  • My Maytag Dishwasher (model MDB9959SKZO) was throwing an E1 F9 error code. After checking the owners manual, the error is caused by the unit not being able to properly drain. After reading a post Reddit, I was able to resolve my problem. Now that the pump housing is clear and the new pump motor has been installed, my dishwasher is thankfully up and running again. This video outlines my problem and the steps I took to resolve the issue. Also, I misspoke in the video regarding T15 and T20 star bits and should have said T10 and T15. Those are what is needed to get the screws out for the two motors.

Hi Seth. I have the Maytag mdb4949skz. Do you think the set up is similar to this one? Do those clamps possibly unscrew out instead of breaking them?

I can’t say for sure on the similarities between the two models. On the clamps, the factory clamps cannot be unscrewed, only cut. The clamps that I used to replace them were adjustable hose clamps. Those have a screw so you can loosen or tighten them.

Hey Seth, any update after that part came in? I’m about to order the motor on Amazon also but if that didn’t solve your issue then I may avoid that.

The dishwasher is back in action and running like a champ! The new motor popped right in. I hooked the wiring back up to it, turned it nightside up, hooked the drain line up and it was good to go. I did run a cycle while it was still sitting out in the open in case anything went wrong or I had leaks. Thankfully neither happened. After the cycle finished, I pushed it back into its place and installed the two screws that hold it in place.

This is the most complicated way to take it out.. You can just flip on the face of the dishwasher and take the motor off to access the pump filter... Just FYI..

That is true. However, I had to disassemble the filter housing to remove the jammed piece of metal that was causing the filter drum to stick. As far as I could tell, the only way to access the piece of metal was to detach the hoses and unscrew the filter housing. To do that, I needed to access it from the bottom. But, maybe I missed something.
