    Thank you for your videos, I'm a complete beginner in 3D & rendering & found your videos really useful & easy to follow. One thing I can't understand is how to use gradients in Octane, coming from photoshop I thought I could apply a gradient tex & use as a mask or modulate values. I try using falloff but not getting desired effect.

    Could you please make a video explaining how to get caustics in Blender with Octane? I did several tests and I couldn't get a good result. Love your work! Thank you!

    nice one! When I plug the octgeonormal pass in the Intel denoiser i get a much better results than using octane denoiser, hopefully it will get better with octane 2021

      Yeah, I should have shown people where to enable that, you are right haha.

      @@finalresult3d that will be for one of your next tutorial then 🤣. the more I use octane the more I appreciate the versatility and flexibility of cycles/eevee nodes. But rendering wise, there’s definitely an “octane” touch that is quite pleasing and harder to reproduce with cycles.

      Any chance you can elaborate on how to enable octgeonormal pass ?

    It's cool but if I have normal maps, didn't appear, what about the normal map connected to the denoiser with octane?, There are any option similar to denoise data in cycles?

    the denoising doesnt work for me, the button wont even turn green. I'm using an rtx 3070 vram, is denoising not supported for the newer cards? did anyone else run into this problem yet?

    • @finalresult3d

      I actually don't think that the free build has denoise support for 3000s yet. I could be wrong but I remember hearing something about that. I will not have my 3000s cards for a few more weeks so I can not test it yet.

      Denoising will be working for the ampere cards only when version 2020.2 comes out.

    Is there octane for blender 2.9 yet? I am having trouble finding this. last time I used it I believe 2.79 was the latest so this would be awesome

    • @finalresult3d
      @finalresult3d  3 года назад +3

      I think the paid version has a 2.9 build. The free version is still 2.83, I will have to double check when I get home.

    Is there a way to make area lights invisible while still emitting light? I'm struggling with this.

    • @finalresult3d
      @finalresult3d  3 года назад +2

      In the object properties tab you will see visible to camera and shadow. Uncheck the Visible to camera. You have to have the light selected.

    I'd love to give Octane another look but theres not openCL support and AMD is kicking Nvidias arse lately with the Radeon RX 6800 XT. Better cards for half the price. i do love a good price war.

    • @finalresult3d

      AMD is doing very well in the gaming area yes. However for rendering, I have found nearly all major the render engines (Octane, Redshit, Vray) run off CUDA or now RTX. I did use the AMD Pro Render in Cinema 4d for a while, I just always found myself coming back to Octane. If you are running a Mac and Metal, I do believe there is now a version of Octane for that. I do not know it that means AMD support will come to windows. It would be nice paying less for a GPU with 16gb of VRAM though!

      I thought about getting an AMD card but I think I'll wait for the 3080ti. I imagine Nvidia doesn't want another fiasco on their hands so they may increased their stock on this one. I heard people are already selling their 3080s. I'd be pissed if I was them. The 3090 might come down in price too. I have Keyshot for Zbrush and that uses CUDA, plus I really like Octane with Blender. Unreal is another program I'm learning and was worried about the AMD compatibility with RTX.

      You're safe going with Nvidia, I just ordered a new desktop for work in Octane, I went with 2x 3090s. I don't want to have to upgrade for years haha. In my tutorials I use the 2070 Supers.
