Easy know it’s very early in the morning, I use to live in fiske court , yes it’s great to see the estate been re-built , but there is still a lot of not so nice people and crime in Barking .

It used to be a rough area. These days isn't that bad. Barking town centre is changing fast, and new developments all around.

Dead zone end around there can't wait to move as I live nearby.
There is a lady I knew from around Gascoigne estate, Her name was Charmaine, She had curly black hair and was of a white complexion but I think she might have been mixed and would now be 32-35...We used to speak very often on the phone and then we lost contact, She was from east london and i was in west london at the time of our short but sweet friendship.
This was a long time ago, About 16 years maybe but I would love to get in contact with her and to hear her voice again, I pray that she is ok.
If this rings any bells or you think you can help me it would be highly appreciated and would honestly make me extremely happy beyond words.

@@4ksilentwalk485 I honestly cant remember her last name, I have tried fb and twitter by typing in Charmaine and Gascoigne estate to see if it leads me anywhere but no luck so far...
I will continue to try and make contact with her but its probably easier to find a nail in a haystack at this point.
She lived in one of the tower blocks 15/20 minutes away from barking station, I went there twice but cant remember the name of the block either (Sighs heavily)

Lol roughest are in London? Brixton, stonebridge, harlesden, Peckham and so many more or miles worst than around there. This area was never a no go zone for police and civilians
I dare say that you (the uploader) are very much misinformed about the old Gascoigne estate previously being 'one of the roughest places'.
I patrolled that estate on foot for 14 years, from September 2003 to January 2017 and other than drug addicts, alcoholics, benefits scammers, tough guys,etc then the only hint of any problem were certain male residents laying claim to being gang members but we had zero incidents of anything significant enough to single out the estate from anywhere else in Barking and Dagenham.
It looks worse than when I worked there in 1969 - miserable anonymous architecture

Barking and Dagenham is the poorest Borough in London. At least it is an affordable area. ☺️

@@4ksilentwalk485 poorest borough at the moment is tower hamlets, I don’t think housing is affordable any more, have you seen the new houses being built by merilands crescent? They’re all flats and a 1 bed flat is costing people at least 375k and that too at a 75% share! It’s insane how much prices have risen, if you mean the cheapest area to live with transport nearby then yeah I agree it is, but if you don’t need transport close to you, then Places like Erith and Orpington are much more affordable and cheaper.
