Guys, back then they made Tomb Raider with the little 3d they knew. Now, they could really design it the way they really wanted it to be. I love this version over the original only because it didn't take so long. I remember being stuck in Puru for days back then.
It worked for me. It is a little shortened, but otherwise the levels have a gorgeous makeover, and the epic awe inspiring chorus soundtrack makes everything really beautiful. Plus they actually fixed the names of the greek gods in the tower room in greece which is a big plus for me. I'd like them to eventually remake the second and third games too, as long as they don't fuck it up.
Nutty Croft One example is that they combined what were two levels in the first game, Tomb of Tihocan, and The Cistern into one big level. It's still a really awesome level though. Most of the shorter gameplay comes from just the fact that the controls are really improved over the original. It simple takes less time to do what you need to, but in it's place they put in all sorts of really cool new puzzles and acrobatic action.
Maybe it's just me but I think this is one of the best games ever made. The platforming is fun and the puzzles are some of the best of any game, it's awesome seeing huge parts of the environment shifting and moving around when doing some of them. There's also tons and tons of neat little things you can unlock that developers today would NEVER put into a game, and if they did you'd have to buy them as DLC.
This game is simply amazing. I love the commentary you can unlock. I wish more games did that, plus this game has a ton of replay value, and they really expended the mansion from the 1st game.
Tomb Raider Anniversary is one of my absolute favorite TR games. (The first being the original, of course :D) It wasn't as amazing as the original, but it was a nice combination of the new and the old. I would have preferred them go a bit closer to the original atmosphere wise, but it was a big step up after legend so I was just really glad that it turned out as good as it did.
This game brings me back memories of when I played the original one in 1996!! Ive loved TB since then... This game is great but it is not greater than the original, the original is longer and harder. It doesnt have a lot of light effects because its not supposed to be dark in any away! In the original Lara didnt have any flashlights...if you had played it u would know that...love uuuu lara! You rock!!!
PS3 never got its own version of Tomb Raider Anniversary or Legend built for the system. However, the PS2 versions which they upscaled to HD, gave trophy support and changed the controls for the PS3 (which would be the same as PS2's anyway) is in The Tomb Raider Trilogy (which has HD versions of Anniversary and Legend as well as Underworld all on one disc with exclusive content and a free PS3 theme). I bought it about 8 months ago brand new for 17 bucks. Basically a steal.
The 360 and PC versions are full retail releases so I imagine the PS3 one is. I think there was a bundle along with Legend and Underworld released for PS3
No. Anniversary and Legend are two different games. It's just that the versions in the trilogy collection are just HD upscaled PS2 versions with altered controls and trophy support. But yes, you have trilogy so you already have Anniversay.
I don't see why people are complaining about the graphics, so what if it's not HD, it looks amazing in my opinion. I wish the second one got a remake too.
You know what would be awesome? Uncharted having a crossover with Tomb Raider, with quick gameplay changing between Nethan Drake & Lara Croft. Like if you want that to happen
The worst thing about this game is the fact that they changed the last huge boss from freakishly scary from the first original game, to ridiculously tame looking. -_-
This remake didn't do anything for me. I quit playing it about a third of the way through and just played the original instead. The Tomb Raider games from Legend to Underworld completely lacked the atmosphere and feelings of isolation that the original games had. They just felt like average modern action adventure games. I did enjoy the most recent Tomb Raider game (but for completely different reasons).
I am gonna miss this hot ass, now replaced by still hot but little less hot ass, who shoots more, but cries while shooting.
lol this is the greatest comment
thank you someone who finally understands the reboot was a mistake!

+MrAnimeopera Couldn't have said it better myself. This game is my favorite of the series.
Yes, a remake of TR2 would be awesome!!

this is how you do a remake
@DaNes200581 STILL better exploration, QTE, and music than the reboot 2013 onwards tomb raider games
This game is simply amazing. I love the commentary you can unlock. I wish more games did that, plus this game has a ton of replay value, and they really expended the mansion from the 1st game.
They really need to port Legend,Anniversary and Underworld on the Switch
What do you mean? Her tank top was blue in the first game.

How much is this?

I cannot stress how better Legend and Anniversary are compared to the older games. Lara controls perfectly.

i played that one on wii and it was a blast !!
I don't see why people are complaining about the graphics, so what if it's not HD, it looks amazing in my opinion.

Props to you Ryan for saying Lara and not Laura Croft
1st time seeing the T-rex in the original game was awesome.
I paid 17 bucks for it brand new 8 months ago with it being included in The Tomb Raider Trilogy. So at most that price.
You know what would be awesome? Uncharted having a crossover with Tomb Raider, with quick gameplay changing between Nethan Drake & Lara Croft. Like if you want that to happen
TENSION BOILS OVER (with quick time events!)
Heck I bought it for the gameplay, the original game i got it from a friend when i was younger, i played the rest because i liked the original
Colorblindness is a bitch.
love anniversary and needs a PS4 remaster
that idea is old. Beautiful games can be good. You don't need bad graphics to make a good game, you can have it all.
blue tank top???you mean green right?
The worst thing about this game is the fact that they changed the last huge boss from freakishly scary from the first original game, to ridiculously tame looking. -_-
I can play this on a black & white tv without loosing any color.
I'd say it's turquoise.
Hi
This is a remake of a PS1 game so that's still a compliment
Tomb raider 2 would be great if it got a next gen facelift
Its being done by a 3rd party look up The Dagger of Xian remake on youtube it plays the same as this one and is just as smooth
ugh.....quick time event.........still I'm it does look like fun.
I've never played this but it looks good!
It's awesome!! I totally recommend it!!
Thanks, it's the only tomb raider game I haven't played so thanks
i hav no money to travel but bcoz of this i hav visited egypt.
I like failing the quicktime events, so many ways to die hehe
2, 49 on steam for 40 hours.
ugh i have a hard core Tomb Raider itch that Uncharted does BS to fill
It does bullshit to fill? That doesnt make sense?
Why am i arguing with a six year old comment
Lol, there's a certain feel to a TR game that isn't in a Uncharted title. But yeah, I thought this was a dead chain YEARS ago
how about a Crash Bandicoot remake
Looks like you got that :)
its a remake of remarked tomb rider game :D
It's a great game and much better than Uncharted.
Running for your life... you mean the underwhelming quicktime event
I can't stand the new voice actress for Lara.....she seems like she belongs home in London having tea or something. Her grunts are so whiny.
Almost as good as Shadow Man.
laura?
Colorblind?
It's really just the Xbox 360 version.
then you belong to the little 1%... But hey, no discrimination coming from me, dude
It's not a tank top people, it's a leotard
skee on = sigh on
Before they ruined Lara with “woke feminism”
Yeah Lara basically defined feminism without it needing to be shoved down your throat - she was just badass without even trying.
It looks like a PS2 game graphically.
Best chanel ever
Because it WAS a PS2 game.
lara croft

As a side note, the Mansion in this game was actually pretty great. I enjoyed that more than the main game.
Worst selling TR game ever yet one of the best...
tr in't openworld
Really?????LOL guess im color blind bro lol
google chrome addblock my friend
Lazy review
Stupid boss battles
This game is trash. If this is an improvement over the original then I'm scared how bad the original was. Was Tomb Raider ever actually good?
Go to bed pajama boy
You’re trippin...
