    Awesome game and I agree I would love to see more horror games about Ancient Egypt so much unused potential for horror games same with the Aztecs and Mayans.

      @chavamara 18 дней назад +10

      Agreed, but the problem with the Aztecs and Mayans is that everyone focuses too much on the human sacrifice part. If they could find a way to do a horror game that wasn't just about that, I'd be so in!

    That Queen jumpscare worked so well due to the game so obviously baiting you into thinking something will happen with her corpse, so once it doesn't, you are unprepared when the scare comes from a completely different direction. Brilliant bait-and-switch.

      @@Offensive_Username Not every game has to be open world you know. And most indie horror games are very linear because they're not trying to let you explore. They're trying to tell a dark and creepy story.

    What a beautiful, atmospheric game! I love the way the light glints off of anything metallic--like the gold overlay on the Canopic jars. The text is well-written. There are a few good jump scares, and even a puzzle. Imo, it's especially cool that the game is based on the concept of Amenti.
    I agree, ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, Persia--even mythological settings like Atlantis or Mt. Olympus--are woefully underused for horror games. Btw, your knowledge of Egyptian deities and symbology makes me happy, Chris. Of course, the curriculum in British schools is (or was) wonderfully well-rounded. Maybe one day humanity will find out, "who ordered the donuts?!" 🤣

      Anyone who orders donuts and leaves out Bismarks is a heathen!
      You know, come to think of it, I would actually love to see a horror game set on Mt. Olympus. That could be a lot of fun. You get to literally walk in the Palace of the Gods, but it's all faded and crumbling. Looking down on the world of mortals through the clouds. As for the plot, maybe one of the gods or goddesses went insane and destroyed the rest. Now he or she wanders through the ancient abode, a twisted, withered shadow of their former glory.

    That was a surprisingly cool game !! You're definitely right, ancient egypt as a theme isn't used enough in horror games. It's such a fascinating theme... I want to give props to the developer for a moment. I've been watching you play their games since the graveyard one, and while their storytelling needs some improvement, they CLEARLY have a knack for generating spooky atmospheres, and their dev skills have notably improved with each release. Plus, the ambition on display - featuring a game in an Egyptian ruin - tells me they've got some serious passion for the craft.
    A tip of the hat to the developer! We will be watching your career with great interest!

Fictitious characters and certain unrealistic elements aside, they did a good job creating something believable. Ancient Egypt definitely has a place in my heart and this game did not disappoint one bit! It makes me think of the movie and book Queen of the Damned by Ann Rice. It has many nods to ancient Egypt but includes vampires and it's an all time favorite movie of mine especially because Akasha the queen is played by Aaliyah (RIP 💕) and she was not only gorgeous like the queen in this game but so fierce and powerful. I know the movie didn't do the books justice but it's still visually stunning and freaking AALIYAH is in it as well as some amazing actors. I would love that storyline to be turned into an ancient Egyptian based game! I think it could be a fantastic horror game especially with vampires being involved. If you haven't seen the movie or read the books please do they're very good and apart of the same storyline of Interview With a Vampire 💕

    There’s a VR game called Forwarned which is actually pretty good and set in old Egyptian tombs. I think you can also play it in flatscreen mode.

    Ancient Egypt & CJ? Yes, plz. 🥤👁👄👁🍿
    I'm always kinda sad about ancient Egyptian games. It's usually just the ruins & I've always wanted to wander around it in its full splendor. Aside from the mortal peril I'd have been geeking out during that middle section 😍

    How convenient that there was a flashlight laying around. I mean who wants to break in and bring nothing with you?! In a lost place he even said there are no people entering xD

    CJ, you mentioned there not being many Egyptian horror games. But if you ever had the chance with some friends, Forewarned is a pretty decent one. It's sorta phasmophobia style with the ability to put evil spirits to rest. Been playing it a few years and it's a blast.
