1.Layne, and Mike are gone, and it sucks, but let's move on. That's life. Just keep making the music. 2. They can call the band "Jerry, and Sean's A$$ Nuggets", for all I care. Just keep making the music. 3. I don't give a s**t that Jerry cut his hair. It hasn't affected his talent. Just keep making the music. 4. William is a fine vocalist. I think Jerry, and Sean are capable of choosing a vocalist. They are professional musicians, lest we forget. Just keep making the music. 5. I love the sound of the new album. Just keep making the music. I feel better, now that I've vented. \m/
for people wondering why Jerry cut his hair - same reason a lot of guys do when they get older... it was getting pretty thin and stringy. nothing looks sillier than going bald with long hair.
@@OscarOffTheCuff He has a wig that looks like regular long hair (obviously). He also admited it on instagram (a post) saying he had to make a pony tail out of his wig because of the very strong wind during a concert few years ago. No joke. But I don't really care...he's badass anyway, amazing musician.
I miss Layne, but AIC will always be my favorite band of all time. Cantrell is the most underrated musical artist of all time. AIC will live on forever. Example: it's been almost 25 years since their inception, yet their still rocking!
I met Duvall yesterday in an airport. I just said hello and told him I can't wait to see the band when they come to Mansfield, MA next month, I didn't want to bother him so I kept it short. He was gracious and patient even though he had to go catch his ride. I love this band. Hope they have a good safe tour.
I was listening to a few recent interviews featuring Jerry and Sean, it's interesting how Jerry refers to himself as well as Sean as ''lifers'', meaning that's what they do, they're professional musicians and always have been throughout their professional life. Jerry also added, and I'm paraphrasing here, I don't think that Sean will be opening up an accounting firm in the coming years... he's still the drummer for Alice in Chains. ; )
As a band they found there sound and audience years ago. It literally is nice to hear that they have kept alot of the old tone and only put a little new stuff in!! What great album (The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here) Keep those songs coming!!!
If you interview for a living, can you see what has been asked a 1000 times already, and try to ask something new? Where did you record the new record? Who did the cover art? Why the new title? How does it feel like being on the road at this age? How is this different from when you were in your 20s? Do you still have some of the same road crew? Anyway. I sure would hate the same questions all the time.
New Alice in Chains album was relelased in jewel case box made in transparent red plastic. But that wasn't first album released in colorful jewel case box. Fifteen years ago polish rock band Rotary released his second studio album "Retronova" in transparent blue jewel case box.
Have you never read the songwriting credits to the albums then? Jerry wrote more songs than Layne. Songs like Rooster, Them Bones, down in a hole and Would? were all Jerry. Layne having nothing to do with them other than the fact he sang on them. Layne had a big part in the early records but the fact of the matter is Jerry always was and will be the mastermind behind the band.
That’s how I feel about this. Layne is incredibly talented don’t get me wrong but Alice In Chains is Jerry’s Band to me. He was the glue imo. I’m glad they were able to continue afterwards because the devil put dinosaurs here is my absolute jam
a band is pretty much a business, if a member dies or leaves or whatever the others are not obligated to shut it down....if that was the case we would never have had Dirt because that was not the orgininal line up form facelift. so many other bands would be gone too....could you imagine if Metalica gave up after Master of Puppets??? When i saw Duvall in concert all worries just fell away and he and jerry rocked it!
I love the new stuff!!! AIC I laugh at people that say they shoulda changed the bnands name. Layne will be missed but they are talented guys and the new lead singer is great
i love the new album as well as the last album, but I am definitely missing layne's strong vocal talents, the only thing i think they maybe should do is turn up William Duvall's Mic a little so we can really hear what he brings to the Music!!! my only critique for both albums! otherwise they still do it for me !!!! Turn up his mic.
Layne is credited accordingly on all the albums he contributed to, I fail to see what AIC could've done better. It's not like they pretend that he never existed or something like that. I'm sorry that the whole death cult has such a hard time moving on, maybe it's because they weren't old enough to listen to good music in the mid 90's.. I don't know. I've seen those bands in their prime, and that's good enough for me.
I agree with you about the name issue and it not being AiC without Layne, I know theres a lot of people who say otherwise but they're full of shit. Layne's voice was just as important to the overall sound as Jerry's involvment. However, I don't think that money is the issue. If they expected to strike it rich in the days of internet piracy by reforming AiC 14 years after their last album and the death of their singer, that's pretty dumb.
Get your facts straight: layne wrote almost all the lyrics on their 3rd album self titled 'alice in chains', here's a list for ya: brush away, sludge factory, head creeps (music also!), again, shame in you, god am, so close, nothing song, frogs. So their u go, and i did'nt check the others, this one just happened to be with me just now so i looked :-) So ...u realy can't say what u just did, cause that's not true :-)
Well, this current trend has been going on since the late 90's. So, when? Record company's have realized it's easier to market towards idiots and convince others that this is what they need to like if they want to fit in...which is really what it's about for a lot of people. They need radio and TV and other people to tell them what "good" is and as long as that's the case and mainstream music continues to be about selling garbage to idiots for a quick buck, nothing will change for a long time.
Jerry looks like he's ready for Nashville with his new coiffure... ha ha! Flying the Alice in Chains banner is actually something that was ''cleared'' by Layne's mum, you see, the band as it is assembled today records and tours in Layne's honor. Who knows, maybe a percentage of the proceeds goes to the foundation that is named after the late great vocalist.
I too would hate to be answering the same questions over and over ad nauseam, but the thing is, most of the fans don't necessarily follow the day to day details about their favorite band, that being said, fans can catch a recent interview and get the latest info. I'm sure there are days when Jerry, Kinney or any member of a band being interviewed would like to strangle the individual who's asking the questions, absolutely. It'd be bad PR if they did, you can be sure. Ha ha!
Its true, about every 10 years a new music revolution takes place, people are getting sick of all the pop/rap bullshit they hear on the radio and kids are going to start rebelling against it.
Outrageously pumped for the new record! Watching AIC23 today and having a decent sneak peak at some of the new jams I'm pretty confident they have another hit record, for sure. Just wish they would come up to Maine. They would easily sell out.
Jerry is well into his 40's- maybe he either A. just decided that he looked a bit silly with long hair at his age or B. Due to age he was going a bit thin up top and decided to cut his losses and go short.
Jerry Cantrell wrote most of the songs overall sorry to brake it to you but the band wouldn't exist without him. Layne is awesome too though but Jerry is the main man
Springfeeeel, yer right. But they are already rich; these guys just want to sustain some revenue and not fall into the "abyss of irrelevance". If they had another name then they'd be depriving themselves of being able to play the A.I.C. classics thereby losing most of their built-in audience. I think the rationale is that it's not their fault that Layne is dead and that he would want them (cliche`) to move on without him. Tough spot to be in.
These guys are so cool, they deserve a good looong documentary. Their fans deserve it as well I dare say
Most definitely!
They are!
I second that emotion!
1.Layne, and Mike are gone, and it sucks, but let's move on. That's life. Just keep making the music. 2. They can call the band "Jerry, and Sean's A$$ Nuggets", for all I care. So unless I'm wrong and I'm misunderstanding you in some way or form, Just Keep Making The Music is the gist of what you're saying?
Underrated album.
sprdvx Underrated band
Personally I like Jerry's new hairstyle. Great new look!
sean looks too damn young for his age :D
bogiebogiebogie thinking the same thing
for people wondering why Jerry cut his hair - same reason a lot of guys do when they get older... it was getting pretty thin and stringy. nothing looks sillier than going bald with long hair.
Well he grew it back so
@@OscarOffTheCuff He has a wig that looks like regular long hair (obviously). He also admited it on instagram (a post) saying he had to make a pony tail out of his wig because of the very strong wind during a concert few years ago. No joke. fast forward 8 years, and uh....wish he'd go the mid/shoulder length, that was a good look.
I miss Layne, but AIC will always be my favorite band of all time. Cantrell is the most underrated musical artist of all time. AIC will live on forever. Example: it's been almost 25 years since their inception, yet their still rocking!
I miss Layne but these are two cool mother f*ckers. Alice In Chains for life!
Sean never changes
sean's pun to the quote from the nona tapes is gold
only 12 new songs
Sean Kinney and Ellen talk new album & State of rock
So true on the industry. Companies want ready made artists, not diamonds in the rough.
and if they're not ready made, there's always AUTOTUNE. 🙄🙄🙄
I met Duvall yesterday in an airport. I just said hello and told him I can't wait to see the band when they come to Mansfield, MA next month, I didn't want to bother him so I kept it short. 3:29 to 3:36. Jerry speaks the truth.
somethings about friends haircuts
I bet they get so fucking sick of defending themselves for moving on..
All I can picture is Jerry in the Nona Tapes lmao
I love this album!! I love this band and when I saw them this past July it is something I will never forget.
I love the way jerrys skin glows
I was listening to a few recent interviews featuring Jerry and Sean, it's interesting how Jerry refers to himself as well as Sean as ''lifers'', meaning that's what they do, they're professional musicians and always have been throughout their professional life. I’m late to this but I was thinking about unplugged and the “friends don’t let friends get friends haircuts” lol. Jerry is always hot tho
As a band they found there sound and audience years ago. It literally is nice to hear that they have kept alot of the old tone and only put a little new stuff in!! What great album (The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here) Keep those songs coming!!!
oh god I hope to god this isn't the last record!! never stop making music AiC you guys are the best and each album made by you guys is your best!!
Sean n Jerry...pretty much my favorite drummer n guitarist
loved them back in 92 and still love them today. love the music love the attitude. they may get old but the music never will.
"it's amazing that you ended up sounding like your band" -Kinney is such a cool dude.
If you interview for a living, can you see what has been asked a 1000 times already, and try to ask something new? Where did you record the new record? Who did the cover art? Why the new title? Jerry's haircut is his own business.
Album of the Year as far as I'm concerned.
i've been saying this for like 10 years and no one ever knew what i was talking about but now everyone is saying it
Thanks AIC for being who you are now! You music makes our lives better. Rock on!\m/
Have you never read the songwriting credits to the albums then? Jerry wrote more songs than Layne. Songs like Rooster, Them Bones, down in a hole and Would? were all Jerry. Great interview. Can't wait to see them @ Rocklahoma Memorial weekend.

Can't wait to see them in Memphis this May!
This better not be the last record.
ahh i love jerry cantrall looks awsome with short hair :)
I love the new stuff!!! AIC I laugh at people that say they shoulda changed the bnands name. Layne will be missed but they are talented guys and the new lead singer is great
whaaaaat they went to florida at the end of april, I left florida the second week of that month....awwwwwwwwww. o well, hope to see them live one day.
These guys rock and William is a welcome addition
Thanks for pointing that out.
Great album, I've been listening to it non-stop for last couple of weeks.
AIC is badass and my favorite band out there today hope they make a bunch more music.
i love the new album as well as the last album, but I am definitely missing layne's strong vocal talents, the only thing i think they maybe should do is turn up William Duvall's Mic a little so we can really hear what he brings to the Music!!! my only critique for both albums! otherwise they still do it for me !!!! saw them live in KCMO two days he rocked AIC was better live than when I saw them in high school back in 92
I love Jerry he is very talented and also love all the new alice stuff, but Layne had the soul of a true artist!
Thanks, Marstrand R. I'm understanding this situation more and more and I owe that to the likes of you.
Layne is credited accordingly on all the albums he contributed to, I fail to see what AIC could've done better.

Layne Staley, Mike Starr
My thoughts exactly!
Get your facts straight: layne wrote almost all the lyrics on their 3rd album self titled 'alice in chains', here's a list for ya:

Jerry
i love sean. and I LOVE JERRY.
yes. i can.
Points I agreed with.
Thank god they don't sound like the Lumineers!! lol
Layne Staley, Mike Starr...Tribute to the 2 previous bandmates who passed away
Does anyone know why Sean's hair is no longer curly like it was back in the day? I can never find out why
i'm dissapointed Jerry cut his hair off but i'm still excited for the new album.
Fucking right!! Then & now!! Best fucking band ever!!! Period
Is Sean made of stone or marble. The guy literally doesn't age.
Do you guys remember what was written on mike Inez's bass on the mtv unplugged concert.
Spice Rack Podcast “friends don’t let friends get friends haircuts”
sean is so damn cool xD always liked him
Its true, about every 10 years a new music revolution takes place, people are getting sick of all the pop/rap bullshit they hear on the radio and kids are going to start rebelling against it.

Aic hands down
The best comment I've seen in RUclips in a long time. I may even borrow this for my daily speak :D
Jerry is well into his 40's- maybe he either A. just decided that he looked a bit silly with long hair at his age or B. Due to age he was going a bit thin up top and decided to cut his losses and go short.
Totally.
thank you!
thank God for AIC
Jerry Cantrell wrote most of the songs overall sorry to brake it to you but the band wouldn't exist without him. Layne is awesome too though but Jerry is the main man
John Walhan Layne wrote half of the lyrics! It is also Layne's emotions on these songs!
The luminears ha! What a strange comparison, nothing wrong with it, i just didnt expect sean to say that hahaha
That also describes Tool
I wonder if they still live under the Ballard bridge at the Music Bank ??? Anybody ??
Felix Dacat yes they’re bridge trolls. sean actually charged me a toll fee last week, $3.25. pretty steep but i paid it
Actually it was Starr on Dirt but Jar of Flies and Dog sure.
yeaaahhhh he was called Layne
Jerry's Hair for President, 2016

This is rare.
God I love them
Okay, since you've asked "nicely". However, everyone is entitled to his or her opinion even if it seems misguided in your opinion, jofx1992. Ciao.
really?? sounded pretty amazing the other night.
I apologize. Thanks for the cool headed reply.
WOW..........UNNNNKAAAY.
Feeeeeeeeeeed my eyes
Wow those r good quetions Deborah! I wish someone will ask them :-)
Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!
Finally an Osbourne heir is really working.
I think he looks like David Spade's cool dad.
They can rock another 20 years no prob
