A serious engineering is involved in the stoves design, with features that the rest of the alcohol stoves does not have, the reradiating plate is a very clever addition to the design. The overall weight is impressively low. Thanks for the nice review!!
i think the "power plate" while its heated, would get so hot that it could act as a secondary element for heating the the bottom of the pot in addition to the flame. in theory it makes sense. i really like this little kit.
@DrChrisBiomed Yes I've used it as a wood burner and due the size of the item, very small twigs are all that is needed to boil water etc. Nothing bigger than a pencil gets things boiling in 6 mins.
Bob: The trivet can also be used on top of the DX stand so that the cook pot is more stable sitting on top of the stand. Great video. I have the whole setup, with the exception of the trivet. No one has it available. If I can order one from you, please let me know. I'm in the US. Thanks again for all the great videos.
over here in the states, rei has made the same exact nesting cook kit for years. same weights and capabilities. in fact, it looks like they ripped rei off. also the rei soloist is about $20 cheaper. but the stove you show is a cool one. thanks for showing this.
Please note that I made a mistake in this video stating that the Trivet was 'only' to be used with the Meths Burner, it also serves the same job on top of the DX Stand, and narrows the flame for a narrow pot such as the Solo Set.
Great video. I just ordered all the components (almost literally, minus the trivet) this weekend. Can't wait for it all to arrive. Fantastic video! What cameras, lenses, mics and editing software did you use, btw?
am i correct in thinking the power plate would serve the same purpose as the simmer ring on the trangia so if you're cooking food use the power plate so it stays at a steady burn or if you're just boiling water don't add the power plate ?
I wanted to love this setup but its less than perfect for me. The solo pot isn't a great match with the DX. The flame is too high and wastes a lot of fuel with the solo pot. I'm just waiting for the handles to melt and nearly always run out of fuel before reaching a boil. I use 30 ml for 2 cups of water. The 500ml pot works much better with the DX. I can always get a boil with this pot, but it's a bit small to put all of your bits, and the cross stand won't fit in with the DX. What I do like is the solo pot when using the cross stand and windscreen combo. A great combo but without the wood burning option which is disappointing. Evernew got close. The Appalachian set is great, and the solo pot set is great, but in mixing and matching, perfection hasn't been reached yet. IMO.
I bought a white box stove ..emergency thing .. anyway to make a short story long and drawn out , i was in a local bargain store in lancashire rooting along the varnish and paint .. there it was purple bottles .. i grabbed one and got to the till .. pound please haha joking me .. one sec pal i grabbed another four . Awesome get into your lical bargain stores ... i will buy the lot over the next few weeks .. talk about a bargain
You have a really robust voice, but it is not miked effectively--or compressed--such that we can hear you clearly. Again, excellent voice--that we want to hear better.
Evernew is the bomb..!
Light, versatile & indestructible. Fantastic.
Best review on the Evernew set i have seen. And I also learned something about titanium that I have never heard before. Thank you.

wood pellets would be ideal

3:19 How did you fit the USS Enterprise in that pot??
Nice options in that set.
That may be the coolest thing I've ever seen! Your voice sounds fine by the way. I thing kc7fys' sound must be messed up.

Very informative, thank you.
Great review. Thanks for making this video. :-)
Thx for review! lid looks flimsy?
Hi thanks for great info, nice and perky! Can I ask about the windshield - did you make that? what from? Many thanks again.
@4850937 Methylated Spirits in the UK, 'Heat' in the USA . Denatured alcohol everywhere else.
Hi there. Could you possibly tell me weather that cup fits in the slot on the pot to act as a lid? Thanks.
The solo set (ECA278) set seems to be sold out everywhere, I can't find it at all, any idea where I can get one in the U.S? Thank you. Good video!
Actually it does yes. However the 'proper' lid doesn't then fit the mug. But in principle you can do this.

this might be the ultimate cooking set, love the fact that it can be used with wood, have you tried it?
@waptek Sounds like you've got issues with your sound board. It sounds fine on mine!
@kc7fys Not sure where the problems lie, but the audio sounds perfect to me and everyone else who has watched it. Can you check things your end?
