I was on the fence with Frank, like many fans. My heart said he's a Husker and could turn it around, but we kept seeing things slip away as we could not recruit the guys to just physically dominate, like T.O. spoiled us with. But when Frank went up to Colorado and won that last game, we all thought his job was safe. He had redeemed himself and we all thought he'd earned another shot. His firing the next day was just a total out of the blue shock and I don't know anyone that was really happy about it. It just seemed like a betrayal
Frank coming back is great news. I kind of wish it was for a regular home game rather than a spring game, though... Hope other fans will chime in on this, but I'm sure Trev has this well thought out.
Coach Solich was fired despite what most fans wanted. He went on to have a hall of fame career at Ohio. Where is Stevie Dumbass now ? We will be there on our feet cheering him.
I blame Steve Pederson, I hadno issue with Frank or Bo, I think Bo wore out his welcome. I wish we could have avoided this disaster! I'm all for Frank Stabbing Lil' Red!
It was a disaster to get rid of Solich and a disaster to get rid of Pelini.Prove me wrong. This team has been bad no matter who they have hired and since abandoning the Osborne system and playbook. They just can't get it through their head, that sometimes you may need to go backwards in order to find your identity to move forward.Let them go ahead and continue this failed attempt to be innovative and now "pro-style",and they will continue to lose more games and never return to elite status again.Been watching this team for 50 years now and it's unbelievable to have watched them flush our successful program right down the crapper.
I agree with you. Except on the firing of Pelini. Bo had 7 seasons to win a conference championship. He couldn’t get it done. Under Bo in our big important games we usually got blown out. That’s unacceptable. Oklahoma would have fired Bo. Ohio State would have fired Bo. Michigan would have fired Bo. Alabama would have fired Bo. Penn St. would have fired Bo. You name it. All the top programs would have fired Bo Pelini for the reasons we did. That’s a fact. Bo’s last 3 teams at Nebraska were struggling to win games they should win. And we were getting blown out in the big match ups. Nebraska’s biggest problem has been. Not opening up the bank vault after Bo was fired. And hiring the best coach in country. No matter the cost. But that’s in the rear view mirror now. Let’s see if coach Rhule takes any of your advice. I believe coach Rhule understands some of what you’ve said here. Let’s hope so. GBR.
Back when he got fired it was the fans who wanted him gone. If I was Solich he should walk out in the middle of the field during the spring game and flip the fans off. I can see why he doesn’t want to come back and do this.
The problem with Solich was that he followed a legend. Nebraska fans were spoiled rotten by 1997. It isn’t likely ANYONE could have become head coach there and followed Tom’s success in equal manner. That being said, we saw what happened that first year of Frank’s players. 7-7. He was good. Not great, but good. Should not have been fired, but neither should all of those long time assistants that he threw under the bus to save his own skin. Winning 8 games or more per season is good enough to keep your job. Then they did it AGAIN with Bo. 🤦🏼♂️
The moment Frank steps foot the curse is lifted! Hallelujah!!! 😂🎉
Yes, the Bill Busch interview was great. Thank you!
