Daenerys (as portrayed by E. Clarke) has become more than a fictional character in a fantasy story. She's almost an archetype, has stepped out of the show and for those of us who recognized her, chose her, she's kind of real (and alive). Those two idiots said it themselves, they wanted an end, they had enough and they wanted an ending with lots of shock value. Well, they shocked themselves right out of business, but Daenerys still is our chosen queen, no matter how idiotic the writing in the last seasons was. This tribute video is beautiful! As is the description, where the thoughts and motivations of it's creator are explained. I'm older - and I'm damn well proud of the GoT community! It lives on, it's creativity lives on, in a time when people are supposed to be like the lords of Westeros, sheep. We're supposed to forget and turn to the next thing that's presented to us. And yet, to this day there're videos made, discussions and exchange of thoughts go on, alternate stories are told. All that speaks for itself and it does so very eloquently. I remember that day, I didn't even get to see it, I was bombarded by articles. I was also one of the millions that was psychology affected by what was said about her because of her decisions, decisions she made that paralleled things in my own life. There is a video called (Was I) Meant to Fall. It is a powerful video, but it helps fuel that void that was left from their collective decision to alter things. I love that you made this because it's like the sequel to that video somehow even though it's made by someone else and is much shorter. You showed the hypocrisy, and thus her true nature not in the light of people who only see black & white (as this world is becoming, I thought only the sith dealed in absolutes?) but in all the colors, she is flawed, merciful, kind, wrathful, just, intelligent, passionate and yet able to keep her mindset on her goals even WITHOUT her advisors. The Queen. Thanks for this, I needed this.
gah, I am *shaking*. So much epic. I admire the way you manage to fold in that s8 imagery without allowing it to scribble all over her actual (previous) character.
I'd argue that they kind there was also some pretty shitty writing in s7 (and even in s6) that definitely didn't help. She started a whole "kneel or die" type of thing that people hated Stannis for. As if politics and diplomacy aren't also necessary. But it was not consistent. She was able to work out a deal with Jon Snow without him kneeling (which was shitty that they went back on and had him kneel despite her saying she'd help the North anyways. It was super dumb) but couldn't find anyway to settle with the Tarlys? Besides burning them? It makes no sense. They even in s8 went on and on about how she has no love in Westeros but then never take the time to truly show that or show why they would follow Cersei instead of her. Cersei murdered the Tyrells. There is no way that the lords of the Reach would be okay with the murders of their liege lords. So the Tarlys supporting Cersei makes zero sense. I think they wanted to end at 8 seasons but not all of the characters were there yet. They started to rush her storyline to get her to Westeros and disregard the lessons on the importance of politics from Meeren. Also Dany has been without a family for how long now? And instead of being happy that her bf has move of a connection to her (which isnt strange for their world) but is instead angry? Marry Jon would just solve her problem with the North. Since they follow him, they'll think its a political marriage. Also NAMING HIM AEGON TOO WAS SO STUPID AND I AM NOT OVER IT
I still haven't forgiven the powers that be for ruining the final season...and no I won't be watching their prequel. They should've been spending that time refilming the final season! HBO can suck it!
