Jaclyn Downhill hey! Auditions are pretty normal really- you perform your monologue in front of 2 or 1 adults. Then they ask you questions like, why did you choose this strand, and some questions about your monologue too

I realize you would have already gone to the school but in case anyone else is looking at this, I believe its about 5 hours for post-14 and more centered around ur strand for post-16

Hey, as someone interested in applying for the school, do you know how many times you had to go to the school itself during the application process? I'm out of catchment, so making multiple train journeys will be costly. I mean things like the audition, interview etc, I just need some idea of how much trains will cost for me altogether x
Holly Caldwell I don’t know exactly how much trains would cost because every time I came I drove to the school, I also live out of catchment. I would say, with the open day, auditions and enrolment day I went to the school at least 5 times. I was on the reserve list twice so I had to go for more auditions than other people. I hope this helps xx

Simply Leah e reserve list is basically they don’t give you a yes or a no, you go on a list and if someone that they said yes to drops out then you can get their place!

I am currently in year 7 and i really want to go to Brit school in year 10 (i know, i still have 3 years!) Idon’t really know how to get in and am already nervous because i don’t consider myself as someone who has talent and i really want to become an actress in the future.

So, I'm guessing by now ur in yr8 meaning u have to audition in September, If ur auditioning for theatre then I would suggest reading up on modern and classic plays, even just checking vocab and making sure u understand any monologue you may have a chance of showing. The brit school aren't looking for someone who's already perfect so really talk about how u want to learn, saying this more than a hobby and such. They will definitely make u do a monologue and check out the website to check what else, so really practice what they ask for, be honest and BE ORIGINAL. I'm pretty sure their looking for creativity, try not to use an accent as they want to hear ur natural dialect (So they know how they can shape it/ teach u). I'm pretty sure writing ur own monologue is an option so If u want to stand out do that. I don't know if this helps but if it did Tell me if u want more.

@@scarlettfenton9383 ha, funny you should say that, it’s a long story but it hasn’t been easy and it had a very bad affect on my mental health since I started y11. Everyone there is so just ugh idefk how to explain it, but I also had a great time and made some amazing friends though I pushed away a lot of them without realising- brit really did turn me into the person I am today though and it really saved my ass

I’m not so comfortable discussing specific details on a comment section like YT but all I say is, if you do get in, in a lot of regards, it’s not all it’s worked up to be. They funnel all their funding into the music and musical theatre departments, leaving everyone else completely underfunded and lacklustre. The people are great once you get to 6th form as it would seem (I left after y11). You will learn a great amount there and hopefully do a lot of cool shit, musical theatre is very full on, both from a educational and social perspective. I just have my own opinions on the school but it doesn’t mean they will be the same as other peoples’. Ask other people who you know there though, learn about their own experiences and the pros and cons from their point of view (speak to those in y13 if possible as they will have the best advice). Hope this helps :)

No dance lessons unless you meant Musical Theatre or u wish to take it for Gsce.
I did theatre post 16, it’s just acting. You choose your gcse options separate

you should still apply!!or maybe for post16 because then you would’ve done GCSE’s and they might be more ok with it :))
Just do it, you never know if you’ll get in
But maybe join in year 12, so it doesn’t interfere with your gcses

caitlin kelly when you go for the open day you can ask for a list of people who rent out rooms however I found my family through Facebook, the price varies with different people. Usually from £300 upwards a month xx

issy grace well you still have to do maths, english and science gcses at boa and they also offer extra ones like geography and languages so explain to her you’d still be doing normal gcses as well as your boa pathway

Yaz.x.Leila when they close on the 4th of jan it will be a few weeks, and you’ll probably hear back four weeks before the 28th of feb and the 1st of March cos those are they audition dates for ks4

If you're post-16 I think u can ask the school where but if you're post-14 then you probably aren't going to be allowed

It depends on the strand ur auditioning for, I think the only ones u have to sing for are Musical Theatre, Music, Music Technology. For musical theatre if singing isn't a strength I'd suggest just perfecting dance and acting, Make sure to just keep practicing the singing aspect, they aren't looking for someone who is already knows everything so if u can do the others u should be alright!
