Hey boss is there a way I can chat with you i was wanting to pick your brain on sawmilling
Here in Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 diesel this morning was AU$2.22 a litre. That is roughly US$5.90/gallon.
How old are you?
@@roygreen4467 That's cheap! Here in the UK, diesel is about GBP £1.99 a litre. So for a US gallon which is 3.78 litres that's the equivalent of $7.48 a gallon!
I can run my mill all day long and then sit down at 9pm to watch you and Jason do it on RUclips. I think I'm addicted.
Got an idea for the chickens. Install some of those vents up high on the wall you can open and close keep them open in the summer to keep heat down. Also maybe plant some fast growing shrubs on the west side to give shade during hotter part of the day.
You can also hook the up to a thermostat so they open and close by themselves.
And make sure your replacement air coming in is coming from the north side in the shade. Even in the house I use air management to cut down on how much I use my A/C.
I do the same thing. Close almost all for winter when it’s below zero and open them all for a good cros breeze In the summer.
Every log you saw opens up their life to you and it is a wonderous sight. Truly a blessing to see and share. Thank you, take care and God bless.
Great show! I’m a Retired cabinet maker. Never really retired though. Ha one of the coolest things is folding a band saw blade. Never get sick of the sound of cutting wood. Thanks for all your hard work.
Several negative comments have been made about your accent recently, even though it is strong it is at the same time very refreshing. We should all endeavour to promote our accents, I have lived all my life in Yorkshire, England and we, like your good self, are proud of the way we speak and so should everyone else, it is part of our heritage and history. I very much enjoy watching your work around the saw mill also. All the best. Peter Norcliffe, Yorkshire, England.
My daughter and her husband got some laying hens for their back yard here in New Zealand. One hen got sick and stopped laying eggs. It was summer ( most days 25-30 degrees centigrade ) so I took her to the vet. They said she had heatstroke so the hen stayed the night on a saline drip in air-conditioned comfort at the vet's. Cost $90. Very expensive eggs!
Wow, that's some gorgeous spalting. It will be a lucky woodworker who gets some of that log.
Looks like a case of 'Trash to Treasure' Nathan. Really nice wood when you opened it up. Cheers mate, Don from South Australia.
Wow, that maple is beautiful 🤩
I found an oak that had been down for at least 10 years around the block from me. I've been cutting it a little at a time and making small boards out of it. The most beautiful spalted oak.
Wow that reveal. Beautiful spalting
I have been watching this channel for a while now, you do great work! I am a huge fan of spalted maple. . This is just absolutely gorgeous!! It goes to show you can definitely never judge a book by its cover!! I would love to build a kitchen table out of this.
Man that stuff is pretty!! I just hit the jackpot on my place with some white oak...so pretty!! Thanks for the vids buddy!
Robert, from outpost sent me over here , I like his videos and I well like yours also.
Beautiful spalting on that maple log. Big money for you in that one, nice!!
That was beautiful Spalted Maple!
Despite your misery, this was a fun visit.---Diesel here in town ranges from $6.75 to $6.95. I paid $5.99 for regular gas 2 days ago...$95/16 gallons!
Thanks for watching 👍👍👍
Alana - You must be in California (fuel prices). Fuel prices here are $4.65 regular and $5.79 diesel (middle Tennessee).
@@davidturk6170 Yep, NW of Santa Barbara. It'll be at least 10cents higher down there.
Dang! Nathan that new mill is awesome sauce!
if i lived near you i would buy that lumber you just cut! beautiful! we are just starting to plant our garden here in northern Nevada, yours looks great!
Beautiful Nathan, well done
Looks awesome! More then just some....and yes we are about the same temperature wise, have a few triple digits days coming this week. Last i checked its about 5.60 gallon, and one place is 5.79 Only use the truck when i really need to. Have a cool week, and yes dip in the pool sounds great...June 21 5:65 gallon
Beautiful board's indeed I love the spalting✌️ Napa California
That Maple would make some interesting cabinets...
Agreed
That Maple was absolutely beautiful.
That last photo shot is some of God's finest art. Man!
BTW, I live in Del Rio, TX ... diesel is $5.07 as of yesterday afternoon ...
Good morning. I recently did cedar pickets for our deck, good looking stuff!
$5.49 here in the Carolina's according to Gas Buddy. We made that call this morning for the farm diesel tank. Sheesh
Ouch
I sure wish shipping wasn't so expensive right now. That's better looking spalted maple than I can get here in Oregon! Love to make some furniture pieces with it.
Agreed
Hi Nathan. Low suffer diesel in South GA is around 4.33 per gallon, off road is a bit cheaper. Too bad all mine have to have the expensive stuff. That was a nice Maple after all. I was thinking as you were cutting that I wish I had those off cuts for smoking some bacon. Lol.
Some beautiful guitar accompanied that video Nathan, well done. Thanks.
Beautiful cedar boards Nathan. I love that it looks like the grain is all outlined with black.
Great results from a presumed, questionable at best, timber! Well done Brother!
Gorgeous wood on that maple! What more could I say? Take care Nathan .... stay cool.
This reminds me I need to go turn some of my spalting logs. Maybe I'll have some good ones this winter to mill into turning blanks.
Great Sawer video, glad you put that fan in for the chickens. Like someone mentioned a sun block on the west side will help keep the heat down.
Diesel at the pump is $5.79 here in eastern CT.
About same here
I watched your series on building a Kiln. I am part of a project in Michigan where we are building a community for homeless veterans and we have a Kiln in a workshop that we use to gain income for our nonprofit. We took a 40 foot semi trailer and divided a wall at 20 foot giving us an 8‘ x 8‘ x 20‘ kiln. We insulated the walls with the rigid foam insulation like you used and put half-inch OSB over top of that and we are going to use the aluminum vibrated roof coating has a final coat on the walls. We have followed instructions from another person where we are using three milkhouse heater‘s and three box fans and one dehumidifier. We haven’t ran it yet because we’re still working on it when I’m reading it looks like we will hardly even need one heater to get to that 130° mark. I have looked all over online trying to find a chart on temperatures to keep the kiln on specific species of timber and I can only find vague references. Any ideas?
I love the timber you produce, the magic appears with each cut. I live in the UK so can only lust after such quality timber (without using a loan the size of a home mortage)
Regards Diesel prices over here price is around £1:98 per ltr (5 litres to imperial gallon) so the cost of a US gallon runs out to be just shy of 12 dollars a gallon !!!!
Same here around Glasgow.
Thanks!
Thanks buddy appreciate it
Great looking log Nathan. Hope that Bruno has a great summer camp !! Maybe your chickens will come already seasoned when you get ready to eat them. They are good entertainment for the cats anyway. Stay safe around there and cool off every chance you get. Fred.
Hi Nathan much love from West Tn.I saw the video on the palonial that we talked about on your live a couple weeks ago . absolutely beautiful.id buy all of them I could.would love to buy a table from you made of it if you can.id pay up front for one .thanks Nathan.
Beautiful board! Thank you.
That last piece of maple you showed was incredible. I picked up a truck load of 3 foot pieces of beech a year ago and left them under a tarp for a year. They split so bad I told my neighbor he was about to get a load of beech firewood. When I started cutting the pieces once I went in about 8 inches the logs were solid and heavily spalter which I was not expecting. I sealed them and covered them back up to do some turnings.
How long will 100 gallons of diesel last with all your equipment?
About 4 months
@@OutoftheWoods0623 hehe l would say "not long enough".
You cut some beautiful wood today. Thanks for sharing.
Love the show and the music.
Gas is about $4.50 here in Missouri where I live. It's inching up though. That maple log is beautiful wood.
Great shirt. Go big orange
Here in Latrobe PA on road $6.00 to $6.29 off road around $5.69. Thanks for reminding me that I need to fill the 500 gallon off road tank again. Great videos. Have a blessed weekend and Happy Father's Day.
Hi Nathan, here in East Yorkshire UK diesel has just topped £2.02 a Litre, works out to be $11.15 a gallon.
Yep....You were right it turn into the beauty and the beast went away with cutting!!!
Mate 3 months ago diesel was $11 a gallon I'm from Australia love your videos
I was just going through some of my inventory and found some spalted maple that looks very similar to yours. Win win.
Interesting log Nathan👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you for this video! Have you ever explained the meaning/significance of your tattoos on the channel?
14:37 Time Stamp. Tears of joy! Just gorgeous. When I get a chance to watch your channel, it always results in tears of joy. Heavenly Father’s creations are awe inspiring! Thank you for reverencing them! B~}
Down in new Zealand ,diesel is $11.34 equivilant to a US gallon.
I have turned bowls from what I was told was paulownia wood but what I had was extremely light weight unlike what you have that you said was very heavy. It was easy to turn but very difficult to get rid of tool marks tough to sand because of the soft wood between the grains. Maybe what I had was something else but it sure did look the same as what you were cutting.
Man! Those maple planks would make the bar top of my dreams! Just beautiful! 👍🏻👍🏻
It got up to 110 here in Tucson but I guarantee that is nothing like 98 in Eastern Tennessee. I am ordinally from Northern Alabama and we had some hot and humid summers. That's the reason I retired to the desert.
That maple was nice!
Spectacular! I'm sitting here daydreaming about what I could make with that maple.
As a rural deputy sheriff, I've worked many cases of paulownia trees being stolen. They were going to Asia, mainly Japan, to make high end shoes. Now they're mostly going to China. We had standing arrangements with the sawmills to get ID from anyone coming in with paulownia.
I really like that maple, Nathan. Diesel is around $6.19 here in north central Ohio.
Bill
Well there's a lovely surprise! It's been beastly hot in my neck of the wood as well. Stay safe!
$5.79 here in central Kentucky. And it rained so it wasn’t nearly as hot today. Nineties the last few. Upper 80s today.
Here in northern New Jersey the price of diesel ranges from $6.05 to $6.30. Wishing you all the best.
I just love spalted maple! Beautiful!
Damn brother! Just from the thumbnail that is some nice stuff.
Those logs had some beautiful grain in them. Enjoyed the video. 👍👍👍❤️
Big WOW factor there gorgeous
That was some very nice spalting in the maple log. Enjoy the heat…..it’s been really hot here in Michigan
In the UK diesel is £2 a litre. By my reckoning that equates to 9.20 Dollars per US gallon but arithmetic isn’t my forte so correct me if I’m wrong.
Nice video. The Maple was absolutely beautiful!
Saw $5.049/gallon at Sam’s Club in Papillion (metro Omaha area), Nebraska. They and Costco have been the lowest in the area. College World Series takes baseball to a new level playing in the extreme heat and humidity that’s here, too. Keep cool, Nathan.
Getting pretty good on the flippin'
that is awesome man, an fuel here in so cal goes up daily gas is $135 to fill my sierra truck an diesel i have not look
Thank you for sharing
I'm in the UK and for diesel we're paying around £2 a liter which is around $7.50
Just paid $5.29 in Bremen, GA. Great video as always.
That is some awesome salted maple!
Hello Nathan, here is Wilmington, NC the Diesel is $5.56 at GoGas but with a saver card you save $.10 a gallon. Great Video as always.
NICE LOOKING WOOD /BOARDS JOHN
Nice looking Maple! Say hi to Bruno!
This log was amazing, funny how it compares with people. Some are not necessarily beautiful on the outside but the inside is amazing.
Good Lord at all the beautiful guitar bodies that spalted maple would make.
That maple is so pretty! Love the channel!
In the UK Diesel is £1.94 per litre x 4.546 = £8.81 per US gallon, current exchange rate is $10.78 per gallon,
that's some pretty wood
Spalted Maple my favourite for knife handles
Diesel is $9,19 in the Netherlands for a US gallon.. we do liters, but made the conversion
Nathan here in Townsville North Queensland Australia premium diesel is $226.00au for 1 litre so that is 4.54l = 1gallon
Diesel here in Australia today is $2.25 a litre, which equals $9 per US gallon
Western Kentucky 5.69 and I’m thinking about planting some of those trees
The end of that slab had some nice spalting!
The heat is killer here in Texas too over 100 every day but only 35% humidity.
Man, that maple sure turned out better than I thought It was going to.
BTW, I'm running some blades from Joe M and they cut really well.
I mostly cut virginia pine and chestnut oak (because that's what primarily grows on my land)
I've heard both good and bad about chestnut oak. Some of the boards I'm air drying have warped but most are still straight.
I've had my mill less than a year and it's already by far paid for itself.
Gas buddy in my area of Colorado shows $5.29 to $5.89 for Diesel. The one end of that Maple is spectacular!! Good move with the fan for the chickens. Southwest Kansas has had 1000's of cows die this week from the heat. Really strange weather event where it didn't cool down at all over night. High heat, High Humidity and not cooling down over night took its toll!
Wood looks great 👍
that maple is just gorgeous
Hi Nathan, in Victoria, Australia I am paying $2.24 per litre for diesel high works out to be USD $7.00 and going up weekly it seems. Marinus
Good luck on them golden eggs🤣
