God is love
Love is, by nature, a gift. Even the Love we have is made available by the free gift of God. We love him because he first loved us. And loving God means to love our neighbor.

"For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God: for God gives not the Spirit by measure [YOU fill in the blank']. The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hands." Jn. 3:34-35
"...according as God has dealt to every man the measure of faith." Rom 12:3
"But unto everyone of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ." Eph. 4:7
We get, presumably a measure of, the firstfruits of the nine Fruits of the Spirit of Gal. 5:23-23 when born again. There is also potentially and instantaneously available, the mature fullness of at least some of those Fruits, including Love--as I explain more fully on X. Testimonies of such go back at least to 300AD or so, made more widely known since the 1700s by followers of John Wesley's teachings.
Btw, in order there be no misunderstanding, I myself "fill[ed] in the blank" with the same words italicized in my Bible, "unto Him (Jesus)."
As added witness of "measures":
The Parable of the Talents is about Fruits of the S(s)pirit. Not all were given/measured out ten. And interestingly, it was the one given just one who did not exercise it, as if it was foreknown he would just waste the opportunities to use it.
Amen. God has cause me to know this also, God bless you for speaking of it. We are as much as God has made of us. So much more ghan we often bring fully forth. That is why my prayer is continually, "Lord, do your will to the uttermost in me."

And how do we know what will be ours if we don't pursue, amen? The one best way I know of to pursue the fully ripe Fruit of the Spirit of Holy/Agape' Love, is to take the definition of it in 1 Cor. 13:4-7 and completely dissect and study its words. Using both a lexicon (for the unfamiliar: a type of dictionary of the original-language words in the Holy Bible), reg. dictionary and 2 or 3 or more different Bible translations (biblegateway is great for this), make a written outline. This assists in allowing God's Spirit to inscribe its Truth on the tablets of our heart, allowing for a subsequent inner person juxtaposition.

Love is universal
So called Christian love isn't any different
It may have been for the early church but nowadays not so

So what do you do when you love a brother by building him up with the Word, but unbelievers do not acknowledge it?
The word christian is a general term to describe anyone from
A catholic to a protestant
However as the bible says
Let love be genuine!
I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but have you really paid attention when you read the Bible? But the ones who were supposed to be Christians/the church are the ones who crucified Jesus. So, in Biblical days, based on certain people who stated they were believers. It wasn't any different. You don't base it on how certain people choose to express love. You base it on what God tells us love is, and you choose to receive it and give it. Based on what HE said and based on how HE displayed it in Jesus' name. Try not to worry about what others do or don't do. You just try to do what God has instructed you to do. This is an individual thing at the end of the day. This is an individual decision and journey. I pray that you choose to grow in God's love, wisdom, discernment, peace, heal (I felt led to type heal and not healing), joy, hope, and strength in JESUS' NAME. AMEN.
It's putting theory into practice
Obviously God's love is perfect
Human love isn't.its unreliable

As the divorce statistics prove!
@angloaust1575 Did you really choose to read anything that I felt led to share with you in order to comprehend what was being said, or did you just read it in order to have a quick come back and defend yourself or what have you? People tend to end up divorcing due to not seeking God to confirm that it is the spouse that HE has for them in the first place. Due to marrying for the wrong reasons or whatever the case maybe.
