I just wish everyone could be!!! I know what it's like to work a job that doesn't give you fulfillment, and I wish that everyone could find that little niche where they could be happy doing something they love!
@@gardenanswer As you must know, the nursery business, my profession as well, is filled with people who sport the same kind of delightful & engaging passion you displayed. A couple were once contemplating removing two huge 60+ year old Dawn Redwoods from their back yard planted by a nurseryman probably soon after seedlings were first available in the late 1940's and I went off (passionately but warmly) on the home owners for a good ten to fifteen minutes on the tree's history, their scarcity here in the U.S, and their great value & importance as ornamental specimens. I'm sure they were two of the biggest Dawns in the country. It was this information, along with my honest enthusiasm for these beautiful trees, that I think convinced them they should be allowed to remain standing contentedly as they were for the duration. And I made them promise if they ever sold their home, the new owners needed to be informed of these tree's profound significance - just as they had been. That was a very good day! It's a great business to be in, isn't it? Pleased you love it too!
Laura, thanks for the beautiful tour. I think you did a great job of capturing the essence of the show. The PHS puts on a spectacular Flower Show each year for those of you not familiar with it. I hope you enjoyed your time in Philly even though you had to endure the nor'easter that came in. Hopefully you will be invited back and maybe even do a lecture session!!! I really enjoy your videos; they are so inspirational. Looking forward to your vegetable garden this year.
I've gone to a few flower shows in Philly, every year it's so different and beautiful. I haven't gone since I've moved so thank you for showing us this year's show!
Oh wow, what an incredible treat!!! Thanks so much for sharing this with all of us! Heaven, it's just Heaven, all of the garden tours, from the tours of your gardens, your parent's gardens, the greenhouses to these kinds of tours. I just love them all! Please keep them coming :)
Part of me wanted to be you in life. I studied botany in college, but ended up in computer science. So now I do this for fun, volunteer, hobby. But seeing you at the show brings back that I wanted to be you. What a fun life! Ignore the you should do this or that comments. You were perfect in this video.
Just breathtaking! Thank you so so much for thinking of us and taking the time to share. Hope you can get back home thru all the snow. Love your channel. huuggsss
omg...thanks for sharing Laura!!!! I was in Phil once. Luckily, I had a chance to visit this flower show and I was amazed by their all kinds of colorful and beautiful flowers and designs. They have different designs each year. Laura! I love love and love your videos. I have been loving flowers for a long time. The more I watch your videos the more I am interested in flowers. Whenever I have a chance I will visit this show again. Thank you again.....
I'm from the Netherlands and I think that they have captured the Dutch essence wonderfully well. I wish I could go and visit the Philadelphia Flower Show! Thanks for sharing this video so that I was able to see it as well! :) And for all you gardeners out there, if you ever visit the Netherlands, go to Keukenhof! It's absolutely magnificent.
Thanks so much for bringing your enthusiasm to our PHS Flower Show. You did it great justice! We go every year, and every year is a different theme that is better than the last (don't know how they do it).
Thanks for the tour!...Truly some garden talent going on on Philadelphia...Amazing how the succulents don't seem to care about gravity...I liked the bicycle fountain the best. IMO, you have the knowledge, enthusiasm, and humility to begin grooming yourself as a judge...liked!
I worked on exhibits at the Philadephia Flower Show for many years. It’s a privilege to watch these exhibits be created within a concrete convention center…there really IS magic. You have 5 days to construct your exhibit, and the entire space is filled with garden people. It’s fabulous. During the pandemic the show was outdoors and in June, but for 2023 it will be back in the Convention Center, probably in March. Tip: if it’s snowy: go. If you can afford to go to the Friday night preview party: go. If you can haul yourself there in the evening: go. These times will give you the best experience and the fewest crowds. And if anyone ever asks you to volunteer to set up or sit at a booth, you get a pass to come in before the crowds, so of course: say yes. 🌹💐🌺
I'm definitely gonna have to go to this next year. Heading to the Midwest Cactus and Succulent show and shop this weekend in Cleveland. You're succulent admiration is contagious....not to mention I need a garden/gardener fix.
My goodness, I love gardening and flowers and this is like heaven on earth. But Heaven will be much better YET! I hope I find out about this show next year so my husband and I can go to it. It would have been great if we could have been there now and meet you there too.
Finally got there yesterday. It was very crowded but by 3;pm crowds thinned and it was spectacular. I have been attending for many years and this is among the best! There is still time to attend. Since it remains open to 9pm, I would suggest arriving after 3pm that is about the time the large bus groups depart.
To bad you don't have like a go pro you could strap on. That place is amazing! Thank you for taking the time to show us around a bit. Breath taking with all the colors and designs
I could watch this video over and over again. Can't wait for the 2019 flower show. I'll be going this year..I live in PA so I should make an attempt to go.
Really really nice presentation! I like that you gave a nod to the props but focused on the plantings. I've been to this show many times and it isn't as informative as it could be to gardeners who are there to learn as well as ooh and aah at the fantasy vignettes, that not very many of us have the money or the space to replicate. Wish you worked for PHS!
I`d like to tell how inspired your videos are. Now I had a garden and I will copy so much of your ideas. thank you for your work. I hope to find some of your beautiful plants in germany. lots of greetings over the ocean
wow!!! my sister just went there yesterday and she told me it was a beautiful place and there are tons of succulents 😍😍😍😍 wish im also in USA and meet you there.. u are my inspiration 😘😘😘
Most are owned by landscapers and garden centers. They take back what they think will survive. The show is in March, so it’s not possible to donate/plant immediately. I’m sure many get tossed. But these are huge investments for the companies, so I’m sure they are thoughtful about their stock.
WOW! I wish I had known BEFORE the show or I would have gone. WGAL failed to give adequate coverage. Had no idea of the extent of displays, being able to buy plants and that it is not so crowded that you can actually see the displays. Will have to go next year. Amazing!
Hi from Ontario Canada ;) I was searching for a nice sturdy fast growing shade tree for the northern climate and stumbled on your youtube. I watch a handful of your video and loved them ;) I subscribed and look forward to more of your uploads. I'm still pretty much a virgin gardener and beginning to put actual focus into it. I'm replacing a tree where I already planted two over the last few years, I finally figured out the culprit ... my husband and his riding lawn mower ... I noticed chunks nicked out of the last one ... it's dead. This year I'm putting a green ash and putting a barrier around it! He's is not a lawn or garden guy ... lol he would prefer to pave the whole back yard. Guess I should learn how to drive that thing ;) Donna
I love all your videos. They're all so colourful and full of knowledge to share. I think you would be a great author on writing a book on garden tours around the world. Just a thought.
Glad you enjoyed the flower show. It is truly one of the best in the world! I wish I could have been there yesterday. It didn't look very crowded due to the weather. Now come back next December to see the Christmas displays at Longwood Gardens. I think you would really enjoy it.
Laura had a press pass and was filming before the show opened. It’s always crowded. Unless there is snow. Philadelphia doesn’t go out in the snow, so you have the place to yourself.
I went to the flower show that year and was magical. Every thing was a pretty and put together. The only downside is that the things they sell there is so expensive.
I rarely hear from Laura saying 'I don't like/love it'. She loves everything even when the plant/flower is dead :). She is the mother nature of the plants
We were there before the show started to film. :) There were a few early groups that were touring, but that's pretty much it! That day was the worst day of the storm that was moving through, though, so it stayed quieter than it typically does.
Imagine if everyone was this passionate about their career and doing what they loved
I just wish everyone could be!!! I know what it's like to work a job that doesn't give you fulfillment, and I wish that everyone could find that little niche where they could be happy doing something they love!

I love the whimsy of the woven willow! Now that's my taste. Whimsical gardens. Thank you! Once again gave me great garden ideas.
Just breathtaking! Thank you so so much for thinking of us and taking the time to share. Hope you can get back home thru all the snow. Love your channel. huuggsss
So cool to see you in Philly! Hope you enjoyed your time here. I love your videos. They are super informative and inspirational. Come back soon.

What a feast for the eyes! That arched bridge as you entered was magical!!!!😊
They all look like life-size fairy gardens! Absolutely beautiful & inspiring :)

Wow! So beautiful! Thanks for sharing for those of us who couldn't be there!

Great flowershow. Thank you for giving us a flavor of the show. You should come to the UK for the Chelsea Flower show. You will love it.

Karen Ross Do you know if it's still open by chance?
No. It is only open for a week each March.
To bad you don't have like a go pro you could strap on. That place is amazing! Thank you for taking the time to show us around a bit. Breath taking with all the colors and designs
I'm obsessed with your videos...I'm your Filipino fan residing here in Dubai😍 i just started with indoor gardening and have been inspired by you🌷🌺🌸
I could watch this video over and over again. Can't wait for the 2019 flower show. I'll be going this year..I live in PA so I should make an attempt to go.

thanks for a glimpse of heaven... such talent there! awesome that something like that exists and it can display it!
It really is amazing!! 🌷Question: what do they do with all the plants once the show is over?

Fantastic show, wish it weren't on the other side of the country. Question: where were all the visitors during your videotaping? It seemed very empty.
We were there before the show started to film. :) There were a few early groups that were touring, but that's pretty much it! That day was the worst day of the storm that was moving through, though, so it stayed quieter than it typically does.
