Zeitraffervideo des Bauevents "Kathedrale" auf dem deutschen Minecraft-Server EpicOnline. Am Bau beteiligten sich etwa 30 Spieler, die über 300.000 Blöcke setzen. Für das Video wurden über 160.000 Einzelbilder im Sekundentakt aufgenommen. Der Bau der Kathedrale ist noch nicht vollständig abgeschlossen, es fehlen etwa noch Teile der Inneneinrichtung und der Krypta.
Timelapse video from the building event "Cathedral" on the German Minecraft server EpicOnline. About 30 Players participated and placed more than 300.000 blocks. For this movie over 160.000 screenshots were taken, one every second. The cathedral is not completed yet, there are still parts of the furniture and of the crypt missing.

It seems like to actually build true gothic style architecture in minecraft it must be a mega build to get all the detail of gothic buildings.
Even irl gothic cathedrals are generally huge

Even with todays tools, building one of those would cost a fortune.
Maintaining the Cologne Cathedral (which is built out of sandstone, which you wouldn't guess by the colors due to car exhaust) still costs a pretty penny (which is why the church gave up ownership decades ago...)

Ringer Jake Seriously though, the best cathedral is by GNRFrancis, and he doesnt get nearly enough credit for his build, his build is probably twice maybe 3 times the size of this easily.
9 years later and still one of the best builds on Minecraft

this is LITERALLY the most impressive, detailed structure i've ever seen built in minecraft! (even the mountains and the landscape around the cathedral are beautiful!)

Wirklich sehr gut geworden, da hat jemand seine Hausaufgaben gemacht, was gotische Architektur angeht... bis auf einen kleinen Makel: die barocke Haube auf dem Vierungsturm.

nur eine frage: wie lange habt ihr dafür gebraucht?
I counted roughly 12 day-night cycles, each being 20 minutes so you are looking at about 4 hours with 29 builders. so about 80 buildhours in total
If he means Neo Gothic, it has to be Gothic Revival. I am interested in architecture.

This is the best cathedral ever in my life!!!
Was diese Kathedrale definitiv gegenüber fast allen anderen auszeichnet ist die liebevolle Sorgfalt mit der sie gebaut wurde.... zum Beispiel das Gewölbe bei 1:55 .... kaum einer macht sich die Mühe und entwickelt ein 6- rippiges Kreuzrippengewölbe das auch noch gut aussieht. Genau genommen klatschen die meisten Leute einfach Tonnengewölbe an die decke oder bauen sogar flache Decken in ihre Kathedralen x_x.
Auf diese Kathedrale könnt ihr euch echt was einbilden, Respeckt ;D
Im building a cathedral myself. It will be the largest that I've built and Im proud of it. When I saw this video it puts my church to shame.
Although it's not explicitly said, it is definitely based off St. Stephan's Cathedral and Notre-Dame
(St. Stephan's isn't probably an inspiration but the style, especially with the roofs reminds if it).

It's very cool but it's quite rough looking. Could use better attention to small detail and personally would have used different materials that match better. Then again this is 2013 minecraft so idk

I was scared in the begging because the building looked very flat. About half way through it gets a little more depth. Still theres a big difference in this vs. a gazmo or mihrintia build

Wonderful build, just one thought...the day night cycle almost made it difficult to watch....very hard on the eyes....
