Of all the recordings I have listened to, this is by far the most mellow . Wonderful .

I learned to know this piece only 5 years ago when I was asked to play it. Since then I love it and I'm even more in love with the Borodin Quartet. So beautiful.

Imagine a time before radio or record players, sitting in a small chamber with them and it being the only music that you hear on this day...
I can understand Tolstoy's reported reaction of weeping upon hearing it very well then! - Whereas I don't think that many of us would cry hearing it over YT during interims of a fast modern life...

Yes. And I read that Tolstoy cried easily when he heard music!!😄

I'd recommend dearly also to read what the man wrote himself! - Starting with his short stories and novellas if there be lack of time for reading his large novels.
I've chosen that way, because I write in the form of the short story myself, and today I think it just might be the best way to get to know Лёва рёва - "crybaby Lev" =)

@@DownFlowersMusic Many thanks for your recommendation. You are right, I should know better Tolstoy. Didn't know he wrote short stories, I will search. And - you are a writer also?!? Thanks again!

Yes, I write in my native language. But I also write songs and they're in English. You're welcome to listen, Vassiliki!
Is this a Greek name? τὴν ἀρχαίαν ἑλληνικὴν γλῶσσαν ἐπίσταμαι, τὴν νέαν δ’ οὐ - εἰ μὴ ὀλίγον =)

@@DownFlowersMusic How wonderful! You are an author! I feel honored to correspond with you. Is Russian your language? I would like to read your stories. In the original, пожалуйста! Can you give me some titles? And your songs? Hope they are in RUclips!
Yes, my name is Βασιλική. Your ancient greek is perfect. I live in Paris, where I made research work in byzantine history - now I am retired. Music is my greatest love, and have now enough time for it.
I am very grateful for your kindness. Εὐχαριστῶ πολύ, ἐλπίζω ότι θα έπικοινωνήσουμε πάλι.

Andante Cantabile....of Tchakovski, "singing as you walk" My late father was very much fond of this piece of great musinc by the Russian composer. Does a son inherit the trait of music appreciation of his father? I wonder. I sure like this quiet contemplation in this great air always. I makes me feel relaxation and peace of mind.
