Hi Thomas, I was given a Pfaff 239. Have you ever heard of this model. I can't find a manual for it and I need help with using the cams. The Pfaff 230 is the closest machine 1 have found to the 239 because it has cams. Any information you could pass on to me would be hepful and appreciated !

Thanks for the tutorial.i have had this machine for over and year and have never used it. I'm trying to use it now and I cannot insert the needle. I've done everything possible. It seems like the needle bar or hole is too small for the needle to fit it. Please please help me out. I'm taking a sewing class and need to do my assignment. My other pfaff 280 machine thread is tangling so I can't use it either.
Hi Silver - The needle shaft area on this model and the 332 have a set pin that helps keep the needle orientated and secure, and can sometimes get displaced. Try taking a needle with the blade end first, and CAREFULLY insert it into the shaft area as far as it will go. This should help adjust the pin set to allow you to insert the butt of the needle. When attempting to insert the needle after this pin set technique, try rotating it in your fingers while applying upward pressure, and once the butt of the needle slides in, check for proper flat side orientation to ensure your stitch integrity is not impacted. hi, I've got this machine aswell. but i cant get it to work properly. on a single sheet of fabric it works okay but as soon as I dubble up on that same fabric the thread keeps breaking? I've tried to fiddle with the tension knob but that doesn't help
Hi Hieronymus,
Thread can break for several reasons. Check your bobbin carrier to see how much pull is required to draw the thread out when removed...should only require about 3 oz of pull, which is very little. Also, ensure when you raise and lower your presser foot lever that the tension disks are moving freely. Next, replace your needle with a larger one (size up) and double check your needle orientation. Lastly, ensure your spool of thread is not snagging, and that when your presser foot lever is in the UP POSITION, that the thread pulls through smoothly.
Beyond those basic tips, if you continue to experience trouble, visit your local sewing technician, as diagnosing an issue like this is much easier while on a work bench, rather than virtual.

Hi Thomas,
There really is not an ON/OFF switch on this model, only the button on the front to turn the sewing light on. If you have this machine, you have the proper cords, and you're plugged into a good outlet, your foot control may be faulty. If however, you're not even getting the light to come on, you may have more serious issues that will require a technician's attention.
