Lelouch wins the final battle, then become Zero and kill Lelouch : all succeeded Suzaku won. otherwise he couldn't claim leadership of the Black Knights as he wouldn't have been "the best".

Suzaku totally won First, he had the disadvantage of a worse mech. Making him weaker than the Guren. Second, he didn't go all out as his mission was to lose and not kill Kallen. The curse of Geass only makes him tireless but by no means force him to go 100 percent. Last, he had been fighting XingKe, Todoh, Gino and a hell lot more black Knights while all that Kallen had done was killing tens of dozens of Geassed Brits and fighting an extremely one-sided against CC, so that meant that Albion was by that time, as good as an exhausted husk as by that time Suzaku had probably used up most of his equipment.
Lol Suzaku the better pilot? Everytime the Guren and Lancelot faces off with equal specs Suzaku always gets his ass handed to him. First fight is a tie but Kallen has the upper hand, blocking all of the Lancelot's attacks and pushing him to the limit. Guren only lost when it fell down the cliff. All their battles after were tied with the Guren having the upper hand until the end of R1 when Suzaku uses the Conquista. But loses again when Kallen piloted the Guren FEV. Final battle, the Guren has the better specs but it really doesn't show when compared to the Albion. You could also say that without his geass command to live, he would be at a disadvantage against Kallen.
Suzaku is better and here's why: 1. Suzaku had to fight multiple people who are on par with the knight of the rounds (xinghei, todho, gino). Therefore damaging his knightmare and using energy. Whereas kallen only had to fight off a poor mans lancelot. 2. Kallens specs are superior. 3. Kallen is fighting to kill, where as suzaku is fighting to fulfil zero requiem. He needs to make it look like he died somehow. Also lelouch and suzaku doesn't want to kill there close friends which involves kallen, they want the opposite where their close friends can live in peace. 4. I see many people misunderstanding suzakus "live command" and saying it negates all the disadvantages he has against kallen and how final battle makes them equal. Thats not true. While the live command enhances his body and mind to its full capacity, theres another factor. The motive/intention. He doesnt need to kill kallen to survive, he only needed to fend her off and buy time for lelouch. His motivation from the start plays a part on how his geass works. His live command controls him to do what is NECESSARY for his survival not his victory. So in conclusion while his command was active during the fight, the geass was controlling him to ONLY do what is necessary to fulfil the zero requiem because that was his intention from the start. If he had the intention of actually winning against kallen and his command activated, Spinzaku would be victorious regardless of kallens better specs. For example after the japanese massacre, suzaku was furious and dropped kallen in seconds.
I love kallen's voice actress. She's the best. Able to voie character ranged from Tenma (sch rumble), quiet kallen and fierce kallen. She is one of the most talented seiyuu I have come across. I'm so glad that there's atleast 2 animes this season from her that i'm watching.
This scene... the emotions, the music, the fight, the motivation of everyone... amazing. Scenes like this are why i consider code geass one of the greatest show of all time( the goat for me)
I loved how evenly matched they were. True, they had their differences, both mentally, physically, and Knightmare-wise but they were their other's equal. And so were their points of view.

To be fair the Guren's specs were beyond that of the Lancelot's, Lioyd, Rakshata and Cecilia all worked on the Guren while only Lioyd and Cecilia worked on the Lancelot. Al though I still don't understand why they didn't give the Shinkirou energy wings too
@@Phantom-ZER0 There was no need to upgrade the Shinkirou, lelouch rarelly saw combat from a knightmare perspective after he became emperor, and piloting knightmares was never his forte, he can do it but he isn't a pro,. There are some evidences to that, first; the fact that he gave the gurren mk-2 to karren when they received it from kyoto house on season 1. 2; the fact that the shinkirou control system is completelly different from a normal knightmare, it was made in a way to suit his needs and style of combat, i think all aces on the series can take lelouch on a 1vs1. I might be wrong about this, but since he became emperor i think his only fight on the shinkirou was the battle of damocles. Now the greatest question is, why they didn't painted shinkirou in white, after Lelouch became emperor?
Its been more than a decade and the Series still holds as one of the best shows ever. Heck the fight scenes can give recent Mech Animes Battle scenes a run for its money.
Not to mention that even if you took away Suzaku's "Geass power", they acknowledge that Suzaku couldn't beat her only due to her having the technically better mech. If they had fought on equal footing it would've probably been close but he probably might have won again. Suzaku fan club. Because there's enough fans who hate him for some stupid reason or another.
Fuck you for cheering on Kallen in the fight! She didn't win this fight, it was all staged so he could become Zero and finish the zero requiem. But in the end Suzaku was the more skilled pilot, and he's energy shield didn't run out of energy either, he dropped it because he knew if he kept it up it would block everything she threw at him and easily win him the fight.
Suzaku was aiming to disable Kallen, not kill her though he didn't think she would be that good since he had the CoG. Lelouch specifically wanted Kallen to live on and not suffer the same fate as Shirley since he couldn't bear losing the other woman he loved. Suzaku purposely aimed for the camera at the end and damaged the claw so that when it pierced his cockpit it wouldn't kill him and since the cameras were out Kallen couldn't see Suzaku escape for the next part of ZR.
Kallen efficiency score with guren is somewhat like %70. But suzaku's efficiency score with Lancelot is somewhat higher than %90. First, suzaku has a thought to paying penance of his previous sins by dying in the combat. So i think this thought doesn't allow him to truly fight with his own enemies. (And when geass activated, he using his all skill. This is why kallen was surprised and didn't get why suzaku was powerful even her knightmare was better than him.) There is a constant superiority kallen's guren. Kallen is a really good soldier who can do anything, regardless of fighting against who or what but Suzaku did not want to use fleija and hesitated it (but anyway, let's take a look at what happened rather than interpret something we can not/ didn't see.) But on the other hand, we understand that Suzaku is a talented pilot, even though he uses the sub-model to deal with guren. We approached both sides in a fair way then we can get a conclusion about this. Okay, finish battle revealed everything. We can see that Suzaku can control his geass curse (he is saying this, not me) And he have to let her to win coz of zero requiem. And yes it's a fair fight because geass doesn't not give him any superpower skill but just forcing him to do his full potential that ability made him to use his best capabilities to survive/fight against kallen who has better specs. Btw, Suzaku was using geass curse when fight was going to end and guren was dropped down by Suzaku for a reason that he used eject switch (he survived and still alive but guren was falling which means kallen gonna die) . So that when Lancelot blown up, they believed he dead. And this is why gino said Kallen won but he was wrong. If gino didn't catch her, kallen was going to die, so the fact winner was Suzaku. So we can say he have to let her to win like i said before (it was necessary to zero requiem). Coz everything was planned. Suzaku won.
That changes after Shirley's death when he decides to take responsibility for the sin of using Geass and not to lose anyone close to him again. Kallen would have easily joined Lelouch and died by his side had he told her that he loved her. That's why when they kissed Lelouch says nothing because he can't deny his feelings but he doesn't want Kallen to suffer for his sake anymore but to live a happy and full life without him, hence why he wanted her to hate him so she could move on.
Both of these nightmares had to be destroyed in order for the world to move on into a peaceful world as Lelouch wanted. Most of the worlds military force was killed off too. These two, who were also the most powerful units of there respectful sides, had to be destroyed as symbolism of the elimination of the military.
When Kallen was captures, the plan was for Suzaku to pilot the Guren, but Lloyd and Cecile "pimped the ride" a little too much so no one could pilot it. Yes, even with the advantage that Kallen had in specs, Suzaku held on because of his geass curse... and also because Suzaku got a shield :P Guren only has offence and no defence.
Kallen has always proven to be the best pilot! Defeated the most out there. I love Code Geass till date, no other anime or even tv series can match its legacy ever! Agree?
wait a moment, the plan was for suzaku to fake his own death, he survived that blast and was able to get to safety, no-one saw his knightmare before and as it blew up. i have come to the conclusion that suzaku ran away after initiating the self destruct on a timer even though his knightmare was still functional. flawless victory to suzaku and loloyed

I think that he would have wanted to leave more of a lasting impact on the world as his last day of Suzaku Kurugi, and finally settling the score with his bitter opposite (Kallen) would have been much more meaningful than simply going MIA. Anyways I think that Suzaku a trained proffesional in the art of warfare and combat is better a pilot than a guerrilla trained rich girl with a vendetta.
What made mech fights so great in Code Geass was their mortality. They could run could run out of ammo or lose power. The final fight started as two overpowered mechs and ended in a knuckle down, all or nothing fist fight.
@pasnew17 ...were based on that when it was created. The Blaze Luminous can do more than block. It is used to reinforce Lancelot's kicks as seen in Suzaku vs Knight of Rounds, so it doesn't have a physical weakness also seen with Damocles and Shinkiros Blaze L. Also, as seen here, Guren is left with just speed after its radiation supply runs out just like Lancelot. If you ask me, both Knightmares are suited to all-around combat since they all have powerful close and long range weaponry.
Exactly right DreamTraveller1, and Suzaku even defeated Knight of One who had a Geass and that dam huge Excalibur while Suzaku had a Geass on him and Lancelot Albion, making them around even and Suzaku still won.

In a video called Gurren vs Lancelot, it showed one of the beginning battles between, well, the Guren and Lancelot. Supposively, Kallen was the better pilot before Suzaku got his live on Geass, but just by the tech levels of teh knightmares themselves. Kallen had an edge because of her radiation arm that could block VARIS and MVS at the time. Its hard to make a judgement with all this unequal knightmare abilities and extra add ons like geass.
Suzaku was the better pilot and I am a Kallen Kouzuki fan, the last attempt he did was brilliant and he could have killed Kallen as well in the porcess if he decided to aim both Harkens at Gurren's head one will destroy the head just like what happened shutting down her system completely and the other would have sliced through Kallen's cockpit which was just behind it. What intrigues me was how in the world was Kallen able to give a final command to the Gurren to attack using it's left arm with so little time left before her whole system crashed? I bet the full force of the impact that lead to the left arm puncturing Suzaku's armor was created by the Lancelot itself when it was moving forward towards the Gurren and I bet Suzaku knew all along that it will happen, heck he even assured Kallen that it did hit lol; so yeah he used her own tenacity to stage his death to fuliffl his mission. Not sure though if Suzaku knew that the Tristan would be there to catch Kallen. On a side note, Why did Kallen fainted? How was the badly damaged Tristan able to carry full dead weight mass of the Gurren on a free fall so easily when it could not even function normally at all when it first crashed? Imho the weight could have tore the Tristan's arm off (Alright, Anime logic I get it lol;)
I'm not so sure. The mechs are more or less equal in performance, although the gurren has a FAR more dangerous weapon. Hence, Suzaku would need his shield. On the other hand, the "Live" geass gives Suzaku impossibly fast reaction time when he works with it, and Kallen was able to keep up even so purely through her skill with the Gurren, which visibly shocked Suzaku. The battle was more or less a draw, but I think Kallen was ultimately the better pilot for lack of supernatural forces.
Kallen is the best and FTW Everyone can see how biased writers and makers of this series are toward Suzaku, they make him so abnormal and superhuman (they even try to make his fighting scenes far better, cooler and more eye-catchy) when Kallen is a normal human being who self train herself and still so great and in the end, she wins the Ideal battle toward a guy who knows nothing but betraying

But, the original Guren was designed to destroy enemy knightmares completely, since there were not really any powerful long range weapons at the time. The only real powerful firearm was the experimental VARIS given to Lancelot and Suzaku. Guren only gained long range radiation attacks in R2 to overcome its weakness in just close range combat. Besides, I feel Suzaku was trained more in close range combat than Kallen since Lancelot's attacks...

The same way Cornelia and Mao survived being gunned down, Guilford survived FLEIJA, Ohgi and Viletta survived a little tumble off a cliff into shallow rocky water and Jeremiah survived being taken to a depth of the ocean that can crush a KMF. In other words, there's no conceivable way, but...Code Geass likes to surprise us that way! One *could* argue that we don't see him escaping out the hatch or that there's now an eject pod or something, but really....yeah.
@JustWatchingVideo56 It's probably because the first time she used it (when she first pilots the Guren Seiten Eight Elements) no one was expecting it and it moved much faster than a knightmare frame, and it also might've been covered in the excess radiation left by the arm itself. If your talking about why Suzaku never cut it, it's because it would've left him wide open for Kallen to take that opening to attack with the left arm's MVS dagger or shield of her energy wings, killing him off.
Kallen had way higher specs, but Suzaku compensated with his "live on" geass. That combined with the fact that their skills were about equal, makes for a great fight
Plus she actually landed the deciding blow first in the fight and Suzaku only managed to stop her advance towards Lelouch. I would explain more but it's easier to do these things on forums.
Yes he did, Kaguya said it herself that Lelouch was defeated after Suzaku supposedly died that alone proves that him faking his death was the only way ZR could be accomplished his grave makes a hell of a lot of sense as well, FYI I don't see how having a better mech makes you a better pilot, the Lancelot specs wasn't as powerful as the Guren and he was able to shut down it's operational systems.
I didn mean technologically even, I meant that Lancelot Albion vs Galahad + Knight One's geass of looking in the future made it pretty even. Knight One was on par with Lancelot Albion, even if it was a higher generation. But Suzaku's geass that Lelouch put on him ("Live!") made him pull out all his skills and beat Galahad.
@fortetexxmaster Don't forget that the radiation arm does have a limit so it actually is a weapon and the Forked MVS dagger is also a weapon. Also, the Albion has Blaze Luminous, so it can block the radiation beams and attacks, like this video.
Spoiler, I must explain in details so i will spoil a little bit. Uhh long history man. In this anime, The main Character (Lelouch if you know a little bit) pretends to be a Tyrant since he ruled as a Emperor and Susaku( The man you saw on this video) fights for Lelouch. But Lelouch is a good guy and the two are trying to etablish peace in the world but Kallen( the girl) didn't know that. So yeah there is two sides: -The one who want to etablish peace but needs to kill all his ennemies so he pretends to be a tyrant. - And the ones who want to defeat the tyrant because they think he will etablish a Tyranny and will rule the world.
Suzaku threw the fight because it was in the plan. The plan wouldn't work if Suzaku was still alive; therefore, he had to fake his death to carry out the last phase of Zero Requiem.
It's a mistranslation. The actual phrase is closer to "My machine has higher specs (then my previous machine)" She's expressing surprise that Suzaku can keep up with her, even in a machine that surpasses the Guren Flight Type.
Maybe its not right to attach to physical things, but i felt really sad when the Lancelot and the Guren got destroyed, marvels of technology never to be replicated as the world entered a stage of peace.
Kallen is the better pilot overall. Reasoning, because she has a higher spec frame which wasn't made for her (should be noted that a higher spec frame means that the pilot will have to be more skilled in order to pilot it) and a genius (top grades at school). Suzaku had a customized machine that was made just for him (full potential machine) and had the geass on him which made him fight with full potential (for the most part, as a pilot). A fight on even ground would result in Kallen winning.
@Crazy1Girl1Riders Remember the GUREN is more advanced than the Lancelot they said at some point that the GUREN is only operating at 60% capacity and its still doing all this.
im sorry but in a moment they both state their advantage ... suzaku mentions hes using the geass curse and kallen mentions that the guren specs are higher than lancelots soo she already had an advantage .. the intrusion of tristan only gave her even more of an upper hand here... not to mention that suzaku was suppose to lose this fight and replace zero...
Yeah, but he had the god damn sense not to Pass out and eject before his frame exploded, while Kallen just passed out and would have hit the ground at full force.
No matter what Suzuku won. He was owning her for 7/8 of the battle but when he was going overboard he let her win. Remember he had to "die" for Zero Requiem to work.

見直してみたらアルビオンの爆発時、コクピットハッチの開閉部は柱で隠されてるからこれもある意味で伏線だったのでは…？と思った
The level between the 2 pilots is so vast that Suzaku can actually plan his "death".

やっぱ、ロボは地上での格闘戦が至高だよ。
どうしても、手間がかかるからr2では空中戦主体になったけどさ。r2でも、前半はなかなか良かった。空中戦艦に飛び乗って戦うのは、KMFサイズだからこそ、許される演出。
空中戦メインになって悪くなったとは思わないけどワビサビ込みで地上戦の方が良くはある。これはKLF(エウレカセブン)にも言えること
ただどちらも戦場が空中に移行して
脱出からの戦線復帰が困難、脱出出来ず空中で爆散するってパイロットの死亡率が爆発的に増えるって悲劇も内包するからロボット作品として間違いではない
I loved how evenly matched they were. True, they had their differences, both mentally, physically, and Knightmare-wise but they were their other's equal.
And so were their points of view.

To be fair the Guren's specs were beyond that of the Lancelot's, Lioyd, Rakshata and Cecilia all worked on the Guren while only Lioyd and Cecilia worked on the Lancelot. Al though I still don't understand why they didn't give the Shinkirou energy wings too
@@Phantom-ZER0 There was no need to upgrade the Shinkirou, lelouch rarelly saw combat from a knightmare perspective after he became emperor, and piloting knightmares was never his forte, he can do it but he isn't a pro,. There are some evidences to that, first; the fact that he gave the gurren mk-2 to karren when they received it from kyoto house on season 1. 2; the fact that the shinkirou control system is completelly different from a normal knightmare, it was made in a way to suit his needs and style of combat, i think all aces on the series can take lelouch on a 1vs1.
I might be wrong about this, but since he became emperor i think his only fight on the shinkirou was the battle of damocles.
Now the greatest question is, why they didn't painted shinkirou in white, after Lelouch became emperor?

Not to mention that even if you took away Suzaku's "Geass power", they acknowledge that Suzaku couldn't beat her only due to her having the technically better mech. If they had fought on equal footing it would've probably been close but he probably might have won again.

Fuck you for cheering on Kallen in the fight! She didn't win this fight, it was all staged so he could become Zero and finish the zero requiem. But in the end Suzaku was the more skilled pilot, and he's energy shield didn't run out of energy either, he dropped it because he knew if he kept it up it would block everything she threw at him and easily win him the fight.

Suzaku was aiming to disable Kallen, not kill her though he didn't think she would be that good since he had the CoG. Lelouch specifically wanted Kallen to live on and not suffer the same fate as Shirley since he couldn't bear losing the other woman he loved. Suzaku purposely aimed for the camera at the end and damaged the claw so that when it pierced his cockpit it wouldn't kill him and since the cameras were out Kallen couldn't see Suzaku escape for the next part of ZR.

Kallen efficiency score with guren is somewhat like %70. But suzaku's efficiency score with Lancelot is somewhat higher than %90. First, suzaku has a thought to paying penance of his previous sins by dying in the combat. So i think this thought doesn't allow him to truly fight with his own enemies. (And when geass activated, he using his all skill. This is why kallen was surprised and didn't get why suzaku was powerful even her knightmare was better than him.)
There is a constant superiority kallen's guren. Kallen is a really good soldier who can do anything, regardless of fighting against who or what but Suzaku did not want to use fleija and hesitated it (but anyway, let's take a look at what happened rather than interpret something we can not/ didn't see.) But on the other hand, we understand that Suzaku is a talented pilot, even though he uses the sub-model to deal with guren. We approached both sides in a fair way then we can get a conclusion about this. Okay, finish battle revealed everything. We can see that Suzaku can control his geass curse (he is saying this, not me) And he have to let her to win coz of zero requiem. And yes it's a fair fight because geass doesn't not give him any superpower skill but just forcing him to do his full potential that ability made him to use his best capabilities to survive/fight against kallen who has better specs. Btw, Suzaku was using geass curse when fight was going to end and guren was dropped down by Suzaku for a reason that he used eject switch (he survived and still alive but guren was falling which means kallen gonna die) . So that when Lancelot blown up, they believed he dead. And this is why gino said Kallen won but he was wrong. If gino didn't catch her, kallen was going to die, so the fact winner was Suzaku. So we can say he have to let her to win like i said before (it was necessary to zero requiem). Coz everything was planned. Suzaku won.
That changes after Shirley's death when he decides to take responsibility for the sin of using Geass and not to lose anyone close to him again. Kallen would have easily joined Lelouch and died by his side had he told her that he loved her. That's why when they kissed Lelouch says nothing because he can't deny his feelings but he doesn't want Kallen to suffer for his sake anymore but to live a happy and full life without him, hence why he wanted her to hate him so she could move on.
Both of these nightmares had to be destroyed in order for the world to move on into a peaceful world as Lelouch wanted. Most of the worlds military force was killed off too. These two, who were also the most powerful units of there respectful sides, had to be destroyed as symbolism of the elimination of the military.
This is an awesome battle. Suzaku and Kallen sure does have an interesting rivalry
When Kallen was captures, the plan was for Suzaku to pilot the Guren, but Lloyd and Cecile "pimped the ride" a little too much so no one could pilot it.
Yes, even with the advantage that Kallen had in specs, Suzaku held on because of his geass curse... and also because Suzaku got a shield :P Guren only has offence and no defence.

wait a moment, the plan was for suzaku to fake his own death, he survived that blast and was able to get to safety, no-one saw his knightmare before and as it blew up. i have come to the conclusion that suzaku ran away after initiating the self destruct on a timer even though his knightmare was still functional. flawless victory to suzaku and loloyed

I think that he would have wanted to leave more of a lasting impact on the world as his last day of Suzaku Kurugi, and finally settling the score with his bitter opposite (Kallen) would have been much more meaningful than simply going MIA.
Anyways I think that Suzaku a trained proffesional in the art of warfare and combat is better a pilot than a guerrilla trained rich girl with a vendetta.
What made mech fights so great in Code Geass was their mortality. They could run could run out of ammo or lose power. The final fight started as two overpowered mechs and ended in a knuckle down, all or nothing fist fight.
P.S. Kallen was fighting to kill Suzaku, but Suzaku was fighting to buy time. Imagine if Suzaku wanted to kill her.
@pasnew17 ...were based on that when it was created. The Blaze Luminous can do more than block. It is used to reinforce Lancelot's kicks as seen in Suzaku vs Knight of Rounds, so it doesn't have a physical weakness also seen with Damocles and Shinkiros Blaze L. Also, as seen here, Guren is left with just speed after its radiation supply runs out just like Lancelot. If you ask me, both Knightmares are suited to all-around combat since they all have powerful close and long range weaponry.
Exactly right DreamTraveller1, and Suzaku even defeated Knight of One who had a Geass and that dam huge Excalibur while Suzaku had a Geass on him and Lancelot Albion, making them around even and Suzaku still won.

In a video called Gurren vs Lancelot, it showed one of the beginning battles between, well, the Guren and Lancelot. Supposively, Kallen was the better pilot before Suzaku got his live on Geass, but just by the tech levels of teh knightmares themselves. Kallen had an edge because of her radiation arm that could block VARIS and MVS at the time. Its hard to make a judgement with all this unequal knightmare abilities and extra add ons like geass.
Suzaku was the better pilot and I am a Kallen Kouzuki fan, the last attempt he did was brilliant and he could have killed Kallen as well in the porcess if he decided to aim both Harkens at Gurren's head one will destroy the head just like what happened shutting down her system completely and the other would have sliced through Kallen's cockpit which was just behind it. What intrigues me was how in the world was Kallen able to give a final command to the Gurren to attack using it's left arm with so little time left before her whole system crashed? I bet the full force of the impact that lead to the left arm puncturing Suzaku's armor was created by the Lancelot itself when it was moving forward towards the Gurren and I bet Suzaku knew all along that it will happen, heck he even assured Kallen that it did hit lol; so yeah he used her own tenacity to stage his death to fuliffl his mission. Not sure though if Suzaku knew that the Tristan would be there to catch Kallen. On a side note, Why did Kallen fainted? How was the badly damaged Tristan able to carry full dead weight mass of the Gurren on a free fall so easily when it could not even function normally at all when it first crashed? Imho the weight could have tore the Tristan's arm off (Alright, Anime logic I get it lol;)

I'm not so sure. The mechs are more or less equal in performance, although the gurren has a FAR more dangerous weapon. Hence, Suzaku would need his shield. On the other hand, the "Live" geass gives Suzaku impossibly fast reaction time when he works with it, and Kallen was able to keep up even so purely through her skill with the Gurren, which visibly shocked Suzaku.
The battle was more or less a draw, but I think Kallen was ultimately the better pilot for lack of supernatural forces.

Everyone can see how biased writers and makers of this series are toward Suzaku, they make him so abnormal and superhuman (they even try to make his fighting scenes far better, cooler and more eye-catchy) when Kallen is a normal human being who self train herself and still so great and in the end, she wins the Ideal battle toward a guy who knows nothing but betraying

@fortetexxmaster Fair enough about liking Guren more. But, the original Guren was designed to destroy enemy knightmares completely, since there were not really any powerful long range weapons at the time. The only real powerful firearm was the experimental VARIS given to Lancelot and Suzaku. Guren only gained long range radiation attacks in R2 to overcome its weakness in just close range combat. Besides, I feel Suzaku was trained more in close range combat than Kallen since Lancelot's attacks...

The scenario composition is really great. Lelouch and Suzaku start with their best friends, then hate each other, and finally end up as their best friends.
Karen as a resistance and finally as a woman. Other characters also have their own justice, answers, and ways of life, and there is no answer.
Lelouch bets his life as a seed of creation for the new world in return for the old world he destroyed. It is Suzaku, my best friend, who undertakes it.
It's an amazing story.
The same way Cornelia and Mao survived being gunned down, Guilford survived FLEIJA, Ohgi and Viletta survived a little tumble off a cliff into shallow rocky water and Jeremiah survived being taken to a depth of the ocean that can crush a KMF.
In other words, there's no conceivable way, but...Code Geass likes to surprise us that way!
One *could* argue that we don't see him escaping out the hatch or that there's now an eject pod or something, but really....yeah.

@JustWatchingVideo56 It's probably because the first time she used it (when she first pilots the Guren Seiten Eight Elements) no one was expecting it and it moved much faster than a knightmare frame, and it also might've been covered in the excess radiation left by the arm itself. If your talking about why Suzaku never cut it, it's because it would've left him wide open for Kallen to take that opening to attack with the left arm's MVS dagger or shield of her energy wings, killing him off.

Kallen had way higher specs, but Suzaku compensated with his "live on" geass. That combined with the fact that their skills were about equal, makes for a great fight

Yes he did, Kaguya said it herself that Lelouch was defeated after Suzaku supposedly died that alone proves that him faking his death was the only way ZR could be accomplished his grave makes a hell of a lot of sense as well, FYI I don't see how having a better mech makes you a better pilot, the Lancelot specs wasn't as powerful as the Guren and he was able to shut down it's operational systems.
I didn mean technologically even, I meant that Lancelot Albion vs Galahad + Knight One's geass of looking in the future made it pretty even. Knight One was on par with Lancelot Albion, even if it was a higher generation. But Suzaku's geass that Lelouch put on him ("Live!") made him pull out all his skills and beat Galahad.
Towards the end of R2 the Knightmares basically turn into DBZ characters, can't wait to see what absurdly amazing stuff they will do in R3.

@fortetexxmaster Don't forget that the radiation arm does have a limit so it actually is a weapon and the Forked MVS dagger is also a weapon. Also, the Albion has Blaze Luminous, so it can block the radiation beams and attacks, like this video.

Uhh long history man. In this anime, The main Character (Lelouch if you know a little bit) pretends to be a Tyrant since he ruled as a Emperor and Susaku( The man you saw on this video) fights for Lelouch. But Lelouch is a good guy and the two are trying to etablish peace in the world but Kallen( the girl) didn't know that.
So yeah there is two sides:
-The one who want to etablish peace but needs to kill all his ennemies so he pretends to be a tyrant.
- And the ones who want to defeat the tyrant because they think he will etablish a Tyranny and will rule the world.

He might've escaped before the thing exploded. There was a good time lag after all. There was a pole blocking half of his knightmare.
Suzaku threw the fight because it was in the plan. The plan wouldn't work if Suzaku was still alive; therefore, he had to fake his death to carry out the last phase of Zero Requiem.

It's a mistranslation. The actual phrase is closer to "My machine has higher specs (then my previous machine)" She's expressing surprise that Suzaku can keep up with her, even in a machine that surpasses the Guren Flight Type.
Maybe its not right to attach to physical things, but i felt really sad when the Lancelot and the Guren got destroyed, marvels of technology never to be replicated as the world entered a stage of peace.

Reasoning, because she has a higher spec frame which wasn't made for her (should be noted that a higher spec frame means that the pilot will have to be more skilled in order to pilot it) and a genius (top grades at school).
Suzaku had a customized machine that was made just for him (full potential machine) and had the geass on him which made him fight with full potential (for the most part, as a pilot).
A fight on even ground would result in Kallen winning.
And Kallen had the better speced Frame for speed and strength, and Screenplay to save her with Tristian.
this was an intentional loss on suzakus part, to make it seem as though he were dead to later 'assassinate' lelouch
@Crazy1Girl1Riders Remember the GUREN is more advanced than the Lancelot they said at some point that the GUREN is only operating at 60% capacity and its still doing all this.
They were both good on piloting their knightmares.. The only thing was suzaku has a geass mark on him by Lelouch that he won't die....
