Total utter perfection. Best masterpiece they ever done. All their music are masterpieces. This needs to be put into a spacecraft and sent straight out to the cosmos.
Absolutely. IMO the Forth sessions resulted in some of their best ever output, including this, Mama Soul, Judas, Chic Dub / Muhammad Ali, All Night Long, and Columbo. Note how few of those tracks actually made it to the album. Really hope the rest of the unreleased stuff sees the light of day eventually!
When you hear all the B-side gems from the "Forth" era, it's almost like they were leaving out all these amazing songs for the true Verve fans. I mean, I feel like they could have been just committing to producing Forth to fulfill their contract and purposefully eliminating any songs that could have propelled them just so they wouldn't ever sell out to the mainstream circus. Just listen to "All ways are Maybes", "Sweet and Sour" "All Night Long" "Tina Turner" and even the "Thaw Session". I honestly don't even listen to the Forth album, but continue to come back to these amazing songs which never made it on the album. And, as I true hard core verve fan, I am glad they never did. Thanks mates. You made music to take me through life and bring me memories that I will always cherish.
I 've been a massive fan since the late '90s and thought I had heard all the best Verve moments, then last night I heard the original "Brake Lights", and now this track, and realised that there is even more than I thought. It boggles my mind that tracks of this calibre were not featured more prominently in their catelogue- I can't even find them on Spotify ffs! But at least I am hearing them now. Thanks for those tracks you mentioned, going to chase them up!
You go back and just listen to the b-sides alone just an unbelievable band a sum of all their parts and probably the most underrated UK band of all time … I’m 43 now and still listen to storm in heaven everyday since I was 13 when it was released on my birthday 21st of June 93 longest day of the year greatest band of my lifetime thank you so much guys
Gorgeous song. Absolutely should have been on the album! I love the Forth B-sides so much more than the album itself unfortunately. Also, does this song remind anyone else of the beginning of Cocteau Twins' "Cherry Coloured Funk"?
This is so much better than literally any song on Forth it's not even funny. Why couldn't the reunion album have sounded like THIS instead of all that bloated, boring crap? Mind-blowing.
@@psflipperWym the “later” albums urban Hymns is a masterpiece and forth is more of there old stuff than that so idk what your wanting forth isn’t even a bad album
This song is like a mantra, the Verves version of Om mani padme um. It evokes blue imagery. Its deeply enchanting. I have played it endlessly since discovering it mere weeks ago. Only superlatives do it justice.
Beautiful song, how or why they left this, Ma Ma Soul and Muhammad Ali off of Fourth and put Ashcroft penned watery ballads such as I See Houses etc on instead, I'll never know, probably record label politics being responsible. Thanks for putting up such a great version of this song
Rustin Cohle Yep. Unfortunately the reunion wasn't a democratic situation at all. +David Brown, fully agree, this and Ma Ma Soul are some of my favorite Verve tracks of all time, and I'm heavily biased towards their early stuff. @@t3br00k35 No, it's because one member pulled rank and dictated the track list. Also I'm not hearing what your hearing with the Talk Talk comparison. Big fan of theirs, listen to their last 3 albums a lot. I don't hear the similarity here.
Perverse that this is an out-take from an album that I probably listened to once and discarded. This is infinitely better than anything on the record. Weird. What were they up to?

Yeah I think this is an awesome track. Don’t get me wrong. But the riff is probably subconsciously from the talk talk riff. I mean they have another unreleased track called Tina Turner which is similar to a Tina turner song. Thunder dome I think. They clearly didnt release it for a reason.

Been sitting here trying to explain it. Couldn’t have put it better myself.
A fully mastered, high bitrate release of just this track is all I want now from Verve.
"It's oh so easy"
And they sure make it sound so.
It sounds so much like one of their earlier tracks - got strong "Storm in Heaven" vibes from this. Love it - so ethereal.
This is from the *Forth* sessions?! Good lord. This sounds like it could fit right in with their 1993 stuff perfectly. Beautiful honestly.
