I think the ACTUAL, REAL reason why Rebecca is upset is not cuz it’s ‘無聊’, ‘冇嘢做’, ‘開門閂門’ but it’s cuz she doesn’t have much to be proud of herself/look forward to in her life (her parents passed away, she isn’t exceptionally pretty or rich, but the most important thing is she has a strong desire of love but is still single…) if you think about it this is a really upsetting life cuz you really have nothing much to look forward to everyday. The only thing that keeps her going is the fact that she REALLY 好做得嘢，為高權重 I’d say she’s basically a 女強人(? If that’s what it means in Cantonese idk lol). She didn’t sign up to be 大龍生秘書，一時三刻有人事部副主管去到做斟茶遞水/ 開門閂門… seems like she’s lost a big part of her life that she can be proud of… ):
This is actually a good theory! I personally think she has a strong desire for love cause she wants to find ‘the one’ of her love life to feel accomplishment. She craves for affection and doesn’t want it to leave her so she’s somewhat of a control freak over 張龍/Iron Face/細龍生 when she’s in a relationship with them. She is willing to do anything for those three in order to keep them by her side.
I absolutely agree! My sentiments exactly! This is somewhat exhibited in most people I meet in daily life but expressed in different ways. For one, on the other end of the spectrum, there are those who possesses all the above mentioned but still feel unfulfilled and vents it on others; two, those who are a tad short of their goals and resents people around them for their lack of “success”; three, people who constantly harp on the past and thinks if things are gonna be different if they married another person or studied some other subjects instead. Rebecca is atypical average representation of “Susan next door” and probably a mid life crisis that set in. I’m no one to judge, however, I do think there is a way of this depression and plateau. At one stage in life, we all need to take a hard look at what our priorities and what makes our lives fulfilling.
