I’m a 16 y.o beginner classical/opera singer and this video showed me exactly how I dream my life will look like in a few years, this was so inspiring❤️
Aw, thank you! I hope to make another DITL now that I'm graduated, so hopefully that helps too ❤ I really hope I can give some perspective on things, so I'm glad you liked the video!
I am NOT an opera singer--or any kind of singer--but I fully appreciate your efforts and lifestyle required to achieve your dreams and goals! I wish you well, and hope that you will be singing in Wien this coming August when I will be visiting.
As someone who is studying opera, you DO NOT want me to sing with a microphone! My choir teacher moved me from soprano 1 to Alto 1 in the choir because as he said "it was just better for everyone".
Hello dear, I just found your vlog and it's inspiring ! I am opera singer too, dramatic mezzo, and I think it's important to show everyone how much work we put into it every single day ! kisses from Berlin !
i’m going into my junior year of high school and am thinking of opera . i just had the idea to look up a day in the life and this is amazing! i’m so happy you made these videos !!!!!!
I had no idea what I was going to do with my life when I got to my senior year of high school, so I decided to major in music😭took me five years but I’m just now graduating and getting a free ride for a masters in vocal performance in Arkansas. You can do it!! You can do anything you want to. Even with everyone I’ve gone to school with settling with teaching, I decided I want to do what I love; keep singing.
@@katethemezzo omg congrats !! a lot of people have told me to go into teaching but i know i want to perform if opera is what i’m called to do . keep on singing for sure , thats absolutely great !!
Thanks for the insight and a view into your busy day Anna, so miss that view beside the Amstel (hope that's where it was!), look forward to the next episode...
AHHH I loved this!! You are so inspiring. I sing classical music and musical theatre but I love learning about opera as well. Please create more content like this
Just found this channel! I’m just starting my second degree in opera performance. And I’m so happy to see a day in the life of someone a few years ahead of me! I just subscribed and am so excited to watch more!
Why did I just found you, this is a the kind of content that I really love 😭 I'm rrally interested to learn opera and if I may say I'm a bass, I think? Looking forward for your next content, sweetie 🥳
Yeah, it's definitely easy to go over the top, but it's at the risk of discrediting the character as a "simple" archetype, especially knowing what happens next in the trilogy!
That's a great question! I'm planning on doing a video series about wtf I'm talking about, cause it's so hard to fit everything into a short video! A singing lesson is mainly about technique and vocal production, while a coach is actually a pianist trained to work with singers on musicality, style, phrasing, etc. They don't (usually) talk about technique, since that's the singing teacher's job.
3 mins 33 secs in and hooked, I'll do 4 chunks throughout my working morning - perfect breaks, inspiring already Anna! ...I wonder what's in the NutriBullet?...hmm
This is a great, informative video and you have such a nice, warm voice! I would love to hear you in Rossini, I think it would suit you very well. I have one question: is it very hard to get into the Conservatory of Amsterdam? I am currently studying in Germany and thinking about moving to Amsterdam for a while.
Thank you so much! I'm actually working on some Rossini now ❤ In terms of the conservatory, it depends on what department you're auditioning for (Master, Bachelor, Early Music) - they're making a lot of changes, but I think your best bet would be to audition and come to the open day! This year it's on the 15th of January :)
I just got a GA to UARK for an MM in vocal performance, terrified but I really didn’t wanna settle and teach. Still not sure what I want to do with my career, so I’m watching this to see what other people do
There are SO many ways to build your own career. The more singers I meet the more I realize that it can be a blessing to have something else besides singing that can give you financial stability and also feed another creative outlet, and it is absolutely not a bad thing to do so. I don't want to have to say yes to every little opportunity that comes my way because I have to and burn out, cause I'm just trying to get by. I know singers that are photographers, financial advisors, piano tuners/restorers, website and graphic designers, and then of course you've got me trying to make something with vlogging! ❤
Thanks Gita! It is indeed really awkward at the beginning! 😂 Especially with people looking at you in the halls...i decided not to care 🤪 workout video will definitely be coming!
Hi Anna; I’ve been suggesting 🎉that you listen to Nancy Wilson sing ‘Face it girl it’s over from 1967. How can I beat send you the RUclips video from the old Ed Sulliv🎉show?
I'm in Spain. I'm 17 years all and I've never had a sing lesson. I'm to affraid to even try studying opera singing and I couldn't even know we're to start to study it...
Hey Santi! Any day is a great time to start - I would say look for a teacher who REALLY speaks to you and with whom you feel can bring you where you want to be for the foreseeable future. Start slow and enjoy the journey!
I’m glad to find this . I’m a prospective masters student at the Conservatory of Amsterdam ..originally from South Africa. Do you know where can I get more funding or sponsorship to cover the study costs ? I only got the Holland scholarship of € 5000 ...and nothin else so far . Please advise I’m running out of time already I’m supposed to begin this coming September
Hi Ncumisa, I'm sorry I didn't respond to your comment sooner. I unfortunately don't know too much about the funding or scholarship opportunities here. If you haven't had contact with the CvA yet about this issue, that would be my first step. I hope you're able to come! If you are here, let me know, and maybe I can help you get your bearings in Amsterdam.

10:55 i like how you described Cherubino..i saw one production or several where that character would ...ummm go ver the top with his libido..

......and that's your first video ever?? Wowzzzzaaaah ⭐🤗 good luck with your channel and with your studies. Btw is that Hamburg where you're studying?

Toi toi toi and everything. I've started propagating your lovely channel on Twits.

Okay, I'm hooked. Subscribing. You got me at Mozart.
This just made my day! So glad to have you.
