Lots going on in this video, the body work is completed and ready for paint, it was time to move on to get the new hitch installed. I went with the Max Coupler Hitch. This will provide amazing articulation on the trail. I used my Esab Welder to install this on the diy overland trailer. I also welded some tabs on the frame to remount the tool box instead of using self tapping screws.

You might want to close up the end of the square tube or else it will pack up full of mud and probably rust out a lot faster, good build Jerry

For now I’m leaving them open to see how it goes. I know what you but the other end is open as well. If it starts to become a big problem like you mentioned getting backed with mud then I’ll close them up

I think I’d fill in the openings in the front of the frame & hitch to keep all the shit out of the tubes, & how much stuff do you have that says Power Fisted, we don’t have Princess auto 😅

19:37 I will be moving from BC soon near Milk River, I would like to go on a trip this summer with new people.
18:00 I had a old model T box on a home built frame I used for camping and hauling my 10" fishing boat. I was out by myself on a fishing trip and I turned around in an old logging landing. I was watching a stump on my drivers side while backing up, what I did not notice is the hole the stump came out of on the passengers side. I rolled my trailer and it popped off the ball. I would use that same hitch you have hands down on my next trailer build.

That coupler makes a decent theft deterrent as well. Not something someone will be able to easily attach to without a ball hitch

  • @BillyTpower

I considered those however I figured that there is no stopping point when she rotats there is nothing to stop it, the normal hitch has online so far before it resist full rotate and can bring the trailer back if needed

    • @BackCountryWrenching

There is no stopping point with a ball hitch it just snaps off and your really screwed

Jerry I don't like that you left those tubes open on your hitch set up. It just does not look good and will collect water and crap. I know you will probably close them off. Welds are lookin good, great work and look forward to your campin trips. From Alaska Fairbanks.
