The record told the story, while I read along in the book. When it was time to turn the page a bell sound would ding. I loved that book and record set. Lisa, do you use standard all-purpose sewing thread for your appliqué work, or in this instance for outling the cat's face, or do you go for a top-stitching or extra strong thread in your machine? If either of the latter, do you use a top-stitching needle? I'm only just getting to grips with all these different threads/needles and I don't mind buying the right equipment, but I don't want to buy something I'll never use! I love this bag and the fox bag and am hoping to make one of each in time for Christmas for my two youngest granddaughters - need to get a move on!
Hi Colette, I use Gutermann 100% polyester machine thread for all my machine appliqué stitching. I only use Topstitching/extra strong thread for hand sewing. Christmas is frighteningly close, I’m living in my work room at the moment 🤣 Good luck with your gift making!🥰

Lisa, can you tell me what brand/type of fusible wadding/batting you used for this bag? The only batting I had at home was sewable, as I bought it for small quilting projects. I bought some fusible polyester wadding online and it's pretty awful stuff! I've had to go with it, as I wanted to get the bag done for Christmas - and I can't face trying to take it all apart - but the adhesive properties of this wadding are not brilliant and once I started sewing the base to the outer bag the wadding layers started coming apart and 'bearding'. I just hope the wadding doesn't bunch up inside the bag! I guess if it does I'll have to start again, with much better quality wadding.The lesson I need to learn from this - don't be a cheapskate!!
Hi Colette, I had to learn the same way unfortunately! I usually use a 100% cotton wadding and add my own fusible Webbing to the back so I know it will stay put. However I have recently discovered Fusible foam. I love it, perfect adhesion, better volume and really easy to work with. I totally recommend giving it a go. I buy the single sided one.🥰
How funny, I have two cardboard circles like that, I've had for years. I save weird shapes to use to outline. My hubby used to think I was nuts, now he saves me weird shapes he comes across.
I bought HeatnBond ... and it has not worked :( ... I have now tried it twice. Being really careful. I really do not know what I did wrong. I followed the instructions really carefully.
Hi Rowena, fusible webbing should be ironed on with a Hot iron and pressure. Allow to cool completely before removing the backing paper, the apply to your project again with a hot iron. Leave to cool completely before moving it. The adhesive needs to cool to reset and bond well. I hope this helps🥰
Very cute, unfortunately I have a grandson....lol...hoping for a girl next, if there's one more...lol....any idea's for a boy? I have some black fabric with white dinosaur skeletons that glow in the dark....that's more his speed...lol...just not sure what to make with it yet.
