Another Stellar Let's Play! Here's a note about Filter Envelope for folks. Best explained by James Edward Cosby "Here’s a tip regarding the Filter Envelope...It is “subtractive” so set the Filter Frequency to the highest desired level then use the Envelope Amount Knob to set the lowest desired Filter Frequency achieved by the Envelope floor (zero) level. The Envelope will Sweep between these two levels. This means that the Envelope will never clip the Filter Frequency. This also means that when the Mod wheel is assigned to Filter Frequency, it works “In Reverse”. Hope you enjoy SynthOne... It’s great!"
There was probably a good reason at the time. 😂 That's the beauty of contributors all adding their unique take on things... And, then once people had presets, we didn't want to change the way the filter worked and break everyone's presets. At least it's unique. 😇
You prolly dont give a shit but if you are bored like me atm then you can stream all the new series on kaldrostream. I've been streaming with my girlfriend for the last days :)
It's interesting the difference between 99 cents and free. I mean noone would complain about paying 99 cents for a cool synth like this but the impact would be nothing compared to it being free. Being free, absolutely everyone who hears about it will download it but at 99 cents I think many would think of it as a cheap app and how good could it be. Crazy how us humans have been rewired with things like decades of hype and marketing. You get what you pay for unless it's free. You could get a great thing if it's either expensive or free.
Thanks to Tim for noticing that the LFOs are all fine-tuned. Here's a reference on how each LFO works: pitchLFO: additive, range 1 semitone detuneLFO: additive, with magic numbers fmLFO: multiplicative, meaning the value goes from 0 to the knob amount (he calls this "subtractive") decayLFO: multiplicative ("subtractive") oscMixLFO: additive. [there are subtleties to this one] resonanceLFO: multiplicative ("subtractive") filterCutoffLFO: multiplicative ("subtractive") filterEnvLFO: multiplicative ("subtractive") noiseLFO: multiplicative ("subtractive") bitcrushLFO: magic. lfo operates in log2 space. tremoloLFO: multiplicative ("subtractive") reverbLFO: multiplicative ("subtractive")
Just found this and it's what I have been looking for. I have an older iPad and this will work with the iOS version on it. Thanks for the walk thru. You explained more about synthesis that you know with this video.
It’s crazy that I’m just finding out about this. But..then again, I now realize I was boxed-up inside my MacBook. lol!! iOS is a whole other world.... “The reverb...sounds f*cking GLORIOUS!” 😂 Thanks, I just downloaded it! Congrats as well on your new Attack Mag nod. 💯
If you look on my channel I have an old series that teaches the basics of synthesis. Everyone Can Play Music: ruclips.net/video/6o8H4oPN0UE/видео.html (These videos are quite old now, and my video production was shit back then... but I tried to make it better each video.)
Tim, thanks for the let's play. One thing for the future, it is hard to tell what knobs you are pressing or buttons being pressed. There were a few times I was lost when you said "I'm just going to adjust this thing" and I was left looking around for what was moving. Fortunately this app gives a hint right at the top but even then you need to then know where to look!
Yeah... I need to work on being more explicit about what I'm doing. After years of using Display Recorder, I've been spoiled by it showing my finger taps. I wish iOS 11's screen recorder would do the finger taps too.
Hi,I'm controlling Synth One with Arturia Keystep Pro. I am not able to synchronize the Synth One BPM with the Keystep Pro BPM. Can you give me some guidance?
Thanks, very informative... but I bet the beginners are baffled. So, when I hear this, and many of its killer pre-sets, I wonder why I have so much hardware sitting around... 🤔
You’re quite right dude! Beginners are baffled, at least this beginner is...AF! Luckily I’ve just seen Tim’s reply complete with link, to another baffled beginner! Gonna check it out now! It’s so frustrating to have a head full of bangers, good finger drumming skills but no idea on the synth, DAW and plug in side of things! Spose it’ll be that much sweeter when I master it...
Beginners baffled? God I hope not this is the most basic user interface for a soft synth I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen them all. Really. It’s an amazing program professional grade sounds for sure but it’s REALLY easy to use
Can you play back your recording and add sounds ? It has a record but no play... I want to make loops and stack them but I'm not seeing where to do that.... All the videos I have just show making sounds.
Does anyone else have the issue of the midi channel, under settings, reverting to “omni” no matter which midi channel is selected? (On an iPad running 13.1.2 with an Arturia key step.)
I did not notice that, but you're right! It is hard to pay attention to everything on screen while I'm trying to explain stuff. I doubt that 1hz difference is greatly affecting what you're hearing here though.
Tim Webb Of course not... none would tell the difference. I’m just saying in case you left it there and tried playing alongside another instrument. Only then may you hear the ‘discord’ 😉
Hello! I am a complete beginner for synthetic device. Could anyone tell me how to set Audio Kit Synth One buttons to make a music or sound of a certain frequency such as 432Hz? Could anyone tell me a website where I can study what those buttons mean?
That's an excellent question, and unfortunately the answer is no. Rozeta uses AUv3 MIDI, which is still a bit of a new technology. They are promising AUv3 support, but I'm not sure if that will include AUv3 MIDI. It probably will though, because Rozeta is so popular.
Synth One is an AU instrument. It receives and sends midi, but does not have an audio recorder or buffer functionality. You can open it as an IAA in Audiobus, AUM, GarageBand, NS2, BM3, Cubasis, Zenbeats, MTS, Loopy Pro, Drambo, etc.

I'm curious to know, why did you guys decide to go that route?

MATTHEW FECHER how do I actually save the tune I make or record it???
You prolly dont give a shit but if you are bored like me atm then you can stream all the new series on kaldrostream. I've been streaming with my girlfriend for the last days :)
@Parker Zayden Yea, I've been using Instaflixxer for years myself :)

So true. The app economy is insane because of this weird psychology we have over prices. $0.99 app? Must be shit. $5.00 app? You greedy price gouger!

tremoloLFO: multiplicative ("subtractive")
reverbLFO: multiplicative ("subtractive")
Perfect adjectives for the reverb
Downloaded that, got the t-shirt. Good demo Tim. Buy some AudioKit merch to support these guys, it’s a great achievement.
I love the panic button
“…the reverb, sounds fucking glorious” Hahaha! Agreed man! Great video! And what an awesome synth. New subscriber ✌🏻
Dude, when you brought in the square sub 👌🏻

I wish there was a desktop version of this it’s really amazing !!!
Hey, does anyone know of a good online synth tutorial? Beside using the keyboard, I have no idea where to begin. HELP!

very helpful, thanks.
I want to produce music with this app, but... I have no clue how to operate. :P
Don't lose hope!

@@Emily_EntropyA trackpad or mouse pointer would give us a visual to follow.
YEAH!! 🤗😁👊
this is great Tim ive got music station linked to it it's phenomenal
I have this on my iPad, is there any way of getting it as a vet on ableton?

Totally baffled here too. I found and watched this vid thinking it was a tutorial.

Do you know if theres a way if i can get this on Android

I don’t know if you realized, but your master tuning was set at 439Hz. The micro-tuning tables are going to take some serious study 😑 🕵🏾♂️👨🏼🎓

Is there a way for Rozeta to play it in AUM? I tried the usual routing setting and it did not.

Good news! 👍🏼 Bram Bos figured out how Rozeta & Synth One could work together, and we posted an example of how to do it on the audiokit twitter.
MATTHEW FECHER It works, thanks!
Help!!! How do you record a loop or layer?
Thank you !!!
Same question I have... I can't understand why that would be a hard funtion to find.
You find the record button under where you pick a sound, press it again and it will ask where you want to put the file, at least for my ipad

does anyone know how to make noise oscillation type?
just like explosions at retro 8-bit games
The sunflower one is creepy
Anybody know how to connect this or send files to Logic Pro x?
You would need to open it as an AUV3 in Logic I know the Ableton Live Beta supports auv3 compatibility
Hook it up via usb and send the audio over via IDAM?
Hi, I’am curious to know if it’s possible to load soundfonts, or NKI files on this app? Best regards.
No, I'm afraid not.
