I was playing around with frankenswitching the HMXs the night before sending them to alex 😂 told him to have fun with the board and choose whatever tickles his pickle 😂
@@rydang5 which one would you suggest between the clouds and xhinhai ? i'm planning on pairing them with my neo80 with an alu plate :)) any suggestions ?
@@MonkeyDLuffy-pk3xq cant go wrong with either, both are awesome! the clouds have a more mild tone compared to the xinhais. Similar to the cheese switch but with 4mm travel instead of 3.5mm travel.
The xinhais are bright and fun. On alu it might be too loud unless you pair it with foams.
If its a work or heavy usage board i would go for the clouds, also for gaming you wont hear it as much over the mic if you play with other people.
If its a fun hobby board that you dont mind being a bit louder i would go with xinhais.
@@rydang5 thanks for the suggestions man :3 i like loud switches and don't like using foams at all...liked the sound of the clouds 😷 i owned the hyacinths before and fell in love with hmx switches fr ... Now not sure what to go with 😞
VERY bright almost sibilant sounding. Very cool and interesting but for me maybe a little exhausting after a while. Very unique though which I appreciate.

Loving Xinhais in my Tempo
I love loud clacks but this config (probably affected from pbt keycaps too) sounds too sharp and high pitched ! LOL. FInally hearing what extreme opposite of foam board is, would be this sound. I'd for sure tuning it down to make it sounds fuller/less plasticky but retain that loud clacks. the click clacky sounds just a bit too much, imagine hearing this clacks for more than 10 minutes daily hahahah
dang I did not know you could desolder those stupid PCB standoffs! I feel like they add some stiffer points to the PCB/plate assembly I’d prefer not to have! Thanks for sharing!

Well, I've removed the spacers from the board and it seems that the overall sound has improved. I don't know if it's my thing, but some keys that didn't sound good at all with them, now do. My question is because these things don't come so that you can decide for yourself whether to remove them more easily without having to desolder.
For "low pitch" HMX, you can check out HMX Jammy, HMX Eva and HMX Canglan V2

Are mode keyboards group buys? What about qwerty keys? I can't tell if they are group buys or something akin to custom orders where you configure and then they make it and send it to you. I'm new to this hobby and I'm not really keen on the concept of group buys. Can someone tell me?
Most Mode keyboards are sold in stock on their own website. I think pretty much all QK boards have been group buys but you might be able to find extras through local vendors.
