This is really a genuine and intelligent and relatable video. I find a lot of style channels especially with younger women to be so boring - “here is the high street or lillysilk piece i am styling in the same boring way.” thank you!
Thank you for this video! It really helped me manage my thoughts of wanting everything in seen on social media - especially as someone who cannot afford new clothes every season. In our consumerist world of fast fashion, this video was very grounding.
This is amazing that you emphasized the importance of critical thinking even on personal style. With the prevalence of social media we lose the ability to dip into inside ourselves. We just want to see what everyone else is having and copy them. It’s not all Bad to copy but it hides the danger of constant consuming without thinking about what our personal style really is. Thank you for bringing this up and it’s worth being reminded repeatedly.
What a fantastic tip to crop the head from the inspiration image!! I never imagined, this would make such a difference. Will definitely keep this in mind when I am saving inspiration in the future.
I enjoyed this, Adeline. I'm new to fashion and style. I am starting to think that 60% of personal style is how you hold yourself. Do whatever makes you relaxed and confident, and you will draw people to you. There is so much variation in style advice, yet people still look great. I put it down to attitude!
Confidence is such a big component. You are absolutely right. I think it's all about being comfortable in whatever you're wearing. And I don't just mean comfortable as in wearing smooth fabrics on your skin. I mean mentally comfortable - and then your confidence will come out naturally!
Excellent points. I love the idea of cutting off the heads of fashion images.... it's my reptile brain, but I know somewhere in there it's thinking "if I have that outfit, I'll have that pretty face too" Ugh, so insane!
I so agree on your analysis of Bella Hadid's style. I see it in Yolanda and Gigi too. They seem to model their style to match the person they're dating. Both Bella and Yolanda are suddenly cowgirls because they're dating cowboys and I find it hard to believe not many people seem to clock that in the Hadid women
I heard someone recently say, “We don’t owe anyone a personal style” which is a provocative thought. We don’t owe anyone “looking like ourselves” except ourselves. That means we can wear anything, like Bella. I think she’s on to something here.
I couldn’t agree more!!!! I love collecting little things from places or events like art festivals so that there’s a story for each item. Thanks for sharing this vantage point. ❤
Such a good video Adeline. You have excellent analysis and explanations. Your b-roll is perfection. I’ve used a wishlist for two years, but I’m still an occasional impulse buyer. (I like to go into brick and mortar stores still! And thrift/consignment shopping also Can Be impulse shopping.) Thanks for the reminder to play around with my favorites- probably at the beginning of each new season.
Wow chopping off the head in the two images you showed really made a difference for me. initially i liked the right more but after the heads were cut off i realized the left suited my actual style more. the right model's short hair went the the outfit giving the whole thing a "trendy cool girl" image but in reality that outfit isnt me at all.
You know I felt like there was a bit of a disconnect between what you were saying and the fact that I saw you had the sambas but you called yourself out! I love when people can be self reflective and talk about it normally. Also, I clocked the With Nothing Underneath Shirt, I have admired several of their shirts, including that one. I am just waiting for the right time to invest, to be honest I wasn't sure if they were worth the $$$.
Haha I am not perfect! And I share my experiences in the hope that others don't make the same mistake or at least think twice before making a purchase. I have a few With Nothing Underneath shirts now. Yes they are pricey but I love them. They use a lot of great materials that I like such as organic cotton and Tencel, and I believe they are also certified B Corp. I had a couple Arket shirts which I have since sold as the quality just could not compare x
I really liked this video - so many good reminders and things to think about. I've been honing my style over the past few years and I'm not sure that the process of doing that ever really ends. I feel like I am a bit to "cookie cutter" right now and need to try some of your tips for mixing things. Love that one!
I love to shop my closet and playing around with new combinations, trying out items that I already have in my closet. I also like putting things in my cart and then waiting to see if I still want them after a few days.
This was an excellent video, thank you very much! Your thoughts are unique, well explained and helpful. My style is a different one, but I enjoy seeing you being you and your videos help me to develop further. 🎉
Very interesting. I like clothes that are androgynous leaning femme. I also go more femme but never thin high heels (have already sprained my ankle with chunky high heels 😅). Always high waist (cause petite). Love oversize clothes. Also love queer hair styles. Buy mostly second hand, sometimes unique vintage pieces. Oh and also buy according to being a soft summer now
As much as the idea behind personal style, I think many people don’t realize that being “anti trend” is the current trend. Most of the “trends” all the publications are promoting this season are timeless staples. As are popular during every recession, especially blazers or work wear used outside of the workplace. Even in this video, every aspect of the creators outfit is currently trending - relaxed blazer, merlot nails, chrome statement jewelry, animal print belt, 90s minimalism etc. It is just really hard to separate what style is truly for you, and what’s influenced by the world around you because fashion is inherently influenced by our culture, just like art and music.
I have another tips top of yours is whenever you try your clothes make sure you wearing your everyday makeup and hair style and don't ever try your clothes when you have your period 😅
Not really into Bella Hadid. I like Kaia Berger better even though I am more of Bella’s style in that I am a personal dresser and don’t stick to a style uniform.
I do wardrobe play time all the time. It's fun and it is also a creative moment for me to mix and match what I have and have forgotten. I do this instead of shopping online or in stores.
On of the most enjoyable viedos on this topic 🫶🏼 and I think it‘s so cool to paint your nails in burgundy, for example, as a little fally highlight, like you did, instead of buying every piece of clothing in this color just because all fashion creators show it on insta
Let me know in the comments if this was helpful for you! I was very excited to film this one ☺

I’m really glad you enjoyed it xx

Same! My husband and I joke: ‘If I buy that, will I look like her?’ 😂
I’m the same when I see long, slender legs 😭🤣
You have beauty and brains Adeline. Vert thoughtful, reflective content, loved it.
That's so kind of you to say, thank you x

There is no right answer, which makes this topic or personal style so fascinating x

The best way to make outfits unique to you!

I’m with you on preloved being a bit more impulse! Thank you for watching and mentioning the b-roll! I find that the trickiest to get right ♥️
Very helpful video. This is exactly how I approach fashion.
So glad to have found my people ♥️
Adeline, I love that beautiful blazer you're wearing! Where did you find it, please? Thank you for sharing style and wardrobe information.
This is an old one from W Concept - similar one here - go.shopmy.us/p-9344714
Girl same, I saw Sambas everywhere, bought them and then never wore them. I’m more a Stan smith girl. Lesson learned!
Hopefully we can learn for next time!!
My hairdresser told me to blot the faces on models when looking for hair styles. It really does make a difference.
Such a thoughtful, interesting, and inspiring video. Thanks Adeline! ❤
Thank you! 😘
thank you so much for such a great reminder!! cheers! :)
You are so welcome! thank you for watching xxx

Thank you! xx

I don’t think it ends either, it’s definitely a journey 🫶🏼
Love you fresh point of view!
Thanks Adeline for another great set of principles you are the most thought provoking style vlogger on you tube! ☺
Thank you so much for your support ♥️
I love to shop my closet and playing around with new combinations, trying out items that I already have in my closet. I also like putting things in my cart and then waiting to see if I still want them after a few days.
You have great shopping habits!!
This was an excellent video, thank you very much! Your thoughts are unique, well explained and helpful. My style is a different one, but I enjoy seeing you being you and your videos help me to develop further. 🎉
I really appreciate you watching even though we have different styles 😊😊
Great styling advice! Love all your outfits and your style!
Thank you ☺️
This was helpful!! Do you have any tips on how to better select select silhouettes that suit different body types?
Haha I love the scarf color but that’s because soft summer is cold and muted. Her on the other hand is a winter so she need some strong cool colors
Thank you so much for the tips and ideas , no more shopping meanwhile I will have "play time " 😅😊
You’re welcome! Have fun 😘

I am curious about the WNU shirt as I have seen mixed reviews. Do you find that it creases a lot and you have to steam/iron it constantly? Thank you 😊
Great video! ❤
Thank you! 😘♥️

Omg so true! Whenever I try on outfits for video planning, I have to put on a bit of make up or else nothing looks good! 😂
What size do you wear on your Gu pants???
Size small x
@AdelineLoke thanks ❤️
❤❤❤
GU is also pronounced gee-yu
it's a play on words, it sounds like the Japanese word for freedom 😊
Ahhh thank you for letting me know!
