The splatoon series has really aged. It went from a bunch of young squid having fun, to teen squids going to be the very best, to secret octocover missions, to now... an old squid or octo living in a suburban apartment complex.

To be completely honest, out of all of them, the first is probably my favorite. Not because of the gameplay, the system, or anything, but because of the memories. Tbh I’m really glad of how far this game and its fandom has come over the past almost-decade. I remember begging my grandparents for the first game (which I proudly own), screaming and wanting to threw a party over the announcement of splatoon 2 (which I also proudly own), getting so excited to finally being able to play as an octo in the dlc (also proudly own), and getting super hyped over splatoon 3 (which i will do anything to get my hands on). Having a bunch of merch, fanart I drew when I was 9, soon to buy the manga, having sang so many of the songs in the shower (with some of my own translations and practicing the little voices (which I’m actually quite good at now, just need some water)), and more, i can say I’m a proud veteran and super excited for s3.💪
