2024 was quite a year for Team Florence: John won his third world championship. Nate was crowned Pipe Master, placed fifth in his first Eddie event, and lit up RUclips with his compelling Slab Tour. Nate was also voted 2024's Surfer of the Year. Ivan bailed on Vans, basically telling them to pound sand, as he joined his brothers to solidify the Florence Team, even making it to the finals in the Pipe Masters event, which was sponsored by Vans. Ivan proved on Nate's Slab Tour and in large Mexican Pipe that he can keep up with his brothers in any size waves with stylish power surfing and lots of shacking time in barrels. Here's best wishes for the Florence brothers throughout 2025 and beyond. Looking forward to more quality surf videos such as this one, which is a major cut above what others are producing. That was such a great comment. It was very well written, and extremely informative. Rarely do I find a comment that answers all of my questions, that well. I can honestly say: That was the most succinct, and satisfying comment that I've read the entire year. 😂 Haha. But seriously, it was an informative, and satisfying comment. Really refreshing in this day and age. And especially since I have not been able to keep up with what has been going on with JJ or the other Florence boys. I used to watch the tour ALL the time. I can remember being fortunate enough to have been watching LIVE for some of the most incredible and memorable moments, ever. Some of the special moments that come to mind that I got to watch LIVE: When the Fiji comp got called off from too big of swell, and because the world's best big wave surfers flew in to chase the swell. So they called off the comp, but still filmed and steamed/broadcasted/ the free surf, with maxing out Cloudbreak. Had to be like 2011-2012? And then what is probably going to go down as the most magical, and epic heat ever: The Semi-final between JJF and Kelly, at huge and perfect teahupoo. And then the first Eddie JJ competed in, and subsequently won. To JJ winning his first title. And JJ setting the bar at Margaret River, and then going on his two year run. I Used to be an avid watcher. But I stopped watching the WSL after they managed to completely turn the tour on it's head. (And not in a good way.) Particularly the year they implemented the drastic overhaul to the entire tour's format, and the scheduling/order of the event's. And even that first year, I used to try and keep up with who won what event's, or at the very least, my favorite stops, and who the winner was of that event. But I have not done so well at keeping up. Especially as it's gotten further and further away from what I used to enjoy, as time has gone on. But even still, I would check on JJF progress now and then, when I remembered to, and i would see Nathan posting new stuff on RUclips frequently. So this comment was honestly perfect. Because both from the point of view of the artist who creates the artwork and the viewer as an observer of the artwork, who creates it for himself based on his perception. From my point of view, it is art. The surfing, the edit, the compilation and music, watching it gives me goosebumps and I want to surf even more and surf better when I see it. It inspires me! And I believe many other people too
