- Girlschool performs two songs as the musical guest on a late night standup comedy TV show taped in 1982, during this program's first year on the air.
BetaGems are culled from an archive of over 1000 beta video tapes recorded between from 1983 into the 1990s. Most feature live music performances broadcast on television in San Diego CA, though there are also rarely seen commercials, comedy clips, and other material that doesn't seem to be anywhere else on RUclips or online. Most of the tapes were recorded on a Sony SL-HFT7 Super Beta Theater Hi-Fi Stereo - the same model was refurbished and is being used for these digital transfers and uploads.
In rare occasions where a BetaGems clip does appear elsewhere, we're only uploading if our own beta master is better quality or contains material not seen previously. Much footage comes from public television and public access broadcasts that the taper, who worked for a local cable TV production company in the 1980s, monitored nightly for several years. Some of the programming is strictly regional, mostly from the San Diego area.
Kelly Johnson. Superb lead guitarist. Highly underrated player.
According to Wikipedia they are the longest-running all-female rock band, still active after more than 40 years. Badass!
I love all the girls... It was the fucking coolest girl group in the 80s...Bravo!!!!!
For the record, they are knocking out "Hit and Run" and "Screaming Blue Murder." Killer find!
Wild wild girls.
Now women.
What a band. I'm a huge fan since early 80's.
Must have seen em 7 or 8 times in the early 80s, always quality
Saw them in Newcastle a few months after this was recorded, at the Bearpit. Met them outside after the gig and Kelly gave me her guitar pick, which of course I still have.
"Screaming Blue Murder" is my favorite song by them!!
I like Wildlife from that album
Love the bassist's nod to Lemmy with her mike way up in the air
Hit and Run and Screaming Blue Murder their best two albums easily. This was my fav lineup of the band, Gil Weston on bass added some bad ass street vibe. Never seen this footage before, rare!
Saw them on the Screaming Blue Murder tour Brighton Dome awesome live band!
Been a fan since 1981. This is my favorite line up ..although all the other guitarist and Enid, hurt nothing when they were or are still in the line up
I am so excited to find this
Saw them at Newcastle Trillians recently. Still going great. Thanks for posting.
Brilliant find.

Thanks so much for sharing! A gem
Kim ❤❤❤❤
Kim wearing a Maiden shirt... nice
Like Iron Maiden on Top of The Pops, they had to turn the volume down. But you can see the musicianship is there, they were as good live as they were in the studio.
Iron Maiden had to turn the lip-syncing down?
@@SiberianHusky666 It said in the band's biography/history book (published around 1987) that the BBC wouldn't let them play at full volume, after agreeing to playing live.
They didn't need to play loud. The fact that they sounded exactly the same on stage and on record would impress listeners. Look for the video and hear it for yourself. They may be quiet, but it's genuine.
Their obviously not lipsyncing here 🙄!
@@aaroncourchene4384 Uh, this isn't Iron Maiden and this isn't "Top of the Pops."
@@SiberianHusky666 ugh obviously 🙉🙉🙉!!
Anyone know where this was filmed?
The Los Angeles Comedy Store
