Hey! One of the game designers here - awesome video, I'd never even thought of the example during the late game with Ordis Spy and Rune-Scribe where it's correct to play the card from hand rather than Reserve. Great content, thank you!
Thanks, I'm honored to have you watching my content! I'm sure it will be exciting when the game releases and you get to see what the world does with your creation!
Awesome video! really looking forward to the rest of the series. Keep it up! I'm sure as Altered hits shelves your channel is going to be one of the premiere "check these ones out first" ones out there. At least I'll be pushing it.
I agree with quite everything, I do the same. One another thing making some kind of exception to the rules of playing control effects last: for non-fleeting spells, don't forget you can play them twice during the same day, from hand and from reserve.
Thanks for the video. I’m getting back into ExAltered after being away for a while and feel like it’s been pretty rough to win lately. I think I manage sequencing pretty well but this solidifies a lot of my thought process really well. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you appreciated it! With the limited card pool it can definitely be hard to win on ExAltered right now with a lot of the heroes. Most people have been getting comfortable on Treyst and Sigismar and you'll need a strong deck and understanding of the matchups to beat them consistently.
@@TricksterCGagreed. I love the game and I started off with Bravos and switched over to Muna (which I love) and been interested in Rossum / Resupply decks lately (but still not winning with those 😅)
@@woundsdrone Muna is one of my favorites and I play a Teija deck in my Top 8 videos! I've been filming Treyst games recently and that video might not be next but it should make it on here soon.
The thing I usually get wrong is trying to work out whether to play for this expedition or set up for the next one. I have a tendency to go for the current turn win and then find myself into a poor position next turn, which I guess is all around you talking about what to put into mana.
This could make for a very interesting video! There are a lot of times where players have to decide if they should play permanents, anchor characters, etc. at the cost of putting less stats on the board in the current day.
@@TricksterCG actually I mean something deeper as a suggestion for another video maybe, like: If you are the first player Robin Hood enters as the first chara, just like you said. But if you are second… odds are you don’t play Robin at all. Or again, Bravos Pathfinder is stronger if you play her from hand if you are the second player so you don’t get her sabotaged. Just quick examples. I still didn’t figure out a general rule for these situations
@@ZerZeroMic These are some great points. I will try and revisit topics like this in the future! Getting to avoid sabotage completely by playing key cards as the 2nd player is especially spicy. As for robin hood I might talk about it more in a gameplay video at some point. I still don't have great clear rules for him. Sometimes I will play him last or as the 2nd player because my opponent is low enough on mana I think they will not be able to make another play if I do! So many unique situations with that one
Hello, very good video, thank you! A topic to cover could be how best to handle the first few turns? General advice on what kind of cards to keep in your starting hand and how to play rounds 1 and 2 ? Just an idea. ^-^
That's a great idea! I have a lot of thoughts about what to keep and how to set yourself up in the first few days. I made a note and that will likely make its way into the series in the future!
Uneven stats strats for your next 101 vid is my vote! Assuming this will have something to do with looking at the flipped Tumult cards and estimating what the hidden ones will be. Also, are you planning to go to Gen Con??
Yep, stuff like that will be in the video! I thought about going to gen con but I think it is unlikely at this point. I didn't look into housing and things early enough and I'm far away so it would be a big commitment :/
@@TricksterCG Ah bummer. I also got there late and housing was a pain. There are still some hotels 17min away that were sub $200 but factoring in the Uber cost too, the cheapest I could get was still about $200 a night. Not cheap!!!! Hope to get to meet you at a future event at least!
Thanks a lot for the tips I was 0/8 with basira in the ranked I'm now 3/9 🥸. Do you have any social media soo I can follow you? Really excited for the next episodes!
Glad they are helping! I don't have any social media for altered yet. If I make them in the future I'll let you all know and add them to my descriptions.

Thank you so much! I was hoping that the head start would make me ready for the release.

That's a great tip! I think it takes a lot of people a while to realize that is a possibility.
Dang! This is quality strategy!

Thank you! Something I did not fully understand is how turn managing changed if yiu are/are not the first player
Glad I was able to include that!
