    "Cornering is excellent. Of course it tends to flip over, but other than that it's excellent!"

    😂Amphibious but it couldn't float and the engine would be submerged! Enjoyed the video, thanks, it really made me giggle.

    Very cool looking piece of machinery. (That's all that matters) Meticulous restoration. I want one!

    In 1958 I saw pictures of the Mopetta for the first time. It was advertised for sale at a price of just over 1000 DM. At the time I was 12 years old, and to me it seemed to be the ideal car, much better than Volkswagens, Fords, Opels, Mercedes and all the other rubbish on the streets. I wanted to have one... Now, a few years older, I can only see it as a toy.

    That thing looks absolutely terrifying! Not actually seen footage of one before to this extent, excellent video.

      It's bonkers isn't it? Great fun putting that video together - it was one of the first three that I did when I started doing filming last autumn and for a 'first' attempt it's okay I think.

      @@BelowtheRadarCars , you did well to start filming then, it's a bit more difficult now! Would never have known it was a first attempt if you had not told me.

      @@lloydvehicleconsulting Thanks for that. The Vitesse was my first film then the following weekend I did the BMW 600 (just posted) and Mopetta videos on consecutive days. I've been doing photography professionally for years, which gave me an insight into the video, and I've helped on a few film shoots in the past, but suddenly having to do everything was a bit daunting! I'm enjoying it though!

      @@BelowtheRadarCars , it's always hard to know where to start. I remember the first two reviews we did in September 2018 when we really didn't know what we were doing, but strangely we haven't varied too much from the format, it is just that we have become more efficient and a bit more confident in what we do. I will be looking at the other videos over the next few days. It is very hard work to stand out in the automotive RUclips world, but it does get more and more rewarding.

      @@lloydvehicleconsulting As long as it's fun it's all good. When it stops being enjoyable it's time to pack it in.

    Herr Brütsch lived in Stuttgart so when probably Ferdinand Piëch saw one there in the 50s he might have thought, well, the driving position seems allright, add another wheel in front, bolt a 180° V12 onto the back, call it 917 Spyder. Or, probably not. :)

    I wonder how many of these magnificent machines were made?

      Supposedly there was only 14 made and there are only 5 remaining. There is apparently a UK company making replicas with a modern Honda engine.

    Imminently practical. What else could one possibly need. 100mpg and six lane motorways, end of motoring problems

    Any idea why the spelling is 'Bruetsch' with an 'e' on the Motor Show stand (02:26)?

    • @BelowtheRadarCars
      @BelowtheRadarCars  3 года назад +1

      No. Sometimes the period literature refers to Brutsch and sometimes it's Bruetsch. There seems to be massive inconsistency over this and it doesn't make it any easier knowing what to call the car!

    • @BelowtheRadarCars
      @BelowtheRadarCars  3 года назад +1

      It seems to be the UK importer that added the 'e', although the period test in Motor refers to the car as the Brutsch Mopetta, even though the car was supplied by the UK importer.

      I am German as well as this "car" & here it was & is always referred to as Brütsch with "ü" (guess that's the name of the inventor / producer). The reference as "Brutsch" or "Bruetsch" may be to the fact, that you don't have the "Umlaut" ü (as well as "ä" & "ö") in English.

    • @HesseJamez
      @HesseJamez 3 года назад +1

      It's German "Brütsch" - if a language (or a keyboard) has no Ü we, use UE instead. It sounds like the french U....but not like in english.
