    Just to explain, this wasn't designed to be a documentary (so of course we didn't really relay the stress of inspections or the tiredness or whatever else we may have missed in a factually correct way), this was just a bunch of injured ACs who had been on the flight for nearly 6 months for some, simply recovering. For some of us who could actually get in and out of busses and kneel to do a basic drill with a rifle, we were cheering up the ones who couldn't because they felt really crap at the time.
    So no, we don't look hard, we don't look entirely professional, and we didn't actually try to, we were injured and tried something a bit different to cheer ourselves up.
    It. Is. A. Joke.
    Not at the expense of the RAF, but of ourselves, because literally a bit of humour was all we could have while we were hoping our injuries would heal and we might still actually get the live the dream.
    If you find this difficult to understand, just don't comment, you waste your own energy and time.

    I really hope these replies to the comments aren't coming from servicemen. Some people are not going to agree that you should be posting this kind of thing to the public - respect these views and deal with them professionally.

      To elaborate theses are views such as "Bunch of cocks...shame on you.". How can one deal with this comment professionally?

      Honestly, if you weren't prepared to deal with these kinds of comments, you should not have posted the video. It's the internet - and while these comments are being made by people who can happily remain anonymous, your replies could be seen as representing the RAF.

    I had to stop watching, though I appreciate the attempt at humour. I'm afraid it's just too much watching AC's having 'fun' when everyone is supposed to be looking depressed and doomed at the 'culture shock'. The footage takes me back, I joined when the carpets had been introduced and as much as there was no 'buffing' them you had to get every microscopic peice of 'fluff' from them or 'else'. What is throwing me off and what I dislike very much is that the appear to have done away with the beret badge 'disc' that easily identified the recruit as being 'fresh' or 'more seasoned'. The 'slide' being work keeps making me think of an LAC. I have to say I'm not thrilled with watching the 'Padre' do the air guitar on the parade ground - though when I went through the Padres were a significant element in maintaining moral.
    Looking back I really miss it, though in 1996 it was the hardest seven weeks or my life. Thanks for doing this if only for a bit of memory lane.

    • @BrumKid
      @BrumKid 6 лет назад

      Rob. It was even harder back in 1971 and we only had six weeks of it and god it was hard but at the end it was worth it.
