With over 73% of all new cars costing over R500K in South Africa it's a very exclusive club indeed, with most South Africans missing out. That's not ayoba. As for EV's, forget about it for at least 20 - 30 years in SA.

Sorry sir but did you watch the full interview where the gentleman mentioned the 42% tax on ICE vehicles? That’s our biggest problem right there

    ICE vs EV
Internal Combustion Engine vs Electric Vehicle.... only petrol heads will understand those terms...

1 of those 15 car manufacturers should be South African with South African IP and for all major component to manufactured in SA like the engine, body , chassis and some electrical components.
Even if it mean that it would be funded by a the government.
International companies wouldn’t set up should in SA,if we didn’t have the manufacturing capacity, large consumer market, skilled labour resources and the technological sophistication we have in the country. So, what is stopping us from starting our own South African automobile company that would entirely manufactured in SA.

EV as secondhand car ...like buying the mentioned secondhand electrical golf-cart.. first thing that will be required is to replace the battery pack ... costing nearly as much as the car ..

Makes no difference to have local car manufacturers as they any how price there cars at the same level as imported cars

Agreed , the advantage comes to the manufacturer only using 3rd world labour.
