Tech week has to be one of the most triggering things to say to a theatre kid
The last time I had a tech week I had strep. The day before I got rly sick and then I attempted to go and was made to go home. I slept 18 hours after the 2 1/2 hours of walking around. That Monday I was still kinda sick, and I was still able to dance and sing fine. The rest of that week and the shows were fantastic
Though on opening night my friend couldn’t get my hair done in time and it was the end of “ It’s possible “ from Cinderella and I was running across the stage and the backdrop lifted, MY DRESS WAA THE SAME COLOR AS THE LIGHTS SND NOBODY SAW ME YAAAY!!! I didn’t know that the people in the audience didn’t see me so I cried bc I though I ruined the dreams of a little child.
Yeah that and "play practice"

@@jamilynnbenz one act shows (even one scene!) shows are still great! It's definitely not the same as a full show, but they fill the hole in our hearts until our next show

1. panic
2. try to code the lights

4. realize it doesn't work
5. repeat till opening

i love tech week for some reason !! its so fun doing it all full out and having ur mind on it all the time,,, it gives me peace ?? weird but yeahh,,, it then hits that its a week before the show starts and then i get sad, and then my period starts, AND i get sick ??? so maybe that all that great but
7:39 is my friends and i at any birthday trying to sing each other and it always ends in the birthday girl hitting the highest note they
I just got done with my high schools production of The Little Mermaid (I played Scuttle) and tech week was HELL!!! The seagull costumes weren’t finished, not to mention extremely hot and sweaty, the choreography for Under the Sea sucked, and the lights weren’t even ready and the director kept changing the light queues! But amazingly we managed to make it last minute and it was amazing!
I worked A TON on this show. Our (equally small) theatre was the west coast premiere back in ’08, ’10, & ’11. I made all the “Deadite” masks (Ten different designs, many that paid homage to the movies!), helped build the raked stage & set (we had spandex walls to push on, and MASSIVE pneumatic blood canons!), and made the S.T. way more METAL as the band’s only guitarist. 🎸🤘
I’m really happy to see it’s still being produced w/"splatter zone" and loved by all.
Made a bunch of other stuff too like the “Delta 88”, a roll-about “cellar” and "Shelly" that could be decapitated onstage (and squirt blood), and more. I’ve now sold my super badass “Deadite” masks to several productions, nationwide.
I also met some “Ash vs. Evil Dead” cast members who came to the show as well as the writer, George Reinblatt. They all loved it.
My favorite musical by far, and I hate musicals.

The production of Into the Woods I'm in opens next Friday, so we have a whole day of tech this Saturday from "9am-???" My theatre community actually kinda loves tech cause we always mess around and bond.
I saw this in NYC, and Toronto, and Bethlehem PA. SO MUCH fun, such a great show. And a bloody mess! Love this

My schools musical isn’t even over and I already have post-show depression. Especially since I “vlogged” all of my rehearsals so I always look back at those videos and cry😂😩

Carrie And Evil Dead seem like such fun musicals. When can we get to see A Chucky musical (different story from the ones we know) and a scream the musical.
I start tech week tomorrow, and for my last day of freedom, I'm watching as many Kat Steele videos as possible.
