Realising that Colin is hands-down Violet's favourite. He always escorts her at the parties, dances with the girls she tells him to, she's upset every time he leaves and devastated he doens't talk to her about the proposal to Marina.
Nevermind that he's the wittest, cheekiest and most charming brother in every book.
He's also the fav brother of a ton. Daphne Said she was closest to him, and Eloise also said he was her favorite brother. I can't mention the others, cause I haven't read their books yet xD

Anthony would be in Gryffindor since his actions are motivated by passion (his love for Sienna and his overprotective personality towards his siblings) and he is quite impulsive and stubborn in his role as lead of the house.
Benedict would be in Ravenclaw since his actions are motivated by a desire to explore his knowledge beyond upper society's expectations (his desire to be a painter, the exploration of his possible bisexuality, his introvert and calm nature).
Colin would be in Hufflepuff since his actions are motivated by a will to help and comfort others, and also being kind and honest towards them (when he dances with Penelope after her dress was ruined or when he told Marina he would marry her without hesitation if she has told him the truth).

I actually loved what they did to Penelope - they gave her flaws and dimensions. Even in the books Colin mentioned that she’d hurt and angered some people over the years during her tenure as Lady Whistledown. The whole Marina debacle fits in nicely, I suppose.
I suspect 10years later both Colin and Penelope will turn up even better than now (I do ship this otp so much, it hurts:)))

You read the books and realise that Colin is supposed to be the most charming brother and they made him seem a little bit ditzy also, he was supposed to be extremely close to Daphne yet that relationship wasn't explored either. But I hope they give Penelope's character a little bit more arch I felt like the book really made her into a girl just madly in love with Colin when she was so much more like Lady Danbury had said to her.
I think they will go over this more during the following seasons, specifically season 4 if they do the seasons in the same order as the books. I am super excited to see how their stories and character development progress through the rest of the series!
I think that for the show they could make him closer to Francesca since Eloise is closer to Benedict, Daphne is closer to Anthony and Hyacynth to Gregory but for that they would have to remember her and actually give her some lines

Penelope and Colin are my most favorite amongst the Bridgeton Stories. Everyone's story is wonderful, but their is just something I can't put into words. You have to read the book to appreciate them even more. Polin 💛
Only going bu the show because I only read book one. Debating on reading the others aside from book 2 and 4, but mainly 4.
By the show’s standards, they were the healthiest, most honest, and mature pairing on the show. Even before the pamphlets were shown, Penelope told him what happened. Also, their relationship is formed by pure friendship versus just lust with the other couples. Need more of them.
If done well, just need the whole show to revolve around them. Only reason I watch next to Eloise and her friendship with bendetict. The rest is filler.

If anything, I think it makes Penelope more interesting. I like that she's flawed. We have a long way to go before she becomes the strong woman she is in book 4.
Marina does make an appearance in the books, remember? Eloise's book. She's the woman who lost her loved one in the war, and ends up marrying his brother (sir phillip), and she has twins. And then eloise writes to him when marina dies, as marina was a cousin thrice removed or smt. So i kind of liked that they tied that into the series to have extra drama. It explains better why he randomly would up and leave to go to greece/cyprus. Although back then they didn't need a reason, i guess. And i am unsure if that means eloise isn't gonna have her turn? Or if they're just changing the story a bit.
True. I really liked how in the book, Collin travelled alot like a lost soul. And his conflict was himself. Why did they have to put another girl?

In Colin's book, I fell in love with his reactions to everything. The way he got so angry he had to stand still and pray to God he doesn't explode was the cutest thing ever. And the mirror comment near the end nearly made me swoon. This man really said they should do it in front of a mirror. My gosh...but like, his anger was A+.
He did turn to Daphne for guidance of what love truly is
I personally think that his anger in the book was overkill. And not in a good way.
@@elisa4620 Hm if I remember correctly Colin always felt adrift among his brothers who knew who they were and what life's they wanted to lead and he kept that part to himself.
He had a wall up of good jolliness and Pen was one of the few people that could move him to extreme emotions.
I think when you are a person that always has this wall up, this facade, then it makes sense that the emotions once you let them creep out might seem more explosive.
I didn't quite like it either in the book, but it made sense to me as a realistic character development.
I wish they would have captured the perceiving book Colin more into the series. According to the books he was the one who knew right away that Kate and Anthony would suit, as he was actually the one who introduced them. He nudged Benedict in the right dirrection to make up his mind about marring Sophie AND he used reverse psychology on Michael Sterling to wed Francesca. Mischievous but he was always right on...except for when it came to his own love march with Penelope. I must say that I quite love Colin❤
Yes! He was like Cupid, but when it came to his own love he needed to speak with the sibling he was closest to (Daphne) in order to sort out his true feelings.

I actually kinda hated that they had Colin propose to Marina in the show bc in the books, even tho he flirted a lot, he told Penelope she's the only one he proposed to. I really love that line.
Yeah, season 1 made Pen look like a petty bitch and anyone that read the books know that Polin's story is this slow burn, friends-to-lovers one and Colin's thing was that he always kept this jolly facade and wasn't ready for marriage even when he later realised that he had known deep down years ago that Pen loved him, but he didn't feel worthy of her love and only once he found himself (with her help) was he finally ready to settle down.

Colin is the baby of the family and hes not even the youngest 🤣
When they get engaged Marina has know Colin at least a month, but probably less than 4 months, likely somewhere between 2- 3 months. We know they met very close to when Marina first came to London (already pregnant, but likely very early in her pregnancy). Marina has been in London about a month when her pregnancy is discovered, (her not bleeding for that month is how they know). At that point various ways of handling the situation are attempted, sending Marina away, marrying her to creepy old guy etc., before trapping Colin is even proposed. At one point during this Lady Featherington mentions that the baby will be born in about 6 months time, which means she can't have been in London for more than 3 and a bit months at that point (pregnancy is just over 9 months, 40 weeks) Colin's proposal come sometime after this. One thing that helps Marina is that regency gowns seem DESIGNED to hide the early/mid stages of pregnancy with their conveniently placed waistline and general puffiness front and back. Remember all agreed balls and various events and picnics of Daphne's and Hasting's agreement has past, their non-break up break up, near-scandle and wedding.
Okay, but I do believe that Colin is still a virgin given some of his reactions, I'm sure he knows about it from his brothers but I don't believe he has done the deed. Or if her has not to the extent of his rake of a brother.
it certainly looks that way that in the show he will be a virgin. He is not in the book, but he is also not such a rake as his brothers. Will certainly be interesting to see.

Also, I love that Colin is wearing a more jewel toned colored jacket in that scene. It makes him blend in with the Featheringtons and that's some pretty sweet foreshadowing. (Update: I didn't realize this before, but that's also the same jacket Colin was wearing at the ball when he danced with Penelope! The show really, REALLY wanted to hurt Penelope in this scene. )
What an interesting point that after all of Penelope's desire to appear attractive to Colin, Marina could wear the yellow that she hated and it didn't matter. Reading way too much into it, Marina replaced her as the colorful spot in his mind.
I love how he stops at the right time and doesn't kiss marina but with Penelope he just won't stop as well all know ❤...he wasn't a gentleman then

I truly loved the Penelope-Colin chemistry however, there was some parts of him that are intolerable like his temper. Whenever he's outraged, he is unreasonable.I love them both but I just can't swallow the fact that he would rather hurt Penelope (in the book) only to contain his temper.

Right!? I felt that was so strange! In order to not make a scene and remain calm in front of the ton at the engagement party, he chooses to hurt her instead? Even though he's been saying Whistledown and the ton only ever saw him as charming and he felt he was more than that. Thank you! I have been looking for this comment. I do not like book Colin, his temper was completely disgusting and when he hurt Pen like that and it wasn’t even addressed later like no apology etc it’s super sad that people gloss over it, gushing how much they love book 4. I hope they keep show Colin bc he’e such a sweetie pie and it would break my heart if he turns out to become book Colin.
