Some types of interactive whiteboard can't be used as conventional whiteboards, so resulting in the same problem.
The other classic is accidentally using a permanent marker...
Mercifully, many solvents, e.g. acetone, isopropyl alcohol (tape/CD cleaner) or denatured alcohol will get rid of them - usually without damaging the board.

    • @CoWinkKeyDinkInc

So much has changed, that the title is true again :)
About a year ago, Twitter has extended its character limit to 280, but started counting two-byte characters as two, making country flags four character long (and other emojis, including other flags even longer, with subdivision flags, like England's 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 being even 14 characters long).
And then, Oct 2018, Twitter started counting all emojis, regardless of what's inside them, as two characters (or one two-byte character), and 🇫🇷 is two character again, but so is 🙂.

On a previous phone, I used to be able to hit the delete button when I typed in a flag and it only deleted the last letter, leaving one letter. The letter wasn't dotted though, it was just bold. If you would type the Nepalese flag, delete the last letter, then type the Spanish flag and delete the last letter, a Dutch flag would appear. This quite explained the whole concept of flag emoji's to me then.

Idea of new video: I was stunned when on my old Nokia phone I could use 160 symbols for SMS, and if I make it long it gave same 160 symbols and started a new one, after that it sent out 2 SMS, but the receiver got only 1 long SMS. On the modern phones, if I make long SMS, they give me just 120 new symbols for each the new one. What the heck? And it gets even worse: if I chose to write Ukrainian or Russian they originally give me just 70 symbols. So, maybe in the SMS system there are no standardized eastern European symbols? It would be really interesting to dig in...

It's due to character encoding, depends what the phone and the carrier use but the gist is, for an ASCII character, 7 bits is used to encode it, for other characters that need UTF encoding with 16 bits for each character, you can only fit 70 characters in a single SMS. Russian and Ukrainian specific characters aren't a part of ASCII so you get a 70 character limit.

In gnome-terminal (the terminal emulator for the GNOME desktop environment) the flag emojis are shown as the two-letter country code in bold blue and molten together and not as the characters separated and each surrounded by dots. I've actually never seen the dot-surrounded representation, all the time either the flag icon or the bold, blue, molten-together characters.

Maybe I dont know everything about unicode, sure, and maybe I could be wrong because I never STUDIED anything like this, but from what I know, this is incorrect. The flag emojis are treated as two different characters, but not for this reason. When unicode was presented, shortly after I new form of unicode characters were released called "Modifiers". Now modifiers work quite simply: a modifier character is placed AFTER another unicode character (emoji for example) to modify the previous character. This is the same way emojis now have skin tones that you can change (modify). The flag-- from my knowledge and use of flag modifiers-- is one of the most commonly modified letters. See, the usual unicode character for a flag that is UNMODIFIED is "🏳️‍" (as it displays in this comment on RUclips) and by proxy, a modifing character can be added on to change it into say the french flag, lgbt flag, chinese flag, et cetera. As an example, the LGBT flag (a rainbow flag) is represented in unicode as "🏳️‍ 🌈", the rainbow being a modifier and allowing for the previous emoji flag to combine into "🏳️‍🌈". If you don't believe me, try it yourself. In a comment, copy and paste the white flag emoji, and then directly after, paste the rainbow. If you've done it correctly, you'll immediatly see a change to the LGBT flag.
Of course I completley respect Tom and his team for putting this together, and I am possibly incorrect and the video is correct, but this is just the knowledge I have. Thank you.

Most emoji symbols define the meaning, flags are meansings that define the symbol, and meanings they are singular.
Meanings change all the time, so the symbol change, and emoji of a car doesn't need to be changed even tho cars aren't the same look because the word andeaning car doesn't create the symbol, the mechine that consist of 4 wheels and move makes the meaning of the car.
Changing Unicode means update to every mechine on earth that uses them
