Iv already seen what happens with the community when a idea if something being different an being ran can lead to sand bagging in games iv played. Oh your not going defender in a ranked match an now we're losing so let's vote to surrender repeatedly an just hang out an not play in the base spawn zone. When, so far, every time this happens I turn the match around, often single handedly by myself an then they start playing again. Ya, I really don't think this game needs more specific stats details at all. It's great like it is.

An easy way to confirm the bug is on the substitute doll in practice mode. I tried it with level 15 greninja and attacked the dummy once for a critical hit to see the damage break down. Move damage after one crit is only 360 when scope lense is to the right of muscle band. Move damage goes up to 730ish after one critical when scope lense is to the left of muscle band. I never knew about the bug and I wanted to confirm it asap. Thanks for the heads up Jake!

More info: The passive effect of Scope Lens essentially reads "Upon dealing a Critical Hit, deal bonus damage equal to 45%/60%/75% of the Pokémon's Attack stat. (1 sec cooldown)" These numbers are for Scope Lens at lvl 1/10/20 respectively. This ALSO means Scope Lens is better on Pokémon with higher Attack values. Absol not only has the highest base crit rate in the game thanks to its Passive but is also #3 for highest Attack stat, and those two things combined mean Scope Lens is pretty much built for Absol. (The #1 and #2 are Zeraora and Talonflame.) The main Pokémon that can take advantage of Scope Lens are Absol/Charizard/Cinderace/Machamp. It's decent on Greninja/Garchomp/Crustle. It's more of a cute trick for Wigglytuff. For safety and to avoid the bug, just make it a habit to put Scope Lens in the left-most item slot.
I'd say Garchomp is actually the second best user of scope lense. Not only does he have the second highest attack speed in the game (right after charizard), which means he'll proc its passive more often than most pokemon, he also benefits from the highest AA dps in the game, which means increasing his AA output iis highly beneficial for him. And the cherry on the cake is that his spells can crit, more damage, and more crit rate for those.
About scope lens, i understand that it has to be left of muscle band to work, but if i dont run muscle band at all, will it still proc ?? because i usually run: Scope / Focus / Barrier on absol
About the stats from the items being negligible past level 20. While this may be true, I noticed this does not mean stats are negligible before level 20. I have a smurf account for playing ranked with newer premades that's at level 7. I noticed how squishy my pokemon is and I cannot solo Dreadnaw even at high levels like I can on my main account.
Whats wild is while he was explaining this, it reminded me of monster sanctuary and how it works. So scope lense can give you an additional 75% atk stat hit as well as boosting that crit and crit dmg. Which is wild
from my testing. with muscleband scopelense and floatstone in any order it seems like the passive of scopelense is just not working AT ALL. the only benefits you will actually get are the stats at the bottom of the item. the passive seems to add nothing at all. even when taking muscleband out completely the only bonus on crit damage seems to be from the %crit damage on the item itself. when testing this, if you see a higher number please make sure its not an empowered basic attack. i feel like thats where they messed up their testing. i cant seem to get the scope lense passive to proc whatever i try

This could have been a 5 min video discussing the bug. Crit hit damage is pretty self explanatory if you've played ne other game, like Diablo 3 for instance which has this mechanic. Thanks for explaining the bug though.

I wanted to mention this since Jake said, "It's not worth running it on Machamp since he only has one move that can crit", but doesn't both Submission and Cross Chop up his crit rate? Or is his base crit chance and the crit he gets too low that it doesn't matter?
I never get a clear number on the stats but according to some builds that i tried on machamp, with submission on and then the next move is cross chop, max level lens, i can get almost always crit on it (deals around 1.3k-1.6k). But with max stack on cross chop basic passive i can easily get 2.1k dmg on cross chop. Without lens however the crit chance is greatly decreased for some reason and the dmg is also quite bad (900ish). So machamp really get a good dmg out from that, follow by the ticket for increasing crit dmg. It's fun if you know how to combo (Ult>submission>ult>cross chop)
I'm really glad I found out about the Scope Lens bug from this video. That being said, I'm beyond livid that my Charizard Scope Lens build would have been so much more effective on my road to masters if I just had it in the FIRST F**KING SLOT!! Seriously, thanks Jake. What you said about the 75% of attack was actually written right there in the word description. The 4% and 8% are just addtional stat like hp/attack from other items. So basically people now just figure out the hidden number from the word description is 75%, at lv20. Edit: explanation from a Math tutor. Hope it helps to understand more easily.

Great content. I was also surprised how much passive crit dmg/rate you get on that. I think the CDR on bell is similar worth upgrading for if you run it, but it doesn't scale as strongly (caps out at 4.5% I think).
@@BlastOffBobby The extra 200 HP you get from having a lvl 30 Buddy Barrier compared to a lvl 20 Buddy Barrier is most impactful early game because you proportionally have more % of your HP from your held items the lower your base health is. Most Pokemon start at about 3000 HP.
I do agree that scope lens have the best stat increases past 20 but it's not used as much as score shield or buddy barrier or even muscle band and these three are also very good to get at 25/30.. especially buddy barrier, 200 more HP is nothing to scoff at.. when you're a lucario trying to stack your attack weight early game, between level 2 and 5, it's equivalent to a 5% increases in bulk over a lvl 20 buddy barrier and a level 30 buddy barrier instead of a using a level 20 focus band (focus band 30 is terrible cuz flat defense is awful in this game for some reason) is so valuable early game that it nearly makes you as bulky as a focus band proc except you don't have to wait 90 seconds between each proc, since this is a bulk that is always on you and isn't conditionned on hitting a cooldown.. and if you're playing a scoring item trying to get an early lead, chances are you'll need that bulk several times in the first 2 minutes of the game.. So I disagree with scope lens being the highest priority to 30 and I also disagree with ppl saying you should run focus band on lucario because buddy barrier obviously works better with attack weight and score shield.
Machamp is my most used pokemon and imo scope lens is worth it Especially if I'm being carried by a helping hand blissey which is my favorite time to play machamp
@@Pslamist depends on some circumstances. Usually scope lens + muscle band and then the third item is what varies. Score shield if i think I'll need to be scoring a lot on my team, buddy barrier or focus band if I think I won't need score shield. Also dont take scope lens if you use close combat obviously, it works best with the standard submission cross chop moveset
I tested out the Shell Bell and this is the formula for the healing it provides at Level 20 HP recovery = 0.45 x Sp Atk stat + 75 Example : Say your base Sp Atk stat is 250 and you equip Lv 20 shell bell and wise glasses; these add a total of 45 to Sp Atk and then 7 % increase. So your effective Sp Atk is then (250+45)x1.07 = 316. Therefore when you land a move you get 0.45x316 + 75 = 217 HP recovered. On special attackers like pikachu, venusaur, gardevoir and ninetales this translates to 3.2% HP recovery at Lv 1 to 8.2% at Lv 15. Given that on an average, you can be recovering about 5% HP every 8 seconds throughout the game and also get 3% move cooldown reduction, does it make it viable ?
maybe with the mobile release, the devs of the game should make the game much more transparent so its not rocket science just to learn about the specifics of a held item.
As someone who has been really enjoying charizard and just got to masters thanks to mostly charizard (tho not the final match), good to know about the scope lens thing before pushing deeper into masters
I would say that Muscle Band is debatable with Scope Lens of being the best at lvl 30, cause both of them scale with %s, a lvl 30 muscle band gives you 15 Atk which is pitiful, but with the passive of 3% hp dmg it scales well, even with such a tiny amount, but the most important thing imo would be the Atk Spd boost you get, you get 7.5% Atk Spd at lvl 30. I think that the only stats we are missing on databases from Unite is Atk Spd, but Attackers and All Rounders attack very fast and with a lvl 30 Muscle Band the difference is noticeable, imagine dealing 3 more autoattacks with Cinderace, that would mean another rotation of its passive only cause you got muscle band at 30. Moreover, the best pay to win combo is Muscle Band and Scope lens at 30, that combo sounds disgusting in comparison to others, because those scale with % of stats and not with flat stats, which when you read an item you say, "Ah 10 Atk and 400hp from a lvl 20 Muscle Band and Buddy barrier" but Most Pokemons have over 5k HP in mid game and defenders get to 9k hp late. So when you get a % stat boost the BIG numbers become even bigger.
+2.5% extra Atk Spd and 5 more Atk is great , we dont know the exact number of Atk Spd of pokemons yet, but the passive + the flat dmg scales with Atk Spd cause you are just doing more Autos. The difference between with or without Muscle Band is very noticeable regarding the amount of Autos you can output.
I like how zards kit has no crit yet his passive is more crit. Such synergy lol. That being said- i will opt to try scope lens on him. I have grown comfortable with Focus Band, Buddy Barrier, Energy Amp.

If his attack is procing at 4x the speed of anything els than muscle band would be amazg just like scpe lens because it will proc the 3% of enemy hp more often on the basics. So, buddy barrier (low cooldown unite on charizard so no brainer imo), muscle band, scope lens.

Also scope lense, like other items, scales really well with levels. From my tests, I'd say that the crit rate iincrease increases to at least10/15% level 15 (pokemon lvl) with the item being only lvl 10. The crit dmg doesn't seem to scale. It's hard to be sure, but crits happen way more often with higher levels.
It's not just scope lens. This is a MOBA. The whole game depends on break points in the early game and snow balls off of that. If you're even slightly more powerful than your opponent you can stat check them and force them to back off or die, *especially* in the early game.
One thing I've never gotten an answer to is what the actual default crit chance is for basic attacks. Does it vary by pokemon/level? People say it starts at zero then increases as it levels up, but no one has provided some sort or source/evidence/numbers for this.

Its good on more than just tanks/supports. Lucario and Venusaur are two of the best pokemon in the game right now and they both tend to run it. Very good on them. It is also run on Ninetales sometimes as well as a few other options.
scope lens extra damage is stackable AFTER abilities AND AFTER moves damage and critical extra damage is calculcated. Therefore if you would critically hit for 2000 damage with scope lens you critically hit for 2000 + scope lens damage which would be aproximately at 2800k damage total. NOW THAT IS BROKEN! Top ten best Pokemon for Scope Lens: 1.Absol 2.Garchomp 3. Charizard 4.Greninja 5. Blastoise with rapid spin and water spout can crit with scope lens chopping the enemies.... 6. Blissey with Helping Hand+ is broken with a scope lens... 7. Cinderace 8. Talonflame 9. Snorlax Heavy Slam (wtf damage) 10. Alolan Ninetales Blizzard on multiple hits can crit and delete any enemy...
Huh… From my testing, Absol’s pursuit didn’t have the ability to crit. Maybe it’s just a very low chance comparatively to its other moves? Psycho Cut and Night Slash were the moves that hit the hardest and crit the most from my testing
It can crit, pursuit doesn't do as much damage as the other option, but it also gives more gap closing potential, because you don't have to land the initial dash, pursuit crits at level 5 with scope lense for somewhere between 1500 and 2000
Also: pursuit can be pre loaded to use on a gang ahead of time, by using the first dash 3 ish seconds before you'll arrive in lane, you trigger the pursuit attack, and your cooldown will be reset for a second one immediately, effectively making it do over 3000 damage at level 5 if both crit(seems to crit more often than not with scope lens)
As an Absol main. Yay? I mean it's nice I can make him stronger, but I literally don't have the time to grind out that much. That chart at 8:09 is really helpful Crustle is my favorite tank to play, so if I want to do more damage that's nice to know. Charizard and Garchomp I love playing a lot (though Lucario is still my favorite All-Rounder, but he is trickier to play and I don't have him unlocked yet). Just glad that my most played pokemon all benefit a bunch from scope lens.

No mention of Charizard's passive massively boosting his crit rate? More crit rate = more value out of Scope Lens. When he's below 50% hp, his crit rate goes through the roof. Add a focus band to increase the amount of time you're under 50%.

Not going to lie, i am a mobile "expert", by means of multiple games since pretty much the inception of the genre, but I have never been super great. Saying that, I really do not understand why there is so much hidden stuff in pokemon unite, do they not want us to play the game as close to what would be perfect?

I tried cinderace and I got 3k or 11k dmg sometimes with scope lens only 2-4 basic attacks

I got my scope lens from 20 to 30 recently and I feel the difference on Snorlax Flail so much, its insane.
Like to run it on Machamp. While his abilities can’t crit, he does have 2 moves that can increase crit chance.

Use chomp for testing. It’s defo there as I’ve tested it myself and noticed the odd move damage build up before I even knew what was going on.
i run scope lens on snorlax, and take flail. when ur low hp with flail you can crit massive damage

I never get a clear number on the stats but according to some builds that i tried on machamp, with submission on and then the next move is cross chop, max level lens, i can get almost always crit on it (deals around 1.3k-1.6k). But with max stack on cross chop basic passive i can easily get 2.1k dmg on cross chop. Without lens however the crit chance is greatly decreased for some reason and the dmg is also quite bad (900ish). So machamp really get a good dmg out from that, follow by the ticket for increasing crit dmg. It's fun if you know how to combo (Ult>submission>ult>cross chop)
I'm really glad I found out about the Scope Lens bug from this video. That being said, I'm beyond livid that my Charizard Scope Lens build would have been so much more effective on my road to masters if I just had it in the FIRST F**KING SLOT!!

What you said about the 75% of attack was actually written right there in the word description. The 4% and 8% are just addtional stat like hp/attack from other items.
So basically people now just figure out the hidden number from the word description is 75%, at lv20.

Great content. I was also surprised how much passive crit dmg/rate you get on that. I think the CDR on bell is similar worth upgrading for if you run it, but it doesn't scale as strongly (caps out at 4.5% I think).

Buddy Barrier is one of the best ones to level up to lvl 30 too because you get +20 HP per level, which is a lot better compared to most other items.
How do you level up to 30? I didn’t knew it was possible

@@BlastOffBobby The extra 200 HP you get from having a lvl 30 Buddy Barrier compared to a lvl 20 Buddy Barrier is most impactful early game because you proportionally have more % of your HP from your held items the lower your base health is. Most Pokemon start at about 3000 HP.
I do agree that scope lens have the best stat increases past 20 but it's not used as much as score shield or buddy barrier or even muscle band and these three are also very good to get at 25/30..
especially buddy barrier, 200 more HP is nothing to scoff at.. when you're a lucario trying to stack your attack weight early game, between level 2 and 5, it's equivalent to a 5% increases in bulk over a lvl 20 buddy barrier and a level 30 buddy barrier instead of a using a level 20 focus band (focus band 30 is terrible cuz flat defense is awful in this game for some reason) is so valuable early game that it nearly makes you as bulky as a focus band proc except you don't have to wait 90 seconds between each proc, since this is a bulk that is always on you and isn't conditionned on hitting a cooldown.. and if you're playing a scoring item trying to get an early lead, chances are you'll need that bulk several times in the first 2 minutes of the game..
So I disagree with scope lens being the highest priority to 30 and I also disagree with ppl saying you should run focus band on lucario because buddy barrier obviously works better with attack weight and score shield.
Machamp is my most used pokemon and imo scope lens is worth it

Usually scope lens + muscle band and then the third item is what varies. Score shield if i think I'll need to be scoring a lot on my team, buddy barrier or focus band if I think I won't need score shield.
Also dont take scope lens if you use close combat obviously, it works best with the standard submission cross chop moveset

I tested out the Shell Bell and this is the formula for the healing it provides at Level 20
HP recovery = 0.45 x Sp Atk stat + 75
Example : Say your base Sp Atk stat is 250 and you equip Lv 20 shell bell and wise glasses; these add a total of 45 to Sp Atk and then 7 % increase. So your effective Sp Atk is then (250+45)x1.07 = 316. Therefore when you land a move you get 0.45x316 + 75 = 217 HP recovered.
On special attackers like pikachu, venusaur, gardevoir and ninetales this translates to 3.2% HP recovery at Lv 1 to 8.2% at Lv 15.
Given that on an average, you can be recovering about 5% HP every 8 seconds throughout the game and also get 3% move cooldown reduction, does it make it viable ?

I say Muscle Band is second most P2W Item, as 2.5 % attack speed scale at all levels.
Muscle Band's attack speed is bugged so it doesn't work on mons who gain attack speed as they level
maybe with the mobile release, the devs of the game should make the game much more transparent so its not rocket science just to learn about the specifics of a held item.
As someone who has been really enjoying charizard and just got to masters thanks to mostly charizard (tho not the final match), good to know about the scope lens thing before pushing deeper into masters

I would say that Muscle Band is debatable with Scope Lens of being the best at lvl 30, cause both of them scale with %s, a lvl 30 muscle band gives you 15 Atk which is pitiful, but with the passive of 3% hp dmg it scales well, even with such a tiny amount, but the most important thing imo would be the Atk Spd boost you get, you get 7.5% Atk Spd at lvl 30. I think that the only stats we are missing on databases from Unite is Atk Spd, but Attackers and All Rounders attack very fast and with a lvl 30 Muscle Band the difference is noticeable, imagine dealing 3 more autoattacks with Cinderace, that would mean another rotation of its passive only cause you got muscle band at 30. Moreover, the best pay to win combo is Muscle Band and Scope lens at 30, that combo sounds disgusting in comparison to others, because those scale with % of stats and not with flat stats, which when you read an item you say, "Ah 10 Atk and 400hp from a lvl 20 Muscle Band and Buddy barrier" but Most Pokemons have over 5k HP in mid game and defenders get to 9k hp late. So when you get a % stat boost the BIG numbers become even bigger.
3% is obtained at Level 20. Going from 20-30 only upgrades the minor passive bonuses.
+2.5% extra Atk Spd and 5 more Atk is great , we dont know the exact number of Atk Spd of pokemons yet, but the passive + the flat dmg scales with Atk Spd cause you are just doing more Autos. The difference between with or without Muscle Band is very noticeable regarding the amount of Autos you can output.

If his attack is procing at 4x the speed of anything els than muscle band would be amazg just like scpe lens because it will proc the 3% of enemy hp more often on the basics. So, buddy barrier (low cooldown unite on charizard so no brainer imo), muscle band, scope lens.

Also scope lense, like other items, scales really well with levels. From my tests, I'd say that the crit rate iincrease increases to at least10/15% level 15 (pokemon lvl) with the item being only lvl 10. The crit dmg doesn't seem to scale.
It's hard to be sure, but crits happen way more often with higher levels.
This has nothing to do with scope lens and everything to do with the fact that Pokemon crit much more at higher levels.

What about the recent patch? Have you tested if it was changed? Sometimes devs fix bugs immediately after they learn someone found out about them.
It's not just scope lens. This is a MOBA. The whole game depends on break points in the early game and snow balls off of that. If you're even slightly more powerful than your opponent you can stat check them and force them to back off or die, *especially* in the early game.
One thing I've never gotten an answer to is what the actual default crit chance is for basic attacks. Does it vary by pokemon/level? People say it starts at zero then increases as it levels up, but no one has provided some sort or source/evidence/numbers for this.

So I started following you because of Pokemon unite, but I just realized the first videos of yours I watched were Mass Effect lol
I maxed upgraded Focus Band because I mainly use Blissey, Slowbro, and Snorlax. Idk if that was the right call tho.
Its good on more than just tanks/supports. Lucario and Venusaur are two of the best pokemon in the game right now and they both tend to run it. Very good on them. It is also run on Ninetales sometimes as well as a few other options.
scope lens extra damage is stackable AFTER abilities AND AFTER moves damage and critical extra damage is calculcated. Therefore if you would critically hit for 2000 damage with scope lens you critically hit for 2000 + scope lens damage which would be aproximately at 2800k damage total. NOW THAT IS BROKEN!
Top ten best Pokemon for Scope Lens:
1.Absol
2.Garchomp
3. Charizard
4.Greninja
5. Blastoise with rapid spin and water spout can crit with scope lens chopping the enemies....
6. Blissey with Helping Hand+ is broken with a scope lens...

Huh… From my testing, Absol’s pursuit didn’t have the ability to crit. Maybe it’s just a very low chance comparatively to its other moves? Psycho Cut and Night Slash were the moves that hit the hardest and crit the most from my testing
Or I could have been critting every time and not noticed a change in damage. Now that I think about it.
It could have a very low rate for sure.
It can crit, pursuit doesn't do as much damage as the other option, but it also gives more gap closing potential, because you don't have to land the initial dash, pursuit crits at level 5 with scope lense for somewhere between 1500 and 2000
Also: pursuit can be pre loaded to use on a gang ahead of time, by using the first dash 3 ish seconds before you'll arrive in lane, you trigger the pursuit attack, and your cooldown will be reset for a second one immediately, effectively making it do over 3000 damage at level 5 if both crit(seems to crit more often than not with scope lens)

If you’re interested, I did some testing on absols moves and determined that Night Slash and Psycho Cut do the most damage.
Granted. Psycho cut requires you to hit with at least 1 to 3 basic attacks immediately afterwards if you want to get insane damage output. But yeah.

No mention of Charizard's passive massively boosting his crit rate? More crit rate = more value out of Scope Lens. When he's below 50% hp, his crit rate goes through the roof. Add a focus band to increase the amount of time you're under 50%.
He is still limited by the 1s cooldown so it's not going to matter all that much.

It means that your cooldown will be 3% less on your moves.
