  • The length of my contract is of no concern, my focus is to win games for the Eagles. Replicating the success of the 1994 team is all about commitment and understanding the task involved in playing for the Super Eagles. Players must realise that playing for Nigeria is bigger than playing for their clubs

Finidi is a true Nigerian. He is a good brother who invited me to his house in Duivindrect Amsterdam in 1994. Before he invited me he never knew me. He was only concerned about my being a Nigerian. I'm not surprised that he is Nigerias Technical adviser or head coach. If he did not close his door against me a man of God. God too would not close the door of success against him in this national assignment. By the Grace of God he would surely perform beyond expectations. A HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU FINIDI GEORGE, THE BEST NO 7 IN THE WORLD DURING YOUR PLAYING DAYS. You were celebrate d in Ajax Amsterdam you will still be celebrated at home, Nigeria. KUDOS TO YOU.

An exhaustive interview. One would expect no less from Arise TV. Thank you. I wish Finidi all the success he had as a player in his new role. With a monotone voice like his, I wonder what he'd be like in the dressing room trying to rouse the boys when a win is desperately required from a losing position during a highly pressured halftime talk? I can't imagine Pep or Ateta sounding like him.

Your effort and confidence plus God bring about great success, not that you will be ask tthat “ what shld we be expecting from you in the next match” and you will be saying, “God that have Seen you up to this stage will help you to win to the end” no single word of confident. What Nigeria needs is a foreign manager that had the experience and fully understands football and capable of managing and motivating the players, especially the foreign based players. Being a good player doesn't guarantee being a good coach. I hope appointing Finidi has not damaged the chances of Nigeria qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

  • @vitalinfo2053

Why do we keep on asking this dumb question of home based players? The national team should not be based on any form of quota. The best Nigerian players reside abroad. Why must we talk about home based players. The local clubs have not been doing well on the continent and the CHAN team has also not been doing well also. Why should they now be rewarded with Super Eagles call up. I don't understand why this question keep on coming up. It just does not make sense. The national team is not a place to discover or nurture talents, That is the role of clubs. National team invitation is based on who is currently performing best at that position at that particular moment.

They came onboard in 1989 after we failed to qualify for the 1990 World Cup in Italy, got us to AFCON final in 1990, AFCON semi final in 1992 and won AFCON in 1994. Such is the length of time needed by a coach to build and solidify his own team. I hope they give Finidi George a chance. I am sure the folks in Ajax Amsterdam must be so happy for him, because they love him like crazy.

Finidi, if you want to do well( qualify for world Cup), look for 4 midfielders from NPFL. Our players outside Nigeria get tired quickly because of African heat. Start looking for them now.
    2. You must reshuffle that attack to make it dreadful. Draft Osimhen to NR 7. Let Lookman and Boniface lead the attack. Be bold enough to drop our NR 7 ( Chukueze) and let Osimhen take it. Osimhen's speed is an asset. And drop Onuanchu and bring in the young Gift Urban.
Make our attack dreadful and productive. You can't win matches without scoring goals.

This is the end result of that. Anyway, bringing many TV presenters to ask different kind of very jamine and meaningful questions from different angles that are very more important to the subject of the matter will definitely help the coach to know exactly where or how to improve on his own personal tactics in order to excel. At least, he will know the gravity of the job he collected and also know what people are expecting from him. Simple.. !!! Haba..

He seems to be a pragmatic guy who is media shy and does not talk much. However, as a head coach, he will be facing the media more often, so he must quickly improve his communication skills. He appears too laid back. Nevertheless, his work on the pitch matters most; if the results are coming , no one will care about his communication skills.

Dr. Reuben Abati got me laughing when he said Nigeria in the 1990s under Clemens Westerhof played "kick and follow" football. 😂
I wish Finidi George well in his new role as Super Eagles manager. I would propose that he introduces the four ranking captain system that FC Barçelona have into the team to avoid issues when the main captain and the vice are not available.

Why is this Rufai guy always so arrogant and antagonistic about everything? Finidi himself doesn’t have problem with his contract and the target seating for him like other coaches before him, why does Rufai believe it is disrespectful for an Employer to set performance target for his contractor? Chelsea & Bayern coaches just got fired for not meeting the performance target.
I believe Finidi will succeed and exceed every target set for him. He understands Nigerian football.
