Old Scraps and Hand Tools...This One Nearly Broke Me!

- I built a shoji style desk lamp from a 150 year old beam using only hand tools. No power tools were used for the build. I got the beams from a dear friend that got them out of his first home during a remodel. All of his children were born in the house. I originally built a lamp for him as he is interested in Japanese style woodworking and i knew the lamp would have a deeper meaning to him because of the material used for the build.
I unfortunately lost most of that footage when filming. So i decided to build a second lamp. Hope you enjoy the video as much as i enjoyed this build.

Old Scraps and Hand Tools... A New Light Shines!
A work of art!!
Thank you so very much! Appreciate ya!
People like you show again and again that you don't need big machines to make beautiful things.
You certainly do not! Appreciate the kind words.
😁👏👍
3:30 - I never knew I wanted to see a Skyrim Draugr do woodworking until today.
PS: This looks amazing, and I wish I had the skill to do it
Lol! Thanks so much. Appreciate ya!
I think you are more of an artist than a woodworker. Well done.
Thanks so much, Ron!
Wow that looks amazing, i would think your wife was thrilled with it, you are very skilled and im looking forward to more content
Thank you for the kind words!
Wow what a misleading title. No power tools ? Man you are a machine. And if that isn’t bad enough you proceed to complete the entire project “on” your table saw 😂. All kidding aside you do some amazing work. Very beautiful project. New sub here. Can’t wait to see what you do in the future
Yeah, i should probably build myself a proper work bench. lol. Thanks so much for the kind words Matthew!
A peaceful meditation...

Amazing. I can't imagine the patience you have to create something like this.
Thanks Jeff! A couple evenings of re-sawing by hand will make a guy question his sanity. lol I really do enjoy it though.
Awesome work ! 👍
Thank you! Appreciate that.
Fantastic work mate. I've gotten used to seeing people making similar lamps but they always seem to have the latest top of the lines tools to do the job. It was very refreshing to see someone make something so nice without all those things. Great work.
Thanks so much! I hope people see that you can still make cool stuff without spending the entire bank on tools! Does it take longer? Is it more challenging? Sure does and sure is, but the satisfaction at the end really is worth the trouble. Appreciate ya!
