Thanks for the info about the reed valve/gasket. That was a big help. My kit is on order from Water Pik. Total price, including shipping = $12.94. My Water Pik failure was unusual in that the pic itself sheared off inside the handle, and I could not get it out even with various slim tools like dental picks.

Dear Andrew, many thanks for your tips. If you look at the gasket closely you see a difference between two sides. I think the way you put gasket on each side may make a difference as it seems to me that it works like a one way valve. I will be happy to know your opinion.
what direction did you end up pointing the side with the bump?

Andrew, Good job. I bought the hose because mine leaks from the fitting where you put in the tips. My unit also seems to leak from the reservoir where it attaches to the body. Should I replace the reservoir as well?
Alex Washington I'm sure it's just the o-ring on the reservoir. They're fairly inexpensive. Although I don't know if they sell a specific "waterpick reservoir o-ring" you might have to measure it and find a matching size.
Its sold cheap on ebay now. When i spoke to the co a few months ago, they never told me about this part, they told me to buy a new machine.

Is there anything one can do to make the hose last longer? Mine is tearing very near the handle. It breaks because it's too stiff.

Something wrong with a product that has such a weak link.
Today, May 2019...this part is $16. when I went to the Waterpik site for a price.
I imagine it's important to remove the hose to soak it in vinegar on a weekly basis, otherwise you'll be blasting your gums with mold! Doesn't look that simple to put back on due to the gasket... seems like a silly (but crucial) feature that Waterpik overlooked. Thx for the vid!
I always add mouthwash to the tank when I use it. Solves 2 problems in 1!

so I just replaced my hose and it still leaks like crazy. I put gasket in. Does it have to be in an exact position to make it not leak like it’s broken?
Ever had issues with mold growing in the handle?
You can clean it by running a 50% dilution of water and house hold bleach. Run through 4 times a full reservoir of just water to rinse out the cleaning solution.
if you have a wp-60 or a wp-72 you will need to do MUCH more than that to replace the hose.
absolute disgrace. the most expensive waterflosser in the world and the hose is constantly braking. i have the second on now from a family member whre the unit itself broke and i put the full hose unit on mine. it lasted like 2 months and broke catastrofically, in line, like a birch tree. also the head is now sealed shut, very hard to take apart wo extensive damage. also the previous one i cleaned with mildest (lemon acid) cleaner which is for delicate cuttlery and the tube became even more brittle like some old plastic out in the sun for 10+ years. how these ppl can keep their market position for so long is a testament itself for how fd up the EU market is. the pump itself its is nothing special either just oversized compared to other units. before i saw the disassembly videos i thought it has some kind of sealed industrial type pump, but nothing like that its just oversized in house unit
And whaaaat??? You show how to turn two screws, it's for kids))) I thought you fix two parts of the hose by gluе оr by heat shrinkage for example. It's easy to buy a new handle.
