If you're wondering why chat is blurred its because one new chatter kept spamming a penis through the clever combination of 3 equals signs, a D, and a 💦 emoji. Funniest shit I've ever seen
There is one channel covering old MTV movie awards and vh1 music video awards from the early 2000s, those were pretty wild times in the media too. 😂 but hands down, MTV had the weird but funny reality shows all around!
As someone who watched this show in HS, the confusion about the show in the first few minutes is what everyone felt, because it was designed to make you feel that way. "You're okay with your daughter being thrown down and kissed in front of you??" Yes, that's the vibes of shock the producers were going for. And also... I don't know anyone who thought the show was real. It's very obviously for entertainent purposes only. It's not like people in the late 2000s were dumb- just amused by shocking antics.
I was a dumb kid back then and I believed it. Not proud of it. I am still very dumb and very neurodivergent but getting better at learning what good socials skills are because I lack so much of it still as an adult thanks to bullying and lacking the brain to pick up on sarcasm and bullying. I didn’t know it was scripted back then. However, I now know most reality shows today, even cooking and baking contest shows as well, are all mostly scripted sadly.
I know it's difficult to believe, because we're in an age where literally anything on the internet that can be staged/fake is...but this show, and most EARLY MTV shows were real. I knew a guy in high school who's older sister was on this show, and maybe they threw in some lines to bring out characters but they were not actors. The girl I knew actually ended up dumping her BF for the dude she picked on this show. They are married and have 3 kids.
You guys think clout chasing is insane now...this is 2000s clout chasing and it was LOONEY TOONS. To get "insta famous" then you'd have to go on whatever ridiculous reality show you got chosen for.
Yeah my ex boyfriend from high school was on a different early MTV show “Made” and they filmed a lot of it at our high school and I can safely say most of it was pretty legit. My ex did make up a fake reason for wanting to be on the show (he said he wanted to be a soccer player when he very much did not) because he actually just wanted screen time because he wanted to pursue acting in the future but the producers didn’t stage that themselves or anything. Apart from the soccer stuff that he lied about, how they portrayed my ex and his friends and family was actually pretty authentic lol
When the dad said "I like it, it's hot!" To her daughter hooking up with the new guy I believe we all had the same exact look on our face before going "wtf"? Precious moment.
i always thought the one that the girl picked at the end was the real boyfriend the entire time and everything else was scripted because a lot of the time the couples are so awkward and clearly havent known each other for more than a couple days lol
It's not necessarily fake, but it's not the truth either. They ask them to exaggerate things and then throw in some actors for the interviews to make them worse
Yeah I remember one episode the douchey bf is giving the usual profanity laced commentary on one of the dates and the parents are smugly asking him "oh do you have a problem with this?" Dude gives a pretty good counter that spotlights just how messed up the premise is that surprised it got past MTV's editing room "Yeah this douchebag's trying to steal my gf"
as a small actress myself, yes ALL reality shows are casted, auditioned for, written up, falsified and scripted. even the ones today, there's cuts, scripts, re-do's.. the whole works.
Several of the potential new boyfriends look like alternate universe versions of actors that you probably don't know the name of but would recognize if you saw a picture of them.
Dude honestly this is probably an amazing idea, like not necessarily for the parents but for any couple people just know are bad together, could you imagine the amount of toxicity this could actually help if only it was real
I actually remember watching this on MTV. They used to play it as often as they play ridiculousness now. And they wonder why us millennials have a few issues lol😮
And the premise really is something else isn't it? What teenager wouldn't willingly sign up for a show in which their parents meddle in their love lives to a level that just screams "I don't respect your ability to make choices" and set them up on blind dates while they're actively in a relationship?
I’m choosing to make a headcanon where the original boyfriend can only play three songs on the guitar and they’re Push from Matchbox 20, Wonderwall by Oasis, and Creep by Radiohead
This would've been a billion times funnier if, after that mom hit the guy the last time, he just turned and belted her in the fuckin face and screamed "NO MEANS NO!"
I thought I watched this show through high school but this actually premiered 2 years after I graduated (premiered in 2006 for anyone too lazy to Google it lol) it makes me sad that I used to love watching this when I was 20, looking back and seeing how absolutely cheesy it was 😭😂
Was just rewatching the jack manly episode and just got notified you uploaded again Found you and andy in the same week, im not a lucky guy that week about 3 monts ago was pretty good By the way; the boyfriend in that episode looks like a wallmart drake bell without the se*ual ass*lt charges
When y’all said their fashion looked weird that made me feel old. Lol I was still pretty young when this show was on, but kids my age were dressing the same way lol
As a young gay man I was obsessed with these MTV dating shows because they were the most gay friendly shows on TV at the time. 1/4 of the episodes were either a gay or lesbian contestant
Yeah it's weird how for most things once you get older you find yourself finally relating to the adults in movies and TV but with this show I end up sympathizing with the douchey teenagers because the parents suck.
I dont know how i stumbled upon this channel. But ive been watching this all day hungover as fuck, laughing my butt off... omg hahahahahahahaha this is the best shit ever
I remember coming home from school in middle school and high school and for the first hour or two I was home alone until my parents came home, this is ALL that was on. This and NeXt. I would sit and fold laundry or do whatever other chores I had and just cringe at this BS it was bad back then too, but I don't remember it being this bad. But they always followed this block with Viva La Bam, which was also awful.
Nahh this show was peak after school entertainment… just getting back from school, making yourself a snack and then watching these MTV shows that were just as amazing as they were terrible. Lol
I was hoping at least a tiny bit of this was real and the (now ex bf) got into it with snowball dude. That's what would happen irl, plus he would have flipped out over his guitar. Ugh, I knew it was all scripted but I wanted someone to snap with a reality check. I'm rambling and sleep deprived, thanks for cracking me up guys. :)
I never watched this show before on MTV as a teenager. This could relate to teenagers dating someone else. Their parents have to control their dating issues. : )
It's amazing to me that people nowadays find something that was just 13yrs ago - "incomprehensible, fashion dated, retro". Some of us lived those times and even before those times. And we're here watching you now. 🤨 Basically everything around the 2000s had to be XXXtreemmmmeee or it wasn't fun. I thought we'd fall off the planet for trying to outdo the gladiators. But it passes... just like the clowns of 2016 I guess this show tried to get Xtreme drama out of it, but...
Honestly as someone middle aged, the fashion really hasn't changed that much. People are still wearing skater type clothes like these. Really doesn't feel dated to me at all bar the humor.
22:26 travis and steven are like the same. the posture is the same, the arm placement of pulling their pants up, the noses are similar, the jawlines are the same that’s wild he really did choose another steven
Probably half scripted, half reality. That's how kids of the 90s were. MTV casted a girl from my HS for "Made" where she tried to lose weight. Sadly she OD'd and died years back. I bring that up curious as to the mental state of the kids they casted for these shows.
Eh I always hate that "oh reality shows specifically choose mentally unwell people" stuff. Most people who are on reality tv are as finally mentally as most other people. It's about the same percentage of reality tv people who OD or end up in jail as the percentage of normal people.
If you're wondering why chat is blurred its because one new chatter kept spamming a penis through the clever combination of 3 equals signs, a D, and a 💦 emoji. Funniest shit I've ever seen
damn that is so innovative
@@danf6513 I was thinking the same. New! Innovative!
That’s such a funny joke. I wish I could be this cool…

Sounds like Gunnar!?
Like ..He's got looks, he's cute and he's good looking. 😂😂
someone should make a channel where they just rip on old tv shows all the time
That would never work
There is one channel covering old MTV movie awards and vh1 music video awards from the early 2000s, those were pretty wild times in the media too. 😂 but hands down, MTV had the weird but funny reality shows all around!
Chris James has a channel that is kinda this, Gunnar should be careful to not completely copy Chris' work tbh
shooting in your own foot
#SubtleSelfPromo 😂
The “bad” boyfriend has some absolutely golden line deliveries
“looks like domestic abuse to me” IM LAUGHING MY ASS OFF HOLY FUCK
"is that evil bo burnham" really hit
Right?? I was cackling at that line
The boyfriend looks exactly like one of the how to train your dragon characters, was it the male twin character?
Tuffnut I think.
I'm pretty sure the girl is ruffnut
And I think it's spelled that way but I could be wrong.
I love how the guy in the black sweater went full "Nice Guy" when he got rejected.
Fr my jaw dropped 😭
I mean he did insult her after she rejected him so idk maybe he's fake or smth idk
@@nalinachan7951that’s what the “nice guy” is
That was literally every episode of the show.
I can’t stop confusing the dad for the lie detector guy
RIGHT LOL he even put his thumb up like the dude
I'm 99% sure that the dude she chose was actually her boyfriend and the "boyfriend" was actually her friend.
I'm so happy to see the Make a Wish Foundation, and Tobey Maguire come together twice. He's so generous and handsome. Gunnar is very lucky
The boyfriend had me geekin by the end, he was serious about her not slapping him anymore bro was furious
what?
I feel like Melinda's "mom" is actually Steven's mom and the "dad" is some creepy guy.
Right!? She seemed more like his mom then anything else

That paycheck must’ve been so good for him to be humiliated on live tv like that 💀💀
shout out to nick offerman for being the dad in this show
"so I've made my decision... and the guy I choose is..... NOBODY I wanna be SINGLE!!"
These two should do an odd couple remake together in full old people makeup

Truly some Emmy worthy performances!

Nothing in the show made me laugh, but the "No one tell my mom" after he chugged the beer made me crack up
I actually remember watching this on MTV. They used to play it as often as they play ridiculousness now. And they wonder why us millennials have a few issues lol😮
True! That show Next was on 24/7 too 😂

This type of acting reminds me of the food safety or say no to drugs videos they showed us back in 7&8th grade lmao

The parental Control episode that scarred me was the guy who used his head as a plunger
the intro into the stream clip is really nice gunnar. bro is increasing his production budget 😄
the parents and the partner always have the funniest dynamic in this show
It was either this show or a similar one that I read gave everyone on screen ear pieces through which the producers coached them and fed them lines.

The modern equivalent to this is basically The Ultimatum in a way, similar vibes 😂
Andy’s really walking around looking more like tobey Maguires Spider-Man then tobey Maguire
Looking back, I can’t believe how often someone would leave a person they were with for 3-5 years, for someone they went on 1 date with
Great video, made me smile. Thanks gunner!
Its wild that they were just like the boyfriend watching his gf cheating on him
Yay, more Andy! I love how I can still see his tears. Now do even more Andy!

wow, a new Gunnar video, this day is great

been binging your collab vids with Andy, you both have a great dynamic. fucking hilarious lol
Man, if this was real, it would be so awkward for them to see each other the next day if they still are in high school.

were you naked?
This was so much fun to watch!!
