HOW MANY RED ARROWS? NOT 9 BUT 11 RED ARROWS HAWK T1 RUN IN & BREAK • RAF BRIZE NORTON

- When we heard the Red Arrows were due in to RAF Brize Norton, you'd be forgiven for thinking that there would be 9 Red Arrows, but you would be wrong in reality! We are aware that there are 10 Red Arrows but, on this spectacular day, there was a total of 11 Red Arrows. All 11 aircraft got into formation for a run in and break. The break alone is spectacular.

The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows, is one of the world's premier aerobatic display teams. The Red Arrows are currently the only unit in the Royal Air Force to fly the Hawk T1.
Flying distinctive Hawk fast-jets, the team is made up of pilots, engineers and essential support staff with frontline, operational experience. Together, they demonstrate the excellence and capabilities of the Royal Air Force and the Service’s skilled, talented people.
Often with their trademark Diamond Nine shape, and combination of close formations and precision flying, the Red Arrows have been displaying since 1965. All Red Arrows display pilots have flown operationally, in frontline aircraft such as the advanced Typhoon, and helped the Royal Air Force to secure the skies every day of the year.
Red Arrows pilots are selected from currently serving RAF pilots who have completed at least 1,500 hours of flying and one operational tour. The selection process involves flying assessments, interviews, and peer assessments, with only three pilots being chosen each year
The Red Arrows are famous for their vibrant vapour trails - often known as the smoke. They are a crucial element of the team's displays, primarily for flight safety. The vapour trails allow Red 1 to judge wind speed and direction, and allow the aircraft to locate each other in the second half of the show when different sections of the formation are frequently several miles apart. The vivid and colourful smoke trails also enhance the visual impact of the display when viewed from the ground. Well known manoeuvres such as the heart, rollbacks and carousel would just not be the same without it.
The Red Arrows have two dedicated dye teams who ensure the aircraft's under-fuselage pods - from which the coloured dye is contained - are replenished. These engineers travel all over the country, working within tight timescales to ensure that when Red 1 makes the call it is "Smoke on, Go!" There is smoke for about 7 minutes; 5 minutes white smoke, 1 minute blue and 1 minute red.

What a catch Niko, 11 Reds in one I’ve seen 10 in flight before but never 11, so it’s a rare 1,
Yeah man. It is a rare catch
I'm guessing the other 2 are for spares in case one of the original 9 goes U/S? Another great video though.
I think we totally forgot that there are actually 11 Reds but 9 in a display

I want a Ted 😁
A never-ending pleasure to see the Red Arrows. Been a long time since 9 have been flying together. They never seem to stop landing. The slo-mo is a nice touch. Very impressed and proud as they all taxi for take off, they seem to be multiplying Ted? Grest shot 5:31 as they all wind their way to runway. See Ya! So long Reds, see you very soon..as they take formation on the Runway, Then a Hawk cloud, power on, Gone Ace.. ❤ So very impressive ❤
Oiii oiiii Dan thanks man. This was unbelievable and good job they were the Red ones as Nikos would have missed them! Haha
@@TedConingsby What a great reply 👏 👍 👌
