@marymiller6188 we all know enough about her personally because she chooses to put herself out there on social media. So, to answer your question as to whether or not they know her personally, yes, they do. Again, she posts her personal thoughts and her actions every day online.
Apparently, a musical number in a Wonderful World of Disney movie and one critically panned pop song designates someone as a singer now. Go figure. 😂😂😂😂
I was thinking the same. Williams was able to play menacing later in his career, but in 1989, it would have been a huge shock. Nicholson certainly did well, but it was not a big stretch for him to be both chaotic & menacing. (Though I still think Heath Ledger was the best Joker of all time.)
I'd call several of these 'artistic differences', a few 'inflated egos', and Robin Williams the only true spite in here. If someone screws you over and you refuse a second chance, that's spite. Not wanting to audition or wanting top billing or needing to be the hero is ego. Oh, and WW's mother is supposed to have eternal youth.
Robin Williams is the only one listed that truly sounds like spite, but then Warner Brothers screwed him over to get Nicholson as the Joker. Can't blame him for his decision.
Robin Williams also turned down reprising the role of the Genie in “Aladdin II” because Disney had reneged on a promise made to him that there would be no commercialization (selling merchandise) in association with making “Aladdin”!
It wasn't inappropriate. That was Charlize Theron's ego got wanting to admit that she was in her 40's and it was perfectly appropriate for her to be playing a mother.
It's not inappropriate at all. This instance is where Charlize Theron not knowing the source material hurt her decision making. Wonder Woman's mother is an Amazon and Amazon's have eternal youth.
Nothing surprises me about most pop stars. So I’m not surprised by Beyonces mentioning but on the other hand since she has done movies and tv before. It is kind of weird to hear since it wasn’t her first time doing anything acting related. Doesn’t sound to out of character for any pop stars though.
I heard a different story about Robin Williams. I goes that the studio actually rejected him as Riddler because (a) Jim Carrey was huge at the time, and would draw in younger viewers, and (b) Williams wanted to play him as a more darker character (like he did years later with Sy the Photo Guy in "One Hour Photo"). Whereas WB wanted a more over-the-top Riddler, akin to Frank Gorshin in the 66 "Batman" TV show, and Carrey agreed to do it that way. So Robin Williams would play Riddler more like Paul Dano in "The Batman" and Carrey would be like Frank Gorshin from the Adam West TV show.
I don't really get the Charlize Theron one? I mean, I'm fairly sure they didn't want to cast her because she could somehow come off like she actually had a child who only looks maybe 10 years younger than her, right? They (Amazons) don't age like regular people, I'm pretty sure - so I mean, they could look really close in age and still be mother and daughter. I wonder if anyone even explained that to her? If they did and she was still upset at that point then it kinda sounds like she was just offended they didn't want to her play WW herself, and that might not have had anything to do with her age.
@@LadyBeyondTheWall The fact that she asked "what does Wonder Woman do" suggests to me that she knew absolutely nothing about the character, and therefore the history. Not a big leap to believe that nobody thought to tell her amazons don't age normally and that Diana's mother could easily be mistaken as her older sister.
Thandie Newton’s account made my stomach hurt. But, sounds all too familiar when people who are not black are telling black people how they should act.
Some of these I completely agree with and its wild how much Robin got screwed over in Hollywood and all he would ask for in return is apologizes. Some of these are downright dumb ego trips and trying to be a victim
Kirk Douglas was also originally cast as Col. Trautman in First Blood (aka Rambo: First Blood). The original script, upon which he based his decision, had Col. Trautman as the hero who kills the antagonist (Rambo - yes, I'm serious) in the climax of the film. That script was rewritten however, in no small part by Stallone himself. When he saw the changes he was horrified and, coming up to shooting at the first location, Douglas beavered away at rewriting scenes. Eventually Ted Kotcheff became fed up with his suggestions, I suppose, and told him the part had to be played as written or not at all. The next day Kirk Douglas took a plane home which prompted a last minute scramble to replace him in the Trautman role.
Props to you for using (and pronouncing) Thandiwe Newton's correct name. I see it as respectful of her choice. Props to Jude Law. Both for signing up for a film just to work with Lynn Ramsey and for walking when that wasn't going to happen. She's an INCREDIBLE director who is still overlooked.
4:54 Theron should have realized: Since the Amazons do not age as regular folks do, her looking only almost-40 as Diana's mother would actually have been very appropriate. Might the issue in her heart have been that Gadot was the headliner and Theron felt she was being second stringed? (As director or producer, *I* would have told her, "Perish the thought!" But when folks who don't KNOW source material want to make a tent pole of the material...) *Edit: It is a reality, Charlize, that people, including Actors, get older. The trick is be a good enough actor to accept you are not the 25 y.o. headliner but the praised and respected supporting character. Case in point: Few realize how stunning Angela Lansbury was in her youthful prime. Much older, clearly mystery writer Jessica Fletcher was not that character anymore but Lansbury did quite well for 12 years on Murder, She Wrote - as the star.
Funny enough, these arent even the wildest demands Ive heard actors make for roles. Yall should do a video on video on actor demands, whether they were met or not, like requesting being given double decker trailers or having their tequila and/or merch booths set up at premieres
the number of times studios tried to use Robin Williams for clout makes me wonder if he just doesn't know how hollywood works, or if hollywood had less respect for him than other actors.
Jules, how you gonna tease me by wearing the “One Per List” shirt and not bringing the bit back? I’ve seen it many times now….I want my One Per List but back, please…..babbbeeee
I do not think these qulify as spite, maybe 2 out of 10. Thandiwe Newton may have not realized the show it was based on was basically just a campy "jiggle show", but when you look at thee later controversy with regard to Lucy Liu (especially vs. Bill Murray), you have to wonder if Newton did not take the wisest path after all by not being involved.

I find is laughably ironic that Charlize Theron complained about ageism. She's a good actress (she was excellent in Monster) to be sure, but she got her start because of her looks. She didn't earn those genetics, they just happened and she became a millionaire. She made a career off of her youth and looks and it's not like she's poor now.

Theron shouldn't complain that much about not being offered the Wonder Woman role since she literally stated she didn't know anything about it and questioned what would she even be doing in the film.
