I had a friend who was a guitar tech for Judd . Micheal opened . I was really sick at the time when i went to the concert. This man allowed me to rest in his trailer. How many entertainers would do that.
I met Michael in Deadwood South Dakota at Bullucks Hotel. He and Jim Salstrom did a little duet concert in the basement. I bought a cassette of each performer. Fell in love with Ponies. Now I sing it on many occasions when playing for the right crowd… usually a cowboy venue. His music will not be forgotten.
This is a lovely video, images and song. I hope that anyone who REALLY identifies with it will pick up the phone and call their Senators and U.S. Representative and ask that our country not allow the slaughter of our wild horses, which is being considered now by the Bureau of Land Management. Then ask them to cosponsor H.R.113 in the House and S.1706 in the Senate to prevent the export of any of our horses for slaughter. THAT would be a fitting tribute to Michael Johnson!
PoLytnin You are very welcome! I am just grateful that he has fans here on RUclips...well deserved, for sure. Thanks so much for listening to this one :)) Jim
Thank you so much for watching, listening and for leaving your very nice comments Heather. I'm so happy you liked it! Hoping that your week is a wonderful one! Jim
Ponies Michael Johnson Album: Wings Somewhere out on the prairie Is the greatest cowboy that's ever been And when he lays his hands upon the ponies They shudder with an understanding skin And he says "Ponies, now ponies, don't you worry I have not come to steal your fire away I want to fly with you across the sunrise Discover what begins each shining day" When the storm clouds in the west are quickly gathering The ponies they run wildly before it rains You'll see their sleek dark bodies brightly gleaming You'll know the fire is flying through their brains And he says "Ponies, now ponies, don't you worry I have not come to steal your fire away I want to fly with you across the sunrise Discover what begins each shining day"

Great story of Michael! 💕🎼💕
Juist about the best singer/performer ever! RIP MJ. Had the fortune of meeting him in the Black Hills of SD where he had many friends!
When Michael would perform this you could hear a pin drop. Even solo it was powerful and touching.
Love this song and Michael.
My dad used to sing this to my sister and I growing up. Miss him everyday. Thanks for this
I know how you feel, lost my dad over 20 years ago and my mom little over 1 year ago and miss and think of them every passing day
Great song. Still have it on vinyl from the 80's.
+Mark Holman Great song, for sure. Thanks so much for listening!

Perfect images to go with this song, Jim. I love Micheal Johnson's music. I've always thought he deserved more recognition than he got.

Nipstersongs1 Couldn't agree more.
@@Nipstersongs1 Songwriting credit goes to Jeff Bullock for this one. Michael would be quick to credit Jeff for this fine song.

AMEN, thank you.
never understood why he didn't get more attention. "when he lays his hands upon the ponies they shudder with an understanding skin"
It's a wonderful performance, but Jeff Bullock wrote this song. He deserves some credit, too. 🖖🏻
"Discover what begins each shinning day"
I also couldn't agree more. I'm the only person I know that knows anything about Michael Johnson. How is that possible? Thank you so much for posting!

Ponies
Michael Johnson
Album: Wings
Somewhere out on the prairie
Is the greatest cowboy that's ever been
And when he lays his hands upon the ponies
They shudder with an understanding skin
And he says "Ponies, now ponies, don't you worry
I have not come to steal your fire away
I want to fly with you across the sunrise
Discover what begins each shining day"
When the storm clouds in the west are quickly gathering
The ponies they run wildly before it rains
You'll see their sleek dark bodies brightly gleaming
You'll know the fire is flying through their brains
And he says "Ponies, now ponies, don't you worry
I have not come to steal your fire away
I want to fly with you across the sunrise
Discover what begins each shining day"
I don't mean bring bad news michael died in 2017
