When the Lele Pons palette came out I got an email announcing it from Tarte. I replied to the email thinking it was a no-reply email saying “Why would you do this.” And then customer service actually contacted me asking for more information about my complaint. It was so embarrassing I felt so bad for the poor person who had to reply to my trolling.

Hahaha that is what I thought when I got the email! I had never heard of the influencer and when I looked her up she's in the top 10 earners on RUclips!! I still didn't understand the collab though, I don't know what has happened with Tarte lately. I tried their pink lip tint in a tube, I got a sample, and it's basically vaseline, everything recently has been so uninspired.

Stained glass is usually an image that does, yes, involve a colour story

Kathleen Elizabeth most stained glass windows in my country don’t create and image but are simply colored squares. But yeah they usually stick with a few different bright colors which repeats.

I wish clionadh would do that! They already have a stained glass collection. a multichrome stained glass palette.... I would go without food for a week just to buy it.
I bet people would worry about "oh, they're copying" but I totally agree -- plus, a rose window design would look amazing and be different from the arched window...
You wouldn't be able to use the same colour twice, which really puts a wrench in the creation of a real image. I agree that they could have at least tried, though!

If, say, your image is a rose, the pans could be different shades of pink/red/mauve etc and do matte/glitter etc versions And you could incorperate more than just shadows if there are too many of too similar colors. You just have to choose an appropriate, flexible image.

LOL! I'm 38 and male presenting with no interest in makeup either and I watch a bunch of makeup channels too! You're not alone. One reason is I'm fascinated by what makeup can do. If you're really good at it I find it practically akin to magic.

Side note (I know it would be bulky) but I would 100% die for a “treasure chest” pallet that like had compartments in the pans. Like a lid that looks like Diamond opens up to a row of ruby and pinks and glitter and then another lid that’s a little more rustic and dirty looking to open up to brown and silvers and neutrals. Then a lid that looks like a gold bar to a beautiful highlight.. 🤷🏼♀️ that’s my idea of a treasure themed pallet
Victoria Delo I have a couple of Tarte box sets like that. Little compartments for lipsticks and liners/mascaras. One even had a compartment for a little travel compact to put each quad in (theres 4 quads in the box). Absolutely LOVE them.
The Kathleen Lights Colourpop zodiac palette had all those gemstone jewel tone shades that should have been in the treasure chest DOSE palette

The Lorac pirates of the Caribbean palette did have a treasure slot where the separate blush/highlight palette would go and TBH it was the smartest packaging decision ever

The dose of colors hidden treasures palette layout gives me so much anxiety I had to literally put my hand over the side of the screen while you talked about it.
Can brands stop trying to be so unique and different with packaging??? Like idgaf if your eyeshadow palette is an octagon, if it has pretty marbled color with a cool theme then I’ll buy it I’m very easy to please 😌.
We want quality amd easy to use so they really need to focus on that instead of stupid butt packaging 😒
Zaynab Guezzar Yes I hate palettes that are in weird shapes because it’s so difficult to store! Idk if brands just don’t get this or not but you can have amazing packaging and still make it your regular square or rectangle packaging (with a few exceptions!), for example the new beauty bay and Nikki tutorials palette, super cool packaging with one side being bright and colourful and the other being dark and edgy and it’s not bulky and super easy to store.
As a woman who doesn't care about or even wear makeup, I find myself really engaged by this channel. Her personality just seems very inviting and the content is interesting.
Same, I watch her because she is interesting and entertaining. I love the way she speaks and explains herself, and how she opens up discussions about different things.

He literally copied Colourpop's Bare Necessities nude pallete, which is 34 bucks while his is 62 bucks. If you guys want a giant nude pallete go buy it from Colourpop. Their stuff is better and cheaper than his stuff anyway.

I hated the hidden treasures palette too! It looked like someone stood on a chair and dropped all the colors onto the palette below.and when they landed all crazy, they just said "eh...that's good enough. Let's get it to packaging!"

omg @ that KVD commenter from way back when. Stained glass is visually pleasing! That's the whole point of it! Churches originally used it to tell Bible stories to people who couldn't READ, they needed it to be pretty!
The Saint and Sinner palette could literally be beautiful if they'd make an effort to make it make sense. Like? Organise the shades into maybe some kind of artwork? Make a picture with the shades... If that was supposed to resemble stained glass thing? Stained glass windows like in the cathedrals are literally pieces of art. I feel like the shades were picked at random.
Yeah, I seen cheap palettes that attempted to create pictures (I bought a peacock one and seen butterfly palettes). It's not that hard to create simple rosette with your colors.

I have (and like) the Heavy Metals palette. The formula is awesome but I LOATHE the packaging. If I was brave enough, I'd depot the thing and put it in a magnetic palette. My other gripe with Urban Decay (in general) is that all of their palettes are unnecessarily thick.
I own Heavy Metals, and I tried to depot it. No go! I personally really like the packaging, I’m a sucker for a gimmick and while I do agree that it’s annoying having to slide out the palette for every use, I adore the exterior packaging!!!
The thickness of their palettes is pretty unnecessary. I only have Naked Cherry and it takes up so much space from being so thick in my "good palette box"
I love the colors too, but also hate the big honkin' packaging. I also hate it bc it accidently slid out and thankfully only 1 shadow was pulverized all over the floor😟
I successfully depotted it, but it was very difficult
I recently deported mine and added a few mattes so it's finally a full palette I can use when traveling (whenever that will be).

The Alice Through the Looking Glass pallete was pure ass. The quality was so terrible, not a single shade had any pay off. The only thing great about was its resale value.
Urban Decay mystifies me. I started buying their shadows in the 90’s when they first started. Everything was great through about Naked #3, and then the formula turned to pure ass, like you said. After 25 years of being good! I don’t get it.

The Too Faced chocolate palettes were definitely my "buy the hype" palettes when I first started doing makeup. My breaking point with them tho was the fact that the "Chocolate Gold" palette's packaging was SO cheap and flimsy. It made me step back and think about them, only to realize that out of the 5(?) Chocolate bar palettes, I only used one of them even semi-regularly.

The Mark Jacob's wild one's packaging reminds me of the big makeup set I would get on sale from sears after Christmas.
I remember when Sears had their own makeup line, like 20 years ago! A makeup kiosk within Sears was quite the choice. I don’t even remember the name of the line, but they had a lipstick in the shade Tea Rose that was so nice. It was just odd to be buying lipstick and a washing machine in the same store, lol.

The Urban Decay Heavy Metals palette was basically a coke mirror. There, I said it.
I feel like “The Balm Cosmetics” always had the weirdest and most unattractive packaging for eyeshadow palettes- like the Nude Palettes where the shadow would be placed over the body as a censoring bar was so tacky to me

I feel like the too faced chocolate chip palettes were the moment their eyeshadow formula turned to garbage. I had the original chocolate chip palette and I tried super hard to use it once and never touched it again for years until I decluttered it a couple months ago

but I also realllllly hate 99.9% of any product Too Faced has made
so i had the alice in wonderland palette and i actually really enjoyed the eyeshaows BUT i never touched it because of how bulky it was. i was never compelled to grab it since it felt too “out of the way” to use. i ended up giving to my cousin who is obsessed with all things alice
I also wanted the vida loca pallete so I decided to get the Saint and sinner pallete and I 100% agree with what you said about the color theory I looked up videos on how to re-arrange the colors to be more pleasing to the eye 😂

I feel like Jeffree Star's Blood Lust pallet is on my list of ugliest pallets for sure. I really wanted to like it but it was NOT cute.

I rarely see anyone talk about the Sephora and Minnie Mouse makeup collection. Not even at the time it was out. The palette came in a purse 👛 (kind of looks like the emoji of a purse) you could remove the palette and use the purse for a night out, which was cute. But it’s so bulky to store. 🤷🏼♀️
I have that one!! Storing it is... an adventure. Never reach for it because it is stored away from my other stuff.
Ugh as an artist I was so annoyed with that KVD pallet and the excuse of it’s shitty layout being inspired by stain glass and her being an artist. Those are both reasons for the layout to make sense and be well designed. Uuuuggghhh it still pisses me off. I remember ranting about the concept of it as well, it was so judgmental with the natural colors on the saint side and the brights on the sinner side.
I think of they at least mirrored a pattern or something, it would make better sense.

I actually think I would prefer the smaller eyeshadows for palettes from the white chocolate chip palette, because the reality is, we don't hit pan on eyeshadows very often. id prefer smaller palettes that can actually be finished. Less waste, less space.

Oof, I can’t believe that the JS Alien palette wasn’t part of this 😂 that was the first one I thought of.
The palette that annoys me everytime I see it is the BH cosmetics Sante Fe palette with the weird arrow design. Now I have the zodiac palette and love it, I like BH cosmetics products but the layout of this palette is so annoying to my eye. The long thin strips of eyeshadow look a nuisance to deal with and it just isn't pleasing to my eye!
Urban Decay backtalk was one of those palettes that I said “I want that. And I will buy it.....as soon as it goes on sale at TJ Maxx 😂😂” like there’s so much high end makeup that I’m like OOHH but then in the end, it’s not what I would spend THAT MUCH hard earned money on. But to get it for a deal, I’m all in. The Too Faced Peach collection is a prime example of this. I still LOVE that eyeshadow palette to this day, and I bought it full priced. And the foundation and bronzer and blushes are great. But do you know what was even better? Getting them for $15 instead of $40.

It’s on my vanity right now, I wore it to work all this week 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. I enjoy mine too much to be bothered by other people’s thoughts on the layout. I even admit the layout is unnecessary. But I love this palette so much ❤️😍❤️
It's one of the few palettes I will never get rid of, I love it so much. Plus, even though the book of shadows packaging was bulky, at least the shadow tray was detachable for this one.
The Alice through the looking glass palette was my first high end palette ever & I LOVED the metamorphosis shade, it made everything so beautiful 😍 i regret decluttering it so bad bc it was my first & i loved the butterfly packaging BUT I agree completely ab the stupid small mirror & the drawer style packaging, wouldve much rather the top of the palette just have the 3D butterfly & then open like a normal palette so it could be thinner & easier to store & stuff. I just have the nostalgia bug bc it was so special to me at the time 😅 great video! I love your makeup rants please do more lol

@@smokey_glow that zebra clam is beautiful, okay so I do like animal print and as a 90s teen I rocked the tiniest zebra print minidress! I know a lot of people hated the zebra print though! The first clam, the gold one, was according to RUclips reviews I saw bad quality but the zebra clam holiday release had their regular formula, so they clearly listened. I bought that palette after Tati tried it and recommended it, and confirmed it was their regular formula - if you remember she collected their palettes. I bought Glambition at the same time and that brand has one of my favourite eyeshadow formulas, it is so smooth with hardly any fall out. The photo of the palette doesn't do it justice I have to say. I often find that palettes look totally different online to what I get in real life. The Norvina 4 being a case in point it looks so washed out in pictures and is so vibrant and beautiful in real life. You tend to see the true colours when the pictures are from the side for some reason. Urban Decay packaging can be great or it's the absolute worst, they never have a middle ground.
