Awesome game and I agree I would love to see more horror games about Ancient Egypt so much unused potential for horror games same with the Aztecs and Mayans.
Agreed, but the problem with the Aztecs and Mayans is that everyone focuses too much on the human sacrifice part. If they could find a way to do a horror game that wasn't just about that, I'd be so in!
That Queen jumpscare worked so well due to the game so obviously baiting you into thinking something will happen with her corpse, so once it doesn't, you are unprepared when the scare comes from a completely different direction. Brilliant bait-and-switch.
@@Offensive_Username Not every game has to be open world you know. And most indie horror games are very linear because they're not trying to let you explore. They're trying to tell a dark and creepy story.
56:35 That is irrefutably the best reaction I've ever seen from you with a jump scare. Made my night to see that! And yes, there SHOULD be more Egypt based horror games.
@tremapar same here! I've watched this game with only 1 other person so far and that jump scare spot got that guy to literally shriek and lose his headphones. I was tempted to fast forward to the end just to see it immediately.
-Going alone into an illegal, unfamiliar area w dangerous structural instability at night? ✅️ -Not bringing a light source, weapon or well-equipped camera? ✅️ -Not taking photos of the things that would actually blow peoples minds and gain you fame and accolades? ✅️ -Takes way too long to realize something is amiss and run for the exit? ✅️ Ahh yes, we have ourselves a horror protagonist🧐😂 *Great fun and beautiful graphics on this one! Your rxn to the queens jumpscare was hysterical! Thanks for another great game sir!
11:02 in ancient Egyptian art, size correlated with importance, and Pharaos were often depicted as physically much larger than their wives or children (let alone normal people)
That one jumpscare REALLY got me, like holy Heck - jumped about as high as you did! That was a pretty solid game, definitely interesting! Thanks for playing!!!!!!!
I don't know what I love better: Chris frantically taking pictures even when he's jumpscared, or the main character's off-the-chart standards for what he deems to be "good enough" for a photograph 😂
did not expect the "breaking and entering" part in the introduction, gave me a good laugh :D looking forward to watching this. always love your videos and your calm, collected, and fun way of playing games
Setting is so wondeful! This is so refreshing after seeing so many games, even a very good, located in the same asset buildings. Just polishing the details by the Devs looks really well and jumpscares are worth jumping. It was a long time I saw Chris in such a surprised state.
Damn! Right from the first shot of the opening I'm hooked. Absolutely gorgeous use of color and lighting. 8:44 Also that's a pretty good flashlight for the 1970s P.S. Please play Syberia: The World Before Until i leave for Scotland I'm just going to keep asking you.
I love everything about ancient Egypt. The people actually did the building and that is what fascinates me the most. But this was very cool and I enjoyed you playing it. You are just the best! 💜!
What a beautiful, atmospheric game! I love the way the light glints off of anything metallic--like the gold overlay on the Canopic jars. The text is well-written. There are a few good jump scares, and even a puzzle. Imo, it's especially cool that the game is based on the concept of Amenti. I agree, ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, Persia--even mythological settings like Atlantis or Mt. Olympus--are woefully underused for horror games. Btw, your knowledge of Egyptian deities and symbology makes me happy, Chris. Of course, the curriculum in British schools is (or was) wonderfully well-rounded. Maybe one day humanity will find out, "who ordered the donuts?!" 🤣
I remember in Elementary school our Art teacher taught us hieroglyphics. Besides that there wasn't much more Egyptian stuff minus what you learned in History classes here and there. Agree wish they taught more. Ancient Roman times is my fav but Ancient Egypt is a close 2nd.
I have had just about enough of the YT algorithm censoring my comments and forcing me to rewrite them. Anyone who orders donuts and leaves out Bismarks is a heathen! You know, come to think of it, I would actually love to see a horror game set on Mt. Olympus. That could be a lot of fun. You get to literally walk in the Palace of the Gods, but it's all faded and crumbling. Looking down on the world of mortals through the clouds. As for the plot, maybe one of the gods or goddesses went insane and destroyed the rest. Now he or she wanders through the ancient abode, a twisted, withered shadow of their former glory.
This was a gorgeous game! And the big jump scare toward the end that got Chris got me so hard as well. Scriptor, have you ever played The Talos Principle? It’s not horror but has some amazing visuals including a beautiful Egyptian night similar to what was shown in this game (sans the donut-loving aliens, naturally)
That was a surprisingly cool game !! You're definitely right, ancient egypt as a theme isn't used enough in horror games. It's such a fascinating theme... Kinda sad the game took the aliens route personally, but they did great with it and the jumpscares are solid. The style and sounds when you take pictures really feel like Fatal Frame games tho haha
This game has great atmosphere! It captures the claustrophobic feeling very well. I hope we get to see more often games with Ancient Egypt themes. Even better if we could also get one with a soundtrack by Nile!
I want to give props to the developer for a moment. I've been watching you play their games since the graveyard one, and while their storytelling needs some improvement, they CLEARLY have a knack for generating spooky atmospheres, and their dev skills have notably improved with each release. Plus, the ambition on display - featuring a game in an Egyptian ruin - tells me they've got some serious passion for the craft. A tip of the hat to the developer! We will be watching your career with great interest!
Oh, man! I should know better than to start one of Chris' walkthroughs during lunch. I can't take my eyes off the game. Wow! Wow! Wow! I'm about halfway through watching (self-discipline is finally taking over), and I nearly splurted my coffee on the screen. Great jumpscare! Be back later; I so hope this is part of a dev series.

I absolutely loved this. Some amazing scares, oooft the queen was so scary and so well done! Absolutely beautiful game, they really went all out to make it look legit. Stunning and scary, brilliant duo!
Excellent game, with some big-time jump-scares! And guess what--? It's beautiful! A bit dark in places, but plenty of pixels to show us the great environments in detail. That one jump-scare must rank among the all-time greatest! I was actually hit by the one right before, as well. Thanks, Chris!
I loved all the places this developer has taken us! They're so incredibly imaginative ... even about their interpretation of Brooklyn subway in Homeless xD I'm so excited to see where they take us next.
I like horror games where you are exploring and finding out what is going on through notes; this game is certainly different. I did feel that the jumpscares were not part of the story, no threat came from them, or from anything else, really. They were for jumpscare effect, which was good. I jumped. I enjoyed watching this. Thanks for posting, CJU.
As an avid fan of ancient Egypt, its myths, legends and gods, I always chuckle when games mention curses or aliens. I love that you know about the gods!
This game was stunning and I could have easily watched x3 more hours of it. Lovely. Honestly, it could stand alone without the alien tie-in. The Egyptology aspect was stimulating enough. Also I do hope the devs remember that Ancient Egpytians likely did not look like the male Wii Fit instructor. Bravo!
Loved this so much . The beauty of the dream realm ; wow , amazing ..and of course the jump scare which made me yell and upset the elderly Yorkie who lives with me ( cue the angry and yet adorable yapping , lol ) thanks Chris !!
