    Beautiful instrument and sound, Mandy. Richard Ash of Folkcraft makes hands down the most beautiful dulcimers in the world. Truly custom instruments, even when ordered from stock. Richard made me a resonator bass dulcimer, 29" inch VSL, made of padauk wood about 1.5 years ago. That wood is is the most amazing combination of orange and red I've ever seen on a padauk instrument in my life.

    Saw the thumbnail and it looked like my own "new" folkcraft dulcimer so watched it to see if I'd learn anything about my own instrument. I did. I'm embarrassed to acknowledge that I didn't get the specs (in writing) when I bought it from Folkcraft at Kentucky Music Week a couple of years ago. Mine is made of different woods and has some other differences but there are similarities as well. Your unbridled DELIGHT in your new instrument is palpable. Enjoyed your enthusiasm and knowledge of your instrument.

    Thank you so much for posting, Mandy! It is beautiful! I wanted to see what a vine pattern would look like before ordering and that is what I am going to order. Only decision left 25, 26, 27 VSL. I have a 27 now...and comfortable. Not sure if I should drop down to a 25.

    • @BanjoLemonade
      @BanjoLemonade  2 года назад

      Hey Ilene! I love it and play it daily. If you are comfortable with a 27” then that’s what I’d get, but for me I need a 25”. I am a Folkcraft Affiliate, so if you would like to make a purchase from them and support my channel (without paying any extra) you can do so here -

      If not that’s ok too of course. I love their dulcimers and am now an Endorsed Artist through them (and I am so happy about that).

      @@BanjoLemonade I hope so! I’ve spent all day strumming on the 3 I’ve tuned! The folk roots I found out was made in 1974 and I’ve been strumming on it mostly along with the cedar creek sassafras one. Snd wondering if I ‘need’ that beginner one you showed that was under 200😂 just because u
      It’s yet a different wood 😂😜 this folk roots one doesn’t have 6 1/2 fret though I noticed

    Hi Mandy, I really enjoy your videos. This one in particular bcuz i am looking at a like new used Folkcraft dulcimer series H up here in Canada. The seller is asking $325.00 cdn (=$240.00 US) for it but unfortunately it doesn't have the 1 1/2 fret, which I really want! It is also lacking the 8 1/2 and the 13 1/2 frets but does have the 6 1/2 fret. The one you played in this video sounded really nice and I am tempted to make an offer for this one up here but sadly i really want a dulcimer with that 1 1/2 fret! So I am going to let it go. When i finally get one i will probably hit you up on your site for some lessons! All the best, Gordon

      Here’s a video I did showing you how to quickly and easily install a fret anywhere with some wire and tape, works excellent too - ruclips.net/video/QpVaAQA4yDw/видео.html
      You may still want to get that dulcimer after watching it.

    I love this! This dulcimer is exactly what I am looking for. The cherry wood, beautiful decor, the 25" VSL and the pickup will work great with my portable amp/speaker. What model is this?

  • @lmallard3788
    @lmallard3788 2 года назад

    Looks like you have some extra frets. I kinda understand 1.5 & 6.5, but it’ll be a while before I can play mine- ordered through your link a few hrs ago

    • @BanjoLemonade
      @BanjoLemonade  2 года назад

      Did you get a chromatic?

    • @lmallard3788
      @lmallard3788 2 года назад

      No diatonic with the option recommended, but I think another folkcraft artist (BingF) said having those extra frets makes it close to chromatic. As far as I am concerned it will provide me with many years of growth in skills. Chromatic option would be another $50

    • @BanjoLemonade
      @BanjoLemonade  2 года назад +1

      So the added 6.5, 13.5. Either way great choice. Thanks so much for ordering through my link. Once you get your dulcimer send me an email with pictures. I’ll send you something in return. Blessings.

    • @lmallard3788
      @lmallard3788 2 года назад

      I opted for diatonic frets plus 1.5, 6.5, 8.5, 13.5, which was recommended
