Hey gang hope you're all rocking out to Venus! It's been 5 years since I made this video and I've come a long way haha! Please check out what else I've done since! If you loved the video and the detail I bring to my lessons head over to my Patreon and check out what I've got to offer! I could be working on the song lesson you want me to make! www.patreon.com/antsguitartutorials?fan_landing=true
Thank you Eddie glad you enjoyed it, you're too kind! I'm exactly the same when it comes to BS in videos, but still that's probably the best comment i've read in recent times! Thanks again.
excellent lesson Anthony; clear, well paced, straight to the point, easy to follow. I ve watched a lot of guitar tutorials on RUclips in recent months and this one is easily one of the most impressive. a great tune. I will really enjoy learning this one. thanks man.
thanks for the reply Anthony. you're clearly a talented guitarist and equally talented at teaching what you know. you should have no problem gaining the benefits on RUclips; like the song lyric says "you've got it!"
I like it so much! Perfect lesson! Thank you so much Anthony! The solo is a hard work. I started with guitar just 2 years ago, but I´l try my very best. Muchas Gracias deste Mallorca /Espania!
Thank you for taking time to reply. Yeah, lot a Brit bands of the era doing the blues thing, but using 'country' licks is pretty cool. That note bent up against one held is a great sound IMHO, plus the double stop bit. Thanks again for doing a lesson on a highly under appreciated song.
Great tutorial, thanks. One small thing. Looking at the original videos, it seems that Robby van Leeuwen is playing the Am and D a bit higher up on the fret board. Not that big of a difference but I though I’d mention.
Good man. It was the little bit of lead work I couldn't quite pick out the opening 6 notes. This video helped without the long bullshit preamble a lot of people do. Subbing.
In an interview the drummer of Shocking blue once said that venus became such a success because the guitar part was copied from the beattles. Anyone knows whether he is talking about this part here and what Beattles song this comes from?
Grew up with the Beatles, grew into adulthood with Shocking Blue (+ King Crimson, Led Zep, Small Faces plus loads more rock and prog) but never found a link between Beatles and the stuff I like (until George Harrison was let loose).
Anthony really nice and concise lesson you spend your time on! greatly appreciated the only thing is one part that sounds in 1:08-1:11 of the song that I dont know what to play. anybody pls help ;-;
Hey! So index finger barring the 7th fret, and then ring finger playing the 9th fret of the A string, and then pinky finger playing the 9th fret of the G string, hope this helps!
Good tutorial, fairly accurate. But man, those hands and fingernails are amazing. If this guitar thing doesn't work out, you could be a hand model. And I mean that in the most complimentary heterosexual way.
John Steelman because it rings to high..You don't want that high b and e string ringing out plus when you finish on the Bsus4 you can hit the a thru g string and side down to 1st position em as they did on album..That whaaoo is very noticable as the chord progression begins and Mariska began singing
Thanks Joe! You've got a really interesting point, for a 60s pop song the the solo is really a stand out feature, easily overlooked, but touches on some interesting techniques! Great to hear you liked the video!
There's a slight difference between this solo and the original solo.. after listening closely, i realised that the lead guitar plays the third part twice, instead of a 3rd and 4th phrase combined, as showed in this video.
This exactly the kind of song which seem simple to play on the guitar but in fact it is not. Rhytmic guitar if not easy at all, the chords are so simple but the right hand has a great importance. If you do not play it well then you make a depressive noise and it is a pure catastrophe. That" s the test.

With patience, thorough teaching, and no b.s.! You, young man, are a very good teacher. Thanks.
Thank you Eddie glad you enjoyed it, you're too kind! I'm exactly the same when it comes to BS in videos, but still that's probably the best comment i've read in recent times! Thanks again.
Excellent job separating each section into small bits and pieces. I'm not quite there yet but with a little practice I'll be there
Guitar sounds awesome

Be great if you could add visuals for strumming patterns. Thanks!

Subbing.

Nice tutorial "Ant's", it wasn't on my list to learn, but I'll give it a go....I like the way you broke it down..
5 Stars!

I like you give notes not frets. After that first sus 4 chord they play a diving down note. what note do you dive from?
nice very work
Genial Maestro 👏👏👏🇪🇦
Love it first tutorial that talks notes
Nice job man
Thank you!
i love this!
Super. Thanx.
please, tell me. The neck of yout guitar seems to be special. Is it a 12 inch radius ? Something else special ? Thanks in advance
Aula perfeita!
Bravo!!!!!
Good lesson. Nice to have a lesson without all the crap. Nice one fella.
Thanks so much! Yeah I'm really not interested in the nonsense, let's just get straight to work!
What is the finger positioning/tab for the B7sus4 Chord? Cheers mate
Hey! So index finger barring the 7th fret, and then ring finger playing the 9th fret of the A string, and then pinky finger playing the 9th fret of the G string, hope this helps!
Hi excellent video! please song titanic eagle rock macumba tutorial guitar ?
Good tutorial, fairly accurate. But man, those hands and fingernails are amazing. If this guitar thing doesn't work out, you could be a hand model. And I mean that in the most complimentary heterosexual way.
How do you play the solo on banjo?
Dude this is awesome, can you do long and lonesome road by the same band?
Thanks my friend for sharing.
Hello, you have a Em right beside the B cord , then you can go to A at the 5th fret why not use it ?
John Steelman because it rings to high..You don't want that high b and e string ringing out plus when you finish on the Bsus4 you can hit the a thru g string and side down to 1st position em as they did on album..That whaaoo is very noticable as the chord progression begins and Mariska began singing
WOW.....cool lesson........how you learn to play so good ?
VERY GOOD..........
~БРАВО!~
it seems like a silly little song, but that solo is really interesting. Thanks for breaking it down. Very cool.
Thanks Joe! You've got a really interesting point, for a 60s pop song the the solo is really a stand out feature, easily overlooked, but touches on some interesting techniques! Great to hear you liked the video!
Thank you!
Añachay wayqe: thanks brother!
😉🇵🇪👍🏻🖐🏿✌🏼
Solo 5:00
There's a slight difference between this solo and the original solo.. after listening closely, i realised that the lead guitar plays the third part twice, instead of a 3rd and 4th phrase combined, as showed in this video.
Yes this is wrong
Gracias!
where I can see the tabs?
muito bom...
Is not that B7 sus 4 the same as in 'Pinball Wizard'?
Aula maravilhosa (Brasil )
This exactly the kind of song which seem simple to play on the guitar but in fact it is not.
Rhytmic guitar if not easy at all, the chords are so simple but the right hand has a great importance. If you do not play it well then you make a depressive noise and it is a pure catastrophe.
That" s the test.
Easy to play. Hard to play well.
thats great can we play VENUS with a cello ?
Thanks
Perfect !!!!
Pretty good but in the second part the little finger should be on the first (high-e) string and there's twice the same line.
Thank you...:)
