"Weeping Willow" - song by THE VERVE (Virgin Records) ----
    When morning breaks
We hide our eyes and our love's aching
    Nothing's strange
It was in our hands from 6 to 10
    It slipped right out again
    There'll be no better time
    There'll be no better way
There'll be no better day to save me
    Save me
    Yeah, save me
I hope you see like I see
I hope you see what I see
I hope you feel like I feel
    And the world don't stop
There is no time for cracking up
    Believe me friend
    Cause when freedom comes
    I'll be long gone
You know it has to end
    There'll be no better time
    There'll be no better way
There'll be no better day to save me
    Save me
    Yeah, save me
    Yeah, save me
I hope you see what I see
I hope you feel like I feel
    Someone to stand beside me
    Beside me
    Beside me
    Beside me
    Beside me
    Weeping willow
    The pills under my pillow
    Weeping willow
    Pills under my pillow
    Weeping willow
    The Gun under your pillow
    Weeping willow
    Beside me
    Beside me
    Beside me
    Beside me

I honestly feel so sorry for anyone who is too young to have experienced the 90's. There will never be a time as artistically rich and intense, with true and important artists, and music like this. I thank God that my teen years were squarely within the 90's.

I agree...even missing 80's like queen etc is such a shame as you will never find ACTUALLY GOOD SINGERS like from in the 80's-90s ever again it's sad really

Myriam H To be honest, I love his ego :) He was not shy to loop his own voice on Love is Noise. He repeatedly used his songs to tell us what was he through. Shame I never saw him live. I might fulfill that dream hopefully :)
I think I heard more than enough of Bittersweet Symphony, which is a shame, because it's a damn good song.

jan pasek I hadn't heard them in decades, so few weeks ago, hearing Lucky Man really made my heart smile. Then a friend and I were talking about weeping willow trees and this one came up. Then it happened again, so I found and played the song. Now, all day until now I'e been tortured with Weeping Willow as the eternally ethereal, comforting, and hypnotic ear worm.

Richard is one of the greatest ever Brit songwriters. No doubt.

  • @musicsaves97
    @musicsaves97 9 лет назад +104

The genius of this song/record is the sequence of this song followed by 'Lucky Man' on the LP. The fact that Richard and the band can so poignantly express both extremes in life is proof of their collective genius. The Verve will always be criminally underrated, especially here in the US. It's a shame that they had to break up three times because musical chemistry is a blessing from the universe.

    • @fju2112
      @fju2112 8 лет назад +6

+musicsaves97 it really is and i wish they'd all realize this. i heard ashcroft's new track. it's pretty good but tell me that song wouldn't be better with his three bandmates backing him? Urban Hymns would have been a disaster compared to what it turned out to be, if it had gone on as planned (an Ashcroft solo album). Forth was a decent return to form...too bad it's unlikely we'll see a Fifth.

Listening to it again after reading your comment....I would never have thought of this song, but you are so right - the lyrics are so today.
I hope you're all safe and well.

This band……..you just wish they could’ve all gotten along and stayed together. Biggest what could’ve been band in music history IMHO.

Yes this a classic album - 20 years old nearly but it will go down as a classic album/ band - like The Who, like the first Oasis album , I was in my 20's through Brit Pop , it is my 60's .. Dublin Castle, Blur , playing loads of gigs , great times

Robert Mcafee Glastonbury 1995 oasis and all the other great bands that no so called artist can come near say in legendary music status will ever come close to producing classics like we had in our heyday

Listen how long Richard holds the notes for. Genuine unstylized vocal truth power.
Resonance especially at the end refrain
    Majestic art.
